We’ve been here years ago and had a great experience so the other day when we were looking for take out places, we ordered from the nibbler again. The delivery took a bit longer than we hoped(55min) but I guess it should be expected. We got the grilled chicken kabob type dish and it came so burnt that I couldn’t taste the chicken. We also got the Ropa Vieja and it was soooo dry. Another dish was the breaded chicken and that was also dry and kind of soggy. I understand it could get soggy since it’s a delivery but there are other restaurants that package it differently so it doesn’t become AS soggy. The only dish that was really tasty was the steak lomo saltado. I would get that dish again. But unfortunately it won’t be any time soon because all of us had stomach issues after this dinner.

What kind of self-respecting so called«Peruvian» place serves Lomo Saltado with pre cut french fries??? I went in two weeks ago to give them a try since the reviews were good. $ 15 dollars wasted because they gave me fucking soggy rice.

Solid food. Run of the mill Latin restaurant in Maryland. Old, dirtier and new people skeptical to go in. Brisket over rice was really good.

I love the Nibbler. I have been coming here since I was about 12. The only bad thing is the prices seem to be getting higher and with less on your plate. Can’t go wrong with the Lomo Saltado. The sauces are excellent as well. I live out of state now but if I didn’t I would be here once a month!

The concept of The Nibbler is wonderful: cute family owned neighborhood spot serving homey Peruvian dishes. However, the delivery does not match up. It was not very cozy inside and instead actually really cold. I was freezing and the woman at the table next to me was so cold she was still wearing her large coat. I asked them to turn on the heat but they didn’t seem to be able to do this. So I then asked for them to just bring me some hot water at least. We tried the Llapingchos, which are pan fried potato cakes filled with muenster cheese garnished with lettuce, avocado and tomato. They were good, but I understand that these Ecuadoran Potato Cakes should have a peanut sauce which was not there. For the Lomo Saltado, sauteed flank steak with onions, tomatoes, and cilantro over fries with rice, we asked them to substitute the French fries for yuca fries, which they didn’t mind doing. This was really good, and I really liked the sauce and yuca. Recommended. We didn’t really like the Aji De Gallina, pulled chicken cooked in a milk, cheese, garlic and onion sauce served with potatoes, hard boiled egg and black olives. Perhaps we just didn’t like the flavor. This was my first time trying it so I don’t know if it was made correctly or not. The side of Fried Plantains wasn’t bad but nothing so special. I think I prefer plaintains when they are soft and not like chips. I think this place is overrated. It could be really great but they need to make some changes.

Hands down the best ropa veija ever I have moved away and when I come home I still must come by this place. The family that owns it are amazing and so sweet! The food is amazing you must go! Try the ropa!!!

The Nibbler is my family’s go-to local restaurant when we want a quick meal in a friendly atmosphere with reasonably-priced and delicious Peruvian food. We have been coming to the Nibbler for over 20 years. This is a small family owned place and is one of my local favorites. The Lomo Saltado is so flavorful. I love the simple fresh grilled salmon with salad and rice, but they have specials every day with several seafood entrees; they also have some German specials which are awesome. The chicken Milanese is a favorite and also the kabobs. Try the Nibbler… you won’t be disappointed.

This place is horrible. I got a good review from a friend but they must have been mistaken! I got the Peruvian chicken with beans and rice. When I walked in, around ¾ It was empty. The lady got my chicken from a metal box already sitting there. The beans and rice were just sitting there warm also. The sauce was not tasty at all for all the promotions about«amazing sauce». I’m disappointed because I love Peruvian chicken and driving to my usual place in Wheaton is far from where I live.

5 stars for The Nibbler restaurant. I come here breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tasted all the food in the menu but my favorite is Ceviche for appetizer and the Chupe de Camarones for the entrée. Everything is delicious including their sauces. So if you’re craving for a Peruvian food this is the place to go. :)

This place is excellent. It was recommended to me by a chef/friend. Lomo saltado is one of my favorite dishes, and the Nibbler’s version is EXCELLENT.

Small, friendly, family-type place, surprisingly cozy. The bistec la limena was really good! It had that chargrilled flavor. The carapulcra tasted home cooked and authentic. Admittedly the flavor was a little different for me, but I think that’s just me because it was well seasoned and well cooked. It reminded me of Baltimore’s sour beef and dumplings, I think because of the cloves. Tamales also great with chicken, egg, and olive inside!

I suspect that many of the stronger reviews come influenced by the fact that your expectations are low when you enter the joint. I’ve eaten there three times, all lunchtimes during weekdays. The beef(ropa vieja and lomo saltado) consistently is hard, and the serving sizes of meat are small(in all dishes we’ve ordered). The service is nice and helpful, but the quality of the food we’ve had never has been particularly good.

Old go-to place in the area that I’ve frequented for many years only to get two thing: milanesas and tallarines con carne. Food: 4.5÷5 Pretty great food and can’t go wrong. Always a solid choice. Might actually have to go there for lunch tomorrow as I’m reminded about how great the food is. Highly recommend milanesa and tallarines con carne(obviously). Service: 4⁄5 Solid service but has its spotty days. Small family-owned restaurant so I’m sure they have good and bad days, but always friendly nonetheless. Atmosphere: 3⁄5 It’s a really small, quaint place. You can tell the years have taken its toll but the food is really solid. I could care less what this place looks like, I usually get takeout anyways.

What can I say, I don’t want to be handing these 5 stars out for no reason but this place definitely deserves it! This is my favorite hometown restaurant and literally eat here at least once a week. Everything I’ve ever tried has been delicious and talk about consistency. I don’t think I’ve ever had a negative experience. Favorite items(in no particular order, I try to rotate through the menu): — Tallarines con carne — Milanesa — Lomo Saltado — Ropa Vieja

I was so excited to have a Peruvian joint near my new home — that quickly dissipated as soon as I walked in. The owners are not Peruvian, they bought the place from Peruvians. I didn’t discriminate right there and then though. I waited until I got the food… the lomo was sub-par(being nice). I can’t even explain it, it was terrible. Chewy, not flavorful, the sauces don’t taste authentic to me either. Ambience? Place looks okay, but it was FREEZING… Customer Service? Great! Sorry, if the food aint good, I’m just not going back. For some unexplained reason my husband went two more times to try out other items… he hasn’t been back every since. That says a lot since he’s constantly buying Peruvian food(he is from Peru btw).
