This place is no longer here, it has been replaced by a Carribean food place.

So this morning I woke up thinking — yum I want Korean food. So as soon as I got to work, I Unilocaled Korean restaurants in the Gardena area. Found this Doo Rae Bak closest to my office and got very excited to get a few of my coworkers to get on the Korean food train as well. BOOBOO! Once we got there, it was some sort of Caribbean restaurant that looked deserted. I was sooo mad! We called the number provided on Unilocal and apparently this Caribbean place took over Doo Rae Bak recently. So people — just FYI — THISPLACEISGONE! And I still have my Korean food crave. :(

This restaurant is known for its korean barbeque pork ribs. They are really good. One order is more than enough for 2 people. They have a mildly spicy potato stew with tender pork which is delicious. Almost all the Korean restaurants in South Bay pale in comparison to the quality one can find in Koreatown but this is the one establishment that can hold its own. The service is attentive and friendly, parking is ample. I don’t think many people know about this place because I take my family there at least once or twice a month and they’re never busy. Prices are moderate for a Korean BBQ place, about $ 17 for the pork ribs, but again they feed two. Very kid friendly, the waitresses love kids.

I’ve been a fan of this establishment since circa 1995. Their monk fish casserole is pretty tasty; almost akin to that of the original taste in Busan, sans potato noodles; a definite kudos to the cook for taste. The«ambience» is casual and friendly. The best time for me to visit a restaurant is usually between 2 and 4 p.m. and I typically receive very good service. I try to avoid lunch and dinner rushes when I am seriously in need of grubbing. The meat dishes I would not strongly recommend as they may not be of the best cut/quality. Their seafood pancake is also a great add-on item that anyone can enjoy easily. Their jjigaes and side dishes are fairly decent. I would definitely recommend this joint for gatherings of close friends and colleagues who care for almost traditional Korean fares. They serve assorted sojus and beers for alcoholic beverages. It’s an easy, tasty neighborhood Korean restaurant.
