This place is f*cking BOMB. My travel companion and I were going to get the cinnamon French toast but pussied out and got the homemade granola and yogurt. HOLYSH*T so good. The prices are dope, the wait staff is sweet as hell, and everyone seems to know everyone by name(cept us, but duh). Don’t pass up Judy’s!!!

Not sure why it has taken me over a year to find this place. It is a family run/family friendly breakfast/lunch place in Fruita. Good food, good service, happy diners. We went to breakfast on Sunday and I had the chicken fried steak served with 2 eggs and hashbrowns. Very decadent. Crispy meat with lots of country gravy. Nicely cooked«medium over» fried eggs. Hash browns were crispy, but not very flavorful. Didn’t matter to me with all the egg yolk and gravy! I am fussy about how eggs are cooked and these passed my critical taste buds. I liked my meal. My husband had the western omelet(same as the Denver, minus cheese). Also with hashbrowns(he had no gravy or wet yolks, so had to tart up his potatoes with hot sauce and salt). His omelet was very nice. Sometimes omelets are overwhelming in size and this one was just perfect. Plenty of it, but not grossly over the top. Ham filling was clearly cut from real — not deli — ham. Peppers and onions were still crunchy, but had a little char on the edges that really made them yummy! He had a choice of toasts — or silver dollar pancakes. He took the cakes and they were great. This is clearly a place where locals hang out — the guys next to us nursed coffee for quite a while and chatted like long lost buds. They joshed with the waitress(but politely) and knew many of the other diners by name. In the back is Kait’s Bakery. It sells breads and sweet treats. I wish that the restaurant used these breads for toast instead of grocery style loaves. But, I can’t complain a single bit about my meal. We noticed the special board talking about the dinner buffet. That confused me since they close at 2PM. Apparently they have a mid day dinner buffet on Sundays only. Fried chicken seems to always be on the buffet, along with potatoes, veggies, stuffing, a salad bar and another entrée(this week it was Italian pasta). I went into the buffet room to see the set up. I had already eaten and it was a bit too early for the buffet, but I had a nice talk with a woman who seemed to be the owner. She was friendly and welcoming. She said the buffet is always ready by 11AM, but sometimes earlier. I noticed the nicely cut hard boiled eggs on the salad bar(cut into long thin slices). She said«well, whats a salad without eggs!» Have to agree with her! I also saw that while I was eating breakfast, some young folks were having burgers. I know a lot of people like«breakfast for dinner» and McDonald’s is doing the all day breakfast thing. But — I am more of a «dinner for breakfast» sort of person. So I asked her if I could order off the lunch menu in the morning. LOVED her answer — «you just tell me what you want and I’ll cook it for you!» She had me there — I will be back for the Sunday dinner, and lunch for breakfast! This place has a casual vibe and isn’t the most straightforward to find. Just trust your GPS!

We don’t usually eat out for breakfast, but it was my birthday and we decided to eat out at Judy’s family restaurant. We went in at about 12:30, on the later end of it’s operating hours so it wasn’t too busy. We were served by our very friendly waitress, Kaitlin, who did a great job of taking care of us. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs and I have to say, It was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The bacon that I got as a side order was juicy and the sausage gravy was awesome. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Decided to eat breakfast at Judy’s after reading other Unilocal!reviews. The portions are hearty and prices reasonable and the place definitely has a diner feel. My biggest complaint is that they don’t have real butter! I even asked and our waitress said«That’s the only butter we have.» I’m sorry, something with the first ingredient of water and second ingredient of partially hydrogenated soybean oil is NOT butter! Other than that, the meal was as-expected!

A great diner with a wonderful staff. We were in town for a memorial service so several family members decided to meet for breakfast. We called to warn them there would be about 15 of us. They set us up in the back room. When everyone showed up there were 22 people. They took great care of us and even with that big of a group provided wonderful food. It was a great way to end a weekend with family. They helped make a hard weekend easier.

Great little diner. Came here on a Saturday morning with a hangover and the french toast and coffee hit the spot. My companion had the breakfast burrito smothered in red sauce and it was also delish. The wait staff and those sitting around us were very friendly. The only downside was that the food took a little long to come out. But it was a busy Saturday morning, and our waitress kept our coffee full while we waited.

Parking was easy but this place is old and tired looking. I wouldn’t go back. We had lunch today. My Cobb salad was pretty tasteless. The turkey and ham on it was a cheap deli type meat and the plate it was served on was so small it was hard to eat. Don’t count on avocado or bacon. The few tomatoes were chopped so small you couldn’t eat them with a fork. The coconut pie was too sweet for our taste and the filling was a whipped cream concoction and not pudding like. Service was pretty fast but it was near closing time of 2 pm. Most of the few people eating there were regulars and appeared to be from an old fokes home. One had a walker, another was on oxygen. You can count on no cell phones bothering you with this clientele. Don’t expect up-beat interesting food here.

Judy’s Family Restaurant is an awesome hole-in-the-wall diner! 6 hungry campers/mountain bikers hit this place two mornings in a row and everyone seemed to love their food. Our waitress was outstanding, super-duper sweet even though we were from Tejas ;-). Pancakes, hashbrowns, green chili… was all great stuff. Pastries were excellent. (5 star ranking relative to other diners/breakfast joints, fwiw)

Competent diner food. Very good eggs, fresh and yummy and perfectly over easy. I had french toast(after a recent mediocre pancake experience somewhere else) which could’ve been hotter and moister, but it was loaded with cinnamon, which was a plus. My beau had a chile rellenos breakfast dish; it was strangely wrapped in(fried?) tortillas like an egg roll; he says the sauce was a little salty but with the potatoes it balanced out okay. Also they served«whipped spread» instead of actual butter. We also had a big cinnamon roll. It was pale and sweet, pretty good. Service was competent, super friendly and charming. The only down side was pretty mediocre coffee, but overall it was a fine breakfast spot.

This place is the perfect place to eat breakfast on a weekend morning. The green chili is very good and the biscuits and gravy are amazing. Can be slow, and has the diner feel but overall it’s a good experience.

great service at this little hole in the wall. Basic breakfast and lunch fair with reportedly killer green chile burros. I’ll get to those next time. The Ranchers breakfast was good as was my wifes eggs and hashers with biscuit.
