We order from Neals Bagels during our busy season and order for smaller events as well. Neal is prompt with arrival and delivery. His bagels are always so soft but with just that little hard crust in some places. They are a favorite at our company. I wish I lived closer to him because my family and I would frequent Neals.

Ahhhh finally a decent bagel spot. Neal’s bagels is kind of a low key place located in Gaithersburg, MD. Thankfully a friend showed me the way to these perfect bagels! The store is very small and can get crammed if there is a long line. But it is also a grab n go kind of place. They have no tables or chairs inside, although they do offer a small table with 2 chairs outside. They serve multiple varieties of bagels such as; rainbow, everything, chocolate chip, blueberry, onion, plain, the list goes on! They also serve a variety of cream cheese all available as light or regular. Some of them on the menu are; chive, lox spread, regular, blueberry, strawberry, etc. They also offer breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, pastries, muffins, mini bagels, coffee, juices, milk, etc. So to make a long story short, they have a huge selection to choose from. Now to my experience! I always get the everything bagel with the light cream cheese with chives. My favorite! The cashier basically takes your order and cuts, toasts, and spreads the bagel in front of you. Which is always a plus. My bagel was toasted to perfection. Not to crisp and not to soft, it was just right. The cream cheese is literally to die for. It’s creamy, smooth, and savory to your taste buds. The price for this bagel was $ 3 even. The perfect price for the perfect morning fuel. I recommend Neal’s as your morning pit stop for breakfast. Delicious food and it won’t break your bank! It’s a win win situation if you ask me!

Very decent bagels. Tried two of their bagels this morning 1) Everything bagel — Fresh out of the oven — not toasted. The bagel was crispy on the outside and warm/chewy on the inside. 2) Rainbow bagel — toasted. My kids loved this — it was a plain bagel but with some sweetness. All in all a fantastic experience. If only there was some better seating options in the place.

Flat bagels with undercooked microwaved bacon(basically raw). The egg was also microwaved. This is all visible to the customer while a flat top grill in the back goes unused. I just don’t get it.

Just had a salt bagel from Neal’s at our son’s home, who had bought Neal’s bagels for out of town guests brunch. I found the bagels large size which is good, the salt bagel very tasty, the cinnamon raisin bagels definitely containing raisins, but all in all not very crunchy. The lox that our son bought there did look good though and tasty pretty well. If I lived closer to Gaithersburg I would return there, their bagels are tasty(and perhaps better than Bagel City in Rockville, which are small). However, my favorite bagel place in the Washington area still is Ize’s on Rockville Pike, on the left side when going north, just before Old Georgetown Pike/Arbys/Popeyes. Their bagels are crunchy and tasty, with excellent whitefish/chicken salad/tuna salad spreads, and fast service. Perhaps you could say that they put too much spread in their bagels! Over and over I see repeat customers eating there, one couple even every day!

I was a LONG-TIME loyal customer when it was previously owned by Steve and Polly. I supported the change in ownership and continued to be a loyal customer, but quality took a fast downward turn. I remember the new management caring more about cleanliness and presentation. He was more concerned that the front end should be more neat and organized. That’s all well and good, but if you don’t have good food, who cares about what the place looks like? People come for the bagels, for the taste and quality. Unfortunately this long-time customer won’t be coming back. And that is sad for a local businesses.

The bagels are really good, but expensive. There aren’t any other options in the area; supply and demand.

Nothing fancy. Great bagels, FAST service, good coffee. They have all the bases covered.

I have been a loyal customer for years and under the new management the quality and service have taken a dramatic downward turn. The last time I went in our order was four bagel sandwiches, 3 of which were identical, yet not only were the orders wrong but the cashier seemed visibly flustered over what should be a fairly run-of-the-mill ticket. I am certainly biased by the relationship I had with the old owners but I am genuinely disappointed with the direction my former favorite breakfast place has gone.

Maybe it was because I went to this bagel shop with high expectations… but I didnt think there was anything extraordinary about this place. Yes, they have special sides for sale, such as pâté, coleslaw, egg salad, etc. But the bagels themselves aren’t all that. I prefer Einsteins bagels over Neals. I had a toasted everything bagel with chives cream cheese and a bagel with salmon and cream cheese. The first few bites of the chives cream cheese bagel was good, but I kinda got sick of it after that. The salmon bagel was just ok. I honestly think I can make it better at home.

So I go to Neal’s on a regular basis and it has honestly ruined other bagel places for me. Really good quality, they load their bagels up nicely, and I’ve never had a bad experience there in a year and a half of going there! Bagels are always made fresh, and they’ll sell the day old ones up front for a reduced cost too which is nice if you don’t mind that sort of thing. I’ll definitely keep coming back here.

If you’re ok with what ends up being ALWAYS a wait… their bagels are hands down the best in town. When I’m hungover but need to work, I find an Egg, Bacon and Cheese Pumpernickel bagel generally clears things right up. Neal’s Bagels: Making it easier to work hungover for years!

Found Neal’s Bagels thanks to Unilocalers and stopped by here to get some breakfast. I had the Belly Lox and Cream Cheese bagel to go. They offered to toast my bagel and also put some tomato slices in the sandwich. Nice touches. The bagel was very good. Nice crust on the outside and chewy inside. I’d definitely come back here to get bagels in the future.

In short: sesame bagel was awful, lox&bagel lacked tomatoes, onions, capers or pickles and was overpriced at $ 7. In detail: Moved into the area yesterday and went for a search of a good bagel place. Neal’s Bagels was a huge disappointment. Ordered Lox & bagel(Nova Scotia & plain cream cheese on sesame bagel) for $ 6.99 + tax. The bagel itself tasted like stale bread — nothing soft and chewy inside, as I was hoping. Not much salmon went into the sandwich with a $ 7 price tag. I have to admit, the guy, who prepared it, went to great lengths to ensure, that it was spreaded equally. He also put enough of cream cheese. Unfortunately nothing else went into the bagel! No tomatoes, onions, capers, pickles — nothing. On the top of all it the place is dirty. Maybe not disgusting and more mom-and-pop-deli kind, but still it is dirty and does not help your appetite.

*****2.5 stars***** Eh. Neal’s Bagels was almost okay. The everything bagel had a nice crunch to it and was soft in the inside. However, it wasn’t anything special. My Nova Scotia lox and cream cheese was good, but didn’t make me say MmMmMm. The amount of lox I got was pretty small and it was mainly on one side of my bagel. I think I actually got more tomato slices than lox. The cream cheese was also lacking as well. It seemed like they were in such a rush to make the sandwich that it was poorly spread on there. On a Sunday morning, the line was out the door but it moved fairly quickly.

Having moved from New Jersey this past summer, I had yet to orient my bagel palate to the local area. So, Neal’s Bagels, located in a nearby shopping plaza, recently became my first test case to see how well Maryland rolls. Choice number one was a bacon, egg and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel with a cup of joe. The selections were decent and the gentlemen working here were very friendly, polite and had our orders ready to go fairly quickly. There’s only a small window counter inside, so we grabbed one the small tables outside to enjoy the sun. I was very pleased(and relieved) to find the bagel was really good. Not as excellent as some I’ve had in the past(I hate to compare, but I can’t help it), but I was not disappointed with my late morning sandwich. I doubt I’ll find anything better or closer than Neal’s, so for now, I’m a first-time fan. 3.5 Stars.
