1st time there and will never go back. Not because the crabs were bad, but for how rude the gentleman named Robert was to the guy helping me at the counter, who was super nice and helpful. I didn’t realize that they stopped selling kitchen food at a certain time because it was my first time there. So I ordered two baked potatoes and the guy helping me turns to Robert and asked if the kitchen was still open. Robert answered in such a rude and disrespectful manner I almost walked out without my crabs. Robert absolutely knew that we could here him, he said something like no no no kitchen closes at I think he said 7:30 and we arrived at 7:45, it’s closed, kitchen is closed I’m not staying here all night, I am already going to be here till 8:30 etc. I was so taken back And felt so bad for the guy helping me I apologized for getting him yelled at. The guy said its normal and not a big deal, I only know Roberts name because I asked the guy helping me what it was before leaving.

How do you lose a 5lb crab order? Shoreline knows how!!! We waited over an hour for an order of crabs only to be told that they lost the order. We were not compensated it anyway. We will not be returning to this establishment. Shoreline demonstrated the poorest form of customer service and totally ruined the event that was planned.

I used to love this place for steamed crabs. I used to get crabs for all of the summer holidays from shoreline, but I went there at the end of last summer and the crabs had an off taste to them, so we ended up throwing away a whole dozen of the swamp Dog crabs, which are the most expensive crabs that they sell by the dozen… We decided to give them another try for this memorial day weekend. I preordered a bushel of large male crabs… almost half of the crabs were light with very little meat in them and even though they were supposed to be large, a lot of the crabs were small in size… I still love shoreline for crab meat, shrimp and other fresh seafood, but I will never buy crabs from Shoreline again… I have started making a trip over the bay bridge and going to a crab shack at the first exit off the bridge… their crabs are always heavy and fresh…

This place is consistently hit or miss. Sometimes you get really amazing food good crab soup whatever. Other times like this past Christmas when I ordered 12 of the big softball jumbo lump crab cakes I could tell they were off. Crabs taste really good one day and off the next time. My friend said it’s because they reheat crabs. Blegh! For the price I expect more.

I ordered a pair of crab cakes one fried and one broiled lump baseball cake. The broiled one wasn’t to bad but the fried one looked like it was fried to all hell. I also had hush puppies specifically the ones in the picture I uploaded and they were also super fried and burnt. My suggestion is if you need raw fish to cook this place is great, they have a good selection of fresh seafood worth buying, but stay away from the cooked stuff especially the fried cooked stuff.

Really this place been around so long but years ago I told myself never again because I am not into Female crabs and I never thought there crabs were any good but I have read many reviews that there crabs are very good maybe I will try this summer! However my review is for the 2 pints of Oysters I got there! They were suppose to be Cinnotege and they were Bay oysters! And they were so small totally nuts for the price they charged me! $ 18 a pint! Must be Gold!!! Ended up making Oyster Stew with them but wanted to fry them just to small not worth price at all! Will never get again! Might try crabs one more time since its been over 20 years of walking in that place and that before Unilocal so I didn’t have any reviews to go by! But if Unilocal had been around it would of been a one Star Experince! Crabs were mixed crabs threw in females which I only ordered Males! I was not a Happy Camper! After that I started to go To Seaside for my crabs and never had a problem to this day! You truly get what you pay for! But if I do try Shoreline this Summer for crabs I will update this review!!!

Might be good for steamed crabs, but don’t buy fish by the pound for them to cook. Ordered 2 pounds of whiting for them to cook today. Was charged a dollar for them to cook on the premises. Uggh! The fish was cooked too hard and had no flavor. It was as hard as fried leather. Should have known when I walked in. The place was dated and needs to upgrade to the 21st Century. Bad table cloths. Staff looked dirty, had a baby nursery for the staff at the front register. I also tasted the shrimp and the crab chowder, they both were thicker than fried grits. Not tasty ATALL! These folks need to contact the Food Network so «Restaurant Impossible» can intervene. Otherwise, close the kitchen. It is a major fail. Also, how about having workers who are easy on thw eye and who looked like the shower/bath daily. So disappointing. I will never return.

Their prepared meals aren’t good. At all. Okay store for fresh fish and crab. I go here to get super swamp dogs(their largest crabs that are sold for $ 11 per pound — so 6 of them is about $ 45). I don’t get them steamed. Just a simple transactions. My transactions are always screwed up. I commend them for hiring those with disabilities(as my brother suffers from a traumatic brain injury) BUT please have someone oversee the employees without being an ass toward them. Young guy mistakenly enters $ 1.00 instead of $ 100. He almost had a heart attack. I told him it was a mistake and calculated the change he was supposed to give me back. Older gentleman comes over and tells me to not confuse him any more and proceeds to be a total jerk toward the clerk. I was annoyed and told the clerk, «Great effort young man. Everyone makes mistakes.» I can get my crabs from The Wharf. There’s nothing special about Shoreline. Nothing. And it stinks on the inside. Not like fresh fish… like rotten fish.

It hurts me to write this because I have been going to Shoreline for many years. I was in the mood for a crab cake sandwich today, so I went to Shoreline. I also got fried scallops and fried oysters. The crab cake had shells in every bite… so disappointed. If the shells weren’t bad enough, here’s the doozie. The scallops tasted like AMMONIA. Yep, you read it write AMMONIA. I was beyond pissed. I drove over 30 minutes for crab shells and ammonia. I will never ever go back to Shoreline. Never. Ever. The customer service was also very bad. Dang Shoreline, I’ve been a customer for 15+ years.

This is our go to place for great steamed crabs. Each year my company hosts a crab feast for our employees, and today was ours. Picked up five steaming hot bushels, ready at exactly the right time, and of to the park I went. The crabs were the star of the show for sure… heavy, full of sweet meat, and nicely seasoned! We keep coming back year after year, and this is why!

I generally try not to write a review after just one visit, unless the visit was awesomely good… or majorly bad. Live and let live I say, but just felt like giving my thoughts anyway, with an out… I’ll give this place another try and then will update. And here’s the major reason why. I HATE Old Bay seasoning. Well actually I don’t hate it completely but I generally prefer it in VERY small amounts in my seafood. I’m not a native DMVer who I didn’t grow up with it. The one thing I always forget when I go to crab spots in this area is that it is generally literally doused onto every single thing. Other than Hot N Juicy Crawfish, most other spots rely heavily on it. For me its just way too salty and in large amounts just completely deadens the taste buds in my mouth. Dramatic I know… but its true. At my regular spots I always ask for«no seasoning» and its ok for me. Took a chance on Shoreline one random day when I had a taste for crabs but didn’t want to hit up my regular spot. I do have to say, the people at the counters were super nice and it wasn’t too long of a wait for my crabs. Prices were decent and they had a wide variety of fresh and prepared fish and seafood options staring me right in the face. Ordered a dozen large female crabs and a half dozen male swamp dogs. The large was great size and oh my on the swamp dog size. I’d definitely have plenty of leftovers. Drove the 35 minutes home starving and immediately got to work. The minute I opened the bag I realized my huge mistake. I forgot to tell them to «hold the Old Bay»… I could only get through a few crabs before I gave up. The crabs were literally caked with Old Bay. And honestly, the swamp dog crabs were watery and light. Not a god mix. To be fair, the next day I carefully rinsed the crabs(yes I did!) and reheated them. The female crabs were delicious!!! The swamp dogs… meh… I’m not a big crab eater so the food lasted about 3 days and on the 3rd day, the female crabs were still delicious. Since the females were delicious, I’ll give them another chance. I didn’t try the prepared foods side and I wanna try them again. Next time I’ll have to set an alert to HOLDTHEOLDBAY!

Since crabs in the Baltimore area are at a premium price this time of the season, we decided to truck on down to Gambrills to Shoreline Seafood. They always have the best crab prices anyway. I got the 3 for $ 65 medium females and they had a special where l got one dozen free, which was not bad for the price. The seasoning is good and doesn’t break me out, like some highly salted and spicy ones can do, but they were a bit stingy with it this time and l had to break out the Old Bay when l got home. The crabs range in size from small females to superior jumbo swampdogs! Shoreline also has an array of other seafood goodies such as shrimp, oysters, clams, all types of fish, crab legs, alligator fillets, conch meat, octopus, frog legs and even muskrat. what ever floats your boat seafood(and swamp) wise. So, if you are in the area, you should stop by.

Been to Shoreline a few times. Food has always been good. I’m allergic to shellfish, so eating backfin crabcakes isn’t necessarily the doc’s prescription. However, they are good as hell!!! Pop a Benadryl and I’m good. The crabcakes are delicious. When they say baseball sized, they mean it. Crab meat is a mix of lumps & broken pieces & has a nice flavor. The breading adds a decent texture to it. The spices are so good I don’t even have to throw hot sauce on em. That’s a rarity. LOL. Hush puppies are the best in the area. Fried hard & very flavorful. They sort’ve take me back to the old Chesapeake Bay Seafood House days. Even as good as they are, nothing comes close to how Chesapeake did em. The sides are cool. I usually get a stuffed baked potato and broccoli. However this time, they forgot my broccoli. That’s pretty much the difference between a 3 star rating and higher. You can’t forget the sides folks, especially not my favorite vegetable. However when I called back and advised them of the error, they offered me a credit on my next visit. We’ll see how that goes. Overall, a good experience as always… minus the missing broccoli.

Just got home from Shoreline. I purchased some Perch, Tilapia, Spots and some shrimp. Immediately i smelled the Perch but we went ahead and cooked everything up anyway. Needless to say I trashed the Perch and could not stomach the shrimp. Guess I’ll try Wegmans.

Carryout only: One of the few places where you can get steamed crabs to go all year round. Problem is that the quality is not consistent… sometimes excellent, sometimes terrible. Before ordering crabs ask if they are heavy and when they were cooked. They will sell you reheats and lightweight(big but empty) crabs if don’t you talk to them before placing your order. Shoreline uses a «crab shocker» to paralyze their live crabs to keep them from tearing their claws off during steaming.

Shoreline Seafood is a family owned business that I absolutely love. They have so much to offer customers each day, including the best crabs around! They are open Sunday through Thursday(closed Tuesdays) from 11am — 8pm. Fridays and Saturdays they stay open later, however, I still feel as if I get the best deals and fastest service on a Wednesday and Thursday. If you want to come in on a weekend for pick-up, make sure you call ahead! As a Unilocaler you are obviously great at maneuvering through the Internet – make sure you download and/or print their coupons from their website! They have new coupons available every month! You can use the coupons for the whole month! Last time I went they had live crabs, live lobster, and live Dungeness crabs for sale in all different sizes. They offer fresh fillet fish, whole fish, steaked fish, shrimp, scallops, Chesapeake Bay oysters, Chincoteague oysters, blue point oysters, and clams(about 6 different kinds). If you’re someone who likes to try new things then go ahead and order some frozen frog legs or alligator! If you’re not sure how to cook them ask the co-owner Mr. Mike for directions! HEISTHEBEST =) Basically family. *Please note that a lot of people can see the restaurant from the road, however, many always miss the entrance. From the north Shoreline Seafood on the left, in the median between North and South Rt 3, just after the light at Johns Hopkins and Evergreen Roads. From the south Shoreline Seafood is before next traffic light at Johns Hopkins Road. It comes up fast so be prepared – people fly on this road.

I’ve tried their fried fare and was very underwhelmed, but this visit for steamed crabs was completely enjoyable. We ordered a couple of pounds of crabs steamed in old bay seasoning and let me tell ya, they were very tasty. You can only get stuff to go, but that is O.K. with me, because I really don’t want any witnesses watching me devour crab meat dipped in lemony butter sauce drip all aver my crab eating clothes. I’ll be back on my next trip to MD for some more fresh steamed whole crab!
