I was curious at the so-called Secret something latte(i dont remember but you would easily find it out on the menu) and i was impressed by it. The drink is good but the cake, pastry stuffs are just ok. Not recommend for those.

My husband and I stopped in here to have a cup of coffee and a little scone. They have coffee, tea, and some pastries/bagels. We sat outside under the pergola. Great service-Sideburns Guy and Dread Dude were attentive and helpful. They said I could use those names! Lol! Great shop! Stop in, you won’t be sorry!

Great cold brew coffee and wonderful outdoor seating. I had an apricot scone — very tasty. My husband says that his banana nut bread was«copiously nutty yet moist.» Very enjoyable stop on a morning stroll.

I had high hopes for great coffee when I saw a la marzocco espresso machine. But the coffee was ehh. The customer service wasn’t good either the guy behind the counter was trying to sound coffee knowledgeable but didn’t quite knew his craft, when I asked about the coffee roasting of the espresso he told me it was espresso roasted :/Anyway the only reason I gave it 2 stars is because my wife liked the chai tea.

Great little coffee shop located just blocks off the Strand. If you are a true coffee fan, skip Starbucks and stop here– get good coffee and nice ambiance. There is plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating too. Lots of students taking up space at tables studying, but that’s the theme of most coffee shops these days. Good spot to get a coffee and walk around the Strand area of Galveston or for an early morning pick me up. My last visit I got an iced tea, hubby got an iced Americana and we had the pecan coffee cake. They were out of several items(muffins, scones) and it was only 9:30AM. Pecan Coffee Cake was good, little crumbly and fell apart but the flavor was delicious. Drink wise– this place can make anything you want. Iced, non-iced, different flavors, extra shots. We sat and ate, didn’t stay long, but the again, very casual ambiance. Defiantly check this place out if you are looking for a good coffee stop!

I love the art in this place — going back this weekend to purchase some. The environment is very chic and earthy at the same time. No matter your stance in life you will feel comfortable here. Try the zucchini bread, because it is wonderful.

I love this coffee shop. They have plentiful seating inside and outside. Tonight we ordered the Shamrock and Just Trust Me. The Just Trust Me is supposed to be a secret, and it’s good if you like cinnamon and want something creamy. I’ve only been here a couple of times, but I stop by everytime I’m in Galveston. Definitely check it out!

I’ve been wanting to check this place out so this time on the island we finally had time. Biked over here and we were able to park and sit outside comfortably under their shaded pergola out front. Inside cool hipster vibe, plenty of seating with wifi. I only had an iced latte but will be back to try other drinks. I chose the iced grasshopper which was just ok. I felt it needed a little more mint flavor but other than that I was happy with today’s choice. Will come again to try some of the other drink choices and a pastry. Prices were reasonable, we will add this to our rotation when we are on the island for sure.

As the main coffee shop on the island, it stays busy, especially with students through the school year. The atmosphere is casual: relaxed all over, coffee shop in the main room, study room with chairs and couches in the extra room next door, and several tables beneath a shaded cover. They have a ton of drinks from coffees to teas to hot chocolates as well as desserts and bottled waters and juices. On most weekends in the summer they also feature live music outside on Post Office, but her there early to get a table if you’re shooting for a seat(usually starts around sundown). All in all a good place to sit and read when you want something close to The Strand.

We just had a vanilla latte and a blended almond joy and they were hands down yummy! It was rich in espresso and the perfect froth! The place is really awesome too! We loved the coffee shop vibe!

So I like the atmosphere here and the free wifi, but the just trust me specialty latte was a little weak for my taste. I would have gone for a stronger latte… however I did ask them to add more coffee to my drink because it was pretty sweet and they did it without making a scene which I appreciated! So nice place to check out if you need some down time after a big meal.

Great stop last weekend for some peace and warmth from Mardi Gras craziness! Mod brews Katz coffee and was brewed to my liking — not to weak not too bold. It was a welcomed beverage break spending a day catching beads in the cold all day. I would love to come back here again on my next visit to the Strand. Awesome chill coffeehouse.

I rarely give 5 star reviews, but this really is a fabulous coffee shop. The coffee and espresso is uniformly good; I cannot comment on the blended or sweet coffees because I am a bit of a purist. They make a strong espresso, a bonus in my opinion! The space itself is what is 5 star worthy, it is so cute and comfy without being contrived. If I went to UTMB this would definitely be my coffee shop on the island. Highly recommend taking a break from life and ordering a good cup of coffee and enjoying the outside seating in good weather, or the inside seating when the previous is not an option. Great work Mod Coffee, best independent coffee shop in Galveston!

This adorable and conveniently located café offers a variety of coffee and tea options, as well as tasty-looking baked goods(I didn’t get to try them, but they looked craft-made and yummy), which you can take to go, or enjoy in any one of several areas of the café. There is the main area with small tables, an airier room with some larger windows, and a cozy upstairs study room with books and games. There is interesting and novel artwork throughout. I ended up getting some coffee to go, and it was hot, fresh, and tasty. But I was certainly tempted to grab a seat, maybe take out my laptop, and soak in the atmosphere of the place.

Beautiful little spot, but I agree with others who say the coffee here is nothing outstanding. Yes, it is a cute coffee shop, but the coffee itself is OK at best. I had coffee twice and finally got the Grasshopper on my last visit to see what the hype was about. I loooove mint in just about anything and the mint in the Grashopper tastes truly minty — not PEPPERMINT-y like Starbucks. Nice spot to get some work done or a catch-up sesh with a buddy, but prob not the best coffee you’ll ever have in your life. Unilocal 1002016: #5

Great coffee shop lots of character. Old building in the post office district in Galveston. Cappuccino was excellent walnut carrot muffin was moist and good. Building along with the service and coffee make this a very unique place to come. Perfect historic Galveston building. Plenty of seating observer all different rooms. Some upstairs small and quaint or outside patio seating if weather is nice.

Boo. Coming from NorCal where coffee houses are a staple I may be a little more critical than the Galveston crowd. All I wanted was a mocha, extra hot, no foam. My mocha was extra foam, lukewarm almost room temp. Ugh.

It’s a nice little place with a patio outside, but don’t order the chai latte. It was horrible and tasted like sugared water. We also tried the hot chocolate, but it tasted like to much sugar to so we threw it away.

This place is my go-to for coffee on the island! It’s situated near the strand, and is in a great cozy location. Parking can be challenging at times but if you look hard enough you can find a spot somewhere not too far. The shop definitely has an artsy hipster feel to it. As you walk in you will notice a spacious and welcoming interior. They have a second room that has artwork from local artists on the wall along with couches and tables that are conducive for studying. There is also a second floor area that has a small meeting room that you can reserve, and a few couches. The baristas here are all nice and friendly, and service is fast! I think they use Katz coffee, which is Houston based and has a good local reputation. They offer a lot of specialty lattes, teas, and espressos on the menu; the ones I’ve had were all good. My favorites here are: The grasshopper(minty-ish espresso), the London fog(Black tea with half and hald and vanilla syrup) or just be adventurous with«Just trust me» and they’ll make a random drink for you! They also have sandwiches and other lunch items on the menu, and yeah don’t miss out on the pastries! Overall if you’re into great local coffee shops, MOD should be on your«to try» list in Galveston!

I used to be a regular here, many moons ago when I used to work downtown. I stopped by this morning after dropping off my boys to school and now I remember why I was a regular :) Awesome crew, super friendly. The place is super clean and the coffee. I’m no coffee expert but their Café Au lait and Mocha freeze are my faves. Don’t forget to try some baked goodies too! Dream bars are to die for!

the main things this place has going for it is that it’s the only coffee shop around with a decent atmosphere and good people watching. The basic coffee is okay, but the vast menu of coffee drinks are usually not that great and seem to all run together in form and taste. Also, the quality highly depends on who’s making it. Most of the baristas are not that great; fine people, but mediocre baristas. The internet is VERY slow. The food options are limited and have not changed in a long, long time. All in all, seems like the owner is just coasting along and cashing in. Some suggestions… speed up the internet, cut the coffee menu in half at least and train the baristas to be consistent, change up the baked goods regularly and offer some more substantial food options.
