Best prime rib in town. Not floppy, fatty meat like the stereotypical buffet style, but rich, firm, salty, smoky delicious meat. Apps are all good, BBQ shrimp and soul rolls highlight. And then: hit that coconut cake. You’re welcome.

This was an awesome experience. Starting with the complimentary valet parking, very convenient. We had the bourbon flight and strip steaks cooked to prefection. I only wish we saved room for dessert. Service was great. We will be returning real soon. Loved it.

I have been here once for brunch which is AMAZING! Finally tried out dinner last night. Not a big bourbon drinker but that’s their specialty so, when in Rome. The Bourbon Hemingway is delicious. So glad I tried it! Spinach salad was good and the twin filets topped with brie were cooked perfectly. I do like that if you chose to order a cut of beef you get a choice of side. I’m accustomed to always needing to order that in addition to a steak, so it’s nice bonus that it is set up this way. I choose the green beans with pecans… yum! Finally I ordered the chocolate cake to go and it was great! Very rich and flavorful. Our service was outstanding. A great experience overall! I’ll be back.

Drinks are incredible! Great wine list. Food is pretty good but can be hit or miss at times. Usually excellent service. The restaurant is very loud and at times uncomfortable. Expect more from the women’s restroom at that price point. The outdoors is lovely and the cigar/fire pits are wonderful when weather permits.

The Sunday Brunch buffet is worth a try. This buffett is a step above the rest in quality and service. Bring your family or friends and order up a mimosa and stuff your face. Chef ordered omelet with your server and skip any long lines watching and waiting for someone to make it like other buffets. The buffet has your classic breakfast items but the waffles are to die for. They are crispy at first bite and melt in your mouth sweet and savory. Toppings like pecans, strawberry and whip cream round out the deliousness. The fried chicken is also worth a try too. Crispy, not to salty or soggy and full of flavor with juices dripping down at first bite. Yes! Downfall could be the price and lack of variety but don’t mistake that for quality. Check it out. We will be back for sure.

Please make sure to call in and place a reservation! It can get packed at times. We got a few cocktails there and it was delicious and just strong enough. Some places make their drinks quite weak. My husband and I got the restaurant week deal and it’s the best way to try out a restaurant! The steak itself is good, but I personally think the Mitchell’s restaurant in Easton is better. Fish is not bad. The soup is excellent. Great service overall that is why I give this place 4-star.

Again… if you give this less than 5 stars, somebody told you wrong, you didn’t speak up about anything that was lacking to the staff there and you hate life. This place hands down is top notch. Staff is classy and attentive. If you don’t think so… I dare you to tell them and watch what happens. They have given my husband a tour just because he asked. Try the ribs even as an appitizer. Cocktails are great. The bathrooms are fun! The BRUNCH… OMG… worth every penny and the spread is incredible. One visit, we had a friend mention he didn’t see an item in the brunch buffet spread… THEYWENTTOTHEKITCHENANDMADEITFORHIM! Cameron Mitchell’s teams’ slogan: Yes is the answer, now what is the question?“ That means you should go.

My family and I had an excellent meal here! We sat in the private wine room, which was cozy and quiet. Our servers were extremely attentive and friendly and the food was amazing. All 8 of us ordered steaks and all where cooked to our preference. We also had a couple of sides of Brussel sprouts which were delicious. The wine selection was extensive– and Wednesday nights are ½ off bottles under $ 99. Lastly, we all had dessert– the coconut cake, apple cobbler, and mudslide pie were all wonderful! All and all, we had a terrific even and will definitely be coming back soon!

BRUNCH– It’s buffet style so be prepared for that. I had a bloody mary which was nothing special especially for $ 8. The buffet is $ 30 a head with soda/tea/coffee included. The buffet had luke warm eggs, luke warm eggs benedict, fried chicken, average waffles(not freshly made in front of you), Mac n cheese, green beans, salad, bagels, lox, fruit salad, bacon/sausage links, etc. This brunch would be work maybe $ 18 – 20? Nothing special at all nor was the service. It wasn’t horrible service but definitely«buffet» clientele service. The omelet was meh as well. I have not had dinner here yet but not sure I would even come back. Ocean Club has the best service and much better quality. The Barn, you should offer a small brunchy menu for those who don’t feel like messing with a buffet. You should also think of something like a bloody mary cart/bar. Hope to see improvements soon

I have never been to a Cameron Mitchell restaurant I wasn’t impressed with and this concept is no exception. We went on a double date with some friends and had 6:30 reservations on a Saturday night. I knew it would be busy but when we got there, there wasn’t one single parking spot in their huge parking lot. Fortunately they have complimentary valet! The restaurant itself is very big. There’s a big front room and several others off to the side including a screened on back patio. It has a very rustic feel but I recommend wearing something nice. I wore khaki pants casual Sperry sneakers and an untucked button up shirt and I felt a little under dressed. Ok, let’s first talk about the drink selection. They have maybe 20 – 30 different whiskeys to choose from;mostly bourbons and ryes. They have a pretty extensive wine list too. I didn’t notice and substantial beer menu but with all the whiskeys to choose from I didn’t mind. We all shared the shrimp scampi to start. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the scampi sauce was very light and flavorful. I had the twin filets topped with Brie. They know how to do steak here! The filets melted in your mouth and the Brie was slightly melted but still in tact. For dessert, my wife and I split the chocolate cake. I’m usually more into lighter, fruitier desserts but this cake was very moist and very good. This place is maybe not an every week place but for great food for any occasion this is the place.

I can’t believe I’m giving a Cameron Mitchell restaurant three stars. But I need to based on my parties’ experience. We sat in the bar area at 6:15PM and were in time for happy hour pricing on drinks and apps. So far all went well. Then disaster hit. Our waiter asked if we wanted another round before happy hour«expired». Sure we said. Then we ordered dinner and only three of the four entrees arrived. The forth was not what our friend had ordered. No problem he was told, we’ll get a steak cooked immediately. Thank goodness we didn’t wait. All three of us had nearly finished eating when the fourth entrée arrived. Had deserts and all went well, until the bills arrived. The second round was charged at full price. We we’re told we put our order in too late. But when we were asked if we wanted a second round we were told happy hour was still in effect. $ 125 later, tax and tip included we were somewhat taken aback.

This was a special evening for us-my birthday as well as our anniversary celebration. We had a gift card for Cameron Mitchell — so I picked this one. We were not disappointed! First our server Danny was so nice, both in service as well as suggestions and conversation! We will ask for him on future visits Now for the food — we had a salad and the Oysters Bingo to share. Both very good. Then we both decided on the smaller prime rib with the roasted Brussel sprouts. OMG — the prime rib melted in the mouth! I would have liked a little more horseradish in the sauce but it tasted fabulous! We made sure to save room for dessert — so we chose Crème Brûlée and their Peanut butter pie. We each liked our own selection. Overall a very pleasant evening with the hubbie and excellent food with over the top service. What a way to celebrate! Thanks Danny!

The place was very nice and open. Service was great and friendly. Food was ok nothing POP. I really wanted to love this place since it’s so close to home. My husband and I had the stuff crab shrimp which was not hot coming out. It was $ 32.00 way over price for the quality. My husband had the prime rib, which a review on here state that it was tuff, which was true. Season very well but too tuff. We got the ribs which was good. The sauce no. For the prices I will go to the Fish Market where I try just about everything once and love.

TBH, I wasn’t blown away. I wanted to be blown away because(1) I love CM restaurants generally and(2) the restaurant occupies the old Hoggy’s, which I loved. Here’s what I liked: The restaurant has excellent décor; everything is subdued and classy. The bar is a thing to behold(think wood paneling and muted lighting). The selection of bourbons and bourbon-related cocktails is amazing. But, the food is what I’d like to characterize as overpriced American steakhouse catering to the rich. There was not a single, innovative thing on the menu and many were re-purposed CM standbys. I’m not a huge steak fan and neither my friend nor I were in the mood for a huge meal, so we ordered cocktails, a salad, an appetizer, a side, and bowl of French onion soup each. I did enjoy my cocktail(Hemingway) and the French onion soup. However, everything else I ordered was just mediocre. Also, the brussels sprouts were super oily, overcooked, bitter, and bland. A shame, especially since it’s $ 8. Lastly, the service was just ok. We purposely sat at the bar, where I usually receive consistent service at other restaurants. But, it was a Saturday night, and the bartenders were extremely busy. Our interactions with them frequently felt rushed and lacking. I may go back for cocktails only. If I’m in the mood for dinner, then I’ll likely stop by at Hudson 29 or even Cap City Diner nearby.

The Barn is a restaurant I so want to give a 5 star rating, but it is always falling short. It is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, located a half mile from my house, cool venue in an old barn design, and great menu of steaks. However, no matter how many times we go and our optimism for a better experience, it never measures up. The design is going for a look. For me, it is a bit too farmhouse kitschy. That said, the bar is quaint and the outdoor seating is fantastic, though seasonal. Has a great wine menu and many available by the glass. Terrific line up of steaks, prime rib, salads and the roasted Brussels sprouts are to die for. That said, just about every time we go the burgers or steaks are over done and we need to wait on a new meal. They are very accommodating, but it really interrupts the flow of the meal. When you’re paying $ 40 – 50 for a meal, it is reasonable to expect the kitchen gets it right the first time. Also, found it odd that sometimes they serve salads with dressing mixed and sometimes on the side. Getting a $ 10 Caesar salad with dressing on the side, feels very much like what you would get at a second or third tier chain steak house, not a high end Cameron Mitchell restaurant. The wait staff is always incredibly accommodating and fix the issue. They are quick to comp a dish when there is an issue. However, at the price point, food should be perfect first time. We expected the first 6 months that it would take some time for them to iron out the wrinkles, but now into their second year, it is disappointing that they haven’t. We really want the Barn to succeed for some many reasons, so do hope that they bring up the consistency and quality. If you go, try to sit outside, and focus on the smaller dishes and/or sides. That way you won’t be too disappointed about your $ 40 steak coming to you overdone.

Pretty good, and they fixed a problem At the spur of the moment went to try out The Barn. The décor is nothing like a farm barn, very classy. Went there for Sunday brunch($ 30 per person by the way) and it is buffet style with specialty drinks and omelets made to order by the kitchen. i had an all-meat omelet and tried many things on the buffet including the salad(just fine), mac and cheese(lacked flavor), breakfast potatoes(just ok), roasted chicken(great), salmon(meh), waffles(great), and fried chicken(more on this later). There were a bunch of desserts to choose from as well, I tried the bread pudding(pretty good), and apple cobbler(excellent). The fried chicken I tried was not cooked through and had red inside. I cut open 3 different pieces and they are all this way. The staff however notified the chef and he made me 3 pieces cooked properly, great service. I found the price to be kind of high, if it were lower maybe it would have received 4 stars.

I’d been wanting to try The Barn ever since the day it opened. But with it being on the other side of town from where I live, it took me a few months to finally make it out here. I don’t particularly mind the drive, it’s more so the fact that reservations here are so hard to get, to the point where you have to book on OpenTable close to 2 weeks ahead of time to get a decent time slot! Fortunately, my first visit to The Barn did not disappoint. I started out with a glass of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked bourbon on the rocks. At $ 11/glass, it’s fairly expensive. However, they give you a pretty generous pour– at least twice the amount of bourbon I was expecting. So that was pretty great.(And good thing I had a DD!) I’m more of a Scotch and Japanese whisky drinker, but I really did enjoy the Woodford Reserve. Next time I’d like to try their house blend Woodford Reserve. Our server had a trainee working with him, but the two of them worked well together to provide us with excellent service. Part of the reason I really love Cameron Mitchell restaurants isn’t necessarily just the food, but the consistently good service. We’d been to this building previously when it was still a Hoggy’s. While the interior has been completely revamped, I could still flash back to when it was a Hoggy’s and say«Hey I’ve sat in that booth before.» So that’s not so good. In terms of interior décor among Cameron Mitchell’s newest restaurants, The Guild House takes the cake in my opinion. We did not get any appetizers but did start out with salads. I got their wedge salad, which I thought was pretty delicious. I originally gained my love for wedge salads at Mitchell’s Fish Market, where the wedge is rather large. So by comparison The Barn’s wedge felt a little small… but not a big deal. We were served a complementary bread basket, which came with some sort of flavored butter. I think it may have been cinnamon flavor. Regardless, I thought it was delicious. My wife didn’t like it as much however. For our entrée, I got the 16oz bone-in dry aged strip steak, my wife got the fried chicken, and we got our daughter the kid’s burger. As is the case with other Cameron Mitchell restaurants, the«kid’s» burger is pretty much the same size as an adult burger, but at half the price. I personally think that’s pretty great, as it made my daughter full AND the remaining half burger gave my wife lunch for the next day. My wife’s fried chicken was delicious, although perhaps not quite as good as Cap City’s southern fried chicken. As for the steak, I’ll dedicate a whole paragraph to it since I’m a steak snob. So first of all, the steaks here are expensive. But they are competitively priced compared to other prime steakhouses in the area. My 16oz dry aged strip steak was $ 45. In comparison, Smith & Wollensky’s 14oz dry aged sirloin is $ 51 and J Gilbert’s 18oz dry aged bone-in ribeye is $ 47. I should mention that The Barn and J Gilbert I believe are the only prime steakhouses in Columbus where the cost of the steak actually includes a side. At say Hyde Park, you’re gonna be paying another $ 10 for a side of mashed potato on top of your $ 40~$ 50 steak. My steak at the Barn came out cooked perfectly to medium-rare as I had ordered it. I was surprised/disappointed at the relative lack of char on the surface of the steak, considering their menu specifically advertises that the steaks are«seasoned and broiled at 1200 degrees.» The meat itself was tender and flavorful… but not quite as tender and flavorful as I typically expect from a «dry aged» steak. Granted, how long the beef was actually aged for makes a lot of difference here. The menu at The Barn doesn’t specify how long the steak was actually aged for, so who knows. For what it’s worth, I think the 21 day dry aged strip steak that you can buy at Giant Eagle Market District is more flavorful and tender. Of course, you’d have to know how to cook that said steak properly, so for most of us without culinary training, the steak at The Barn is still excellent. Overall though, I think the 14oz NY Strip Steak @ The Ocean Club($ 44) is still the best steak you can get at a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. So yeah, The Barn is a really good restaurant. At this point, I wouldn’t call it the best steakhouse in Columbus nor the best Cameron Mitchell restaurant in Columbus, but I do think it’s got the potential to be both. We’ll definitely be back in the near future.

As someone who grew up on a farm and had horses, the décor was perfect! Exactly what I wanted my house to look like as a kid. I admit it felt a bit stuffy and country club like. We came here for my birthday dinner. The cocktails were great! As both a tea and bourbon lover, the Barn Tea was a perfect choice and very well balanced. I ordered the Fried Chicken and Mac n Cheese because DUH! It really was great. The chicken was so moist and tender, and the breading was crispy. The Mac n cheese was awesomeeeee. And I love Mac n cheese more than most things in life. It was creamy and had a great soft cheese taste-not too sharp and cheddar-y. My boyfriend got the ribs. Great St. Louis style cut and the meat slid right off the bones. They give you a super fancy silver bowl the put the bones! The sauce was a good Carolina-style. Light and vinegary. I only had a taste because he loved em so much. They were excellent. We split a Mudd Pie. It was good(how can an ice cream bombe be bad, really?) but nothing to write home about. And it was complimentary because it was my birthday! The last note. The honey butter for the dinner rolls was an excellent touch. Overall, I left happily fat, greasy, cheesy and a little buzzed. It was a perfect bday dinner for those of us who love good old fashioned, home cooking.

I have to start by saying The Barn gets 4 stars for delicious food but I had to cut a star for the overall experience. For the food… its awesome. The rolls and honey butter on the table are amazing and I won’t lie when I say I ate two or three before my meal even came out. I ordered the brisket meal which is smoked in house for 6 hours the day you order it. They pile the brisket high open faced on a large piece of Texas toast. The brisket was super tender and delicious, covered in the house made bbq sauce was fantastic. I swapped the greens the meal comes with for Mac n cheese and I don’t regret it one bit. I also had a bit of a friend’s flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare and the fried chicken is also of honorable mention. The experience was unfortunately a little sour as we had a 7:30 reservation on a Wednesday and we were not seated until about 7:55. We were placed in the outdoor back patio walled off with plastic tent walls while the temperature was near 20 degrees outside at a table that was still being set. The back patio was not set up for guests, extra chairs were stacked all over the room, and the tables were unorganized. It was clear that they messed up our reservation and were scrambling to set us up as fast as possible. After being dissatisfied with the seating situation we were able to be moved inside and the waiter was accommodating. For being a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, they definitely satisfied me with their food but I expected more out of the experience. Every restaurant has their start-up kinks though so I’m sure I’ll be back to try them again.
