The new, relocated, Foot Locker at the Oaks Mall is now a House of Hoops locations, which means instead of a typical Foot Locker it includes all the standard merch of a normal location plus a separate section devoted to basketball shoes and clothing. So you have this very nice, separated, area that is filled with Nike’s varied bball lines – Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, and KD sub-lines, all the shoes(well, many, not all really) and hoodies and shorts(many, many Nike Elite bball shorts!) in one place. The main Foot Locker section is pretty nice too, being brand-new also and contains their running shoes and other sneakers, caps, and non-bball stuff. But it’s all about the House of Hoops, having this great selection now in Gainesville for those of us who love and play the game. The staff is. .. alright. Stores like these tend to train their staff to be annoying in that they hover around and suggest things, which to me seems like an ill-advised sales tactic that probably decreases sales instead of increases them but I guess someone thinks it works. The staff could know a bit more about the Nike bball line too: I’ve asked a couple questions they couldn’t fully answer. Some are better than others: the white manager lady is great as is the black kid with glasses. They know their stuff for sure, and I think all are really trying. You just don’t get product knowledge like you’d get from a Niketown on the same items though.
