Went here around 8PM and nothing was left and their closing time is 9:30PM. I ordered egg flower soup and the taste was off and they add cabbage. To top it off, there was a bug in my soup. Didn’t finish it and don’t think I will return.

This is what you eat during lunch time at work when your options are Subway and Sushi Boy. So generic, these guy do not even try to make food that will taste good. Just Generic, bland tasting everything. I mean I guess for under $ 10 meal, but you have to be really not in the mood for anything else. I give it a ‘Meh”.

I honestly don’t know why I thought it was a good idea to have lunch here. I had every intention of going to Flame Broiler, which is immediately adjacent to Hong Kong Express, except that it’s not open as of 10÷20÷15. I ordered the chow mein with orange chicken for $ 4.99+tax. The orange chicken was mostly made of fried batter. The chow mein was bland and soggy.

Not all Hong Kong Express restaurants have the same wings… These are 5 star wings!!! Very generous portions too. All the food is good! Best to buy the wings as a side bc they will make u a fresh batch if the order is big enough. Great owners… they made me fresh chow mein 15 min before closing…

Been here before and food was ok! Thought I’d give it one more chance but again I was failed. Orange chicken has bones in it and almost broke my damn tooth. Two thumbs way down and I’ll never be back. Told one of the workers but all she said was«Orange Chicken has no bones!» I said ummm yes it does and maybe you should check the rest of the batch!

One of my favorite fast Chinese food places, been coming here for years and I’ve never had an issue. The food is not as greasy as other places and the options available are great. But, their garlic fried chicken wings are the best ever!

«Chickity China the Chinese chicken You have a chicken wing and your brain stops tickin… UHMAHGAWDYOUHAVETOTRYTHECHICKENWINGS!!!» — Bare Naked Ladies The food here is typical of your Chinese fast food joint. But the chicken wings? Mmmmmmmmmmm… yum yum yum! Reasonably priced and amazingly tasty. Stays hot and crunchy longer than your«Average»(looking at you Wingstop) chicken wing. AWESOMECHICKENWINGS = 5STARS!!!

The food is fresh really delicious. We got orange chicken, teriyaki chicken with sauce. Super delicious. Egg rolls were fresh. My husband I split the combo and it was enough. It didn’t taste heavy. The orange chicken was crispy and crunchy and the pieces were evenly coated. Stop by. CASHONLY. Combo c three piece 8.50 plus tax.

Tried this place today for lunch typical Chinese fast food. Good tasting, very fresh, and decent cost. I got the chicken wings with my normal meal and ended up with a heaping mound of food that I ended up sharing with my coworker all because the reviews for the garlic wings were overwhelming I had to try them. Now I am not a wing fan I normally find them to much trouble for very lil meat and taste. These were amazing! huge wings so much flavor and so crispy. Now they are salty but I love my food salty. So good even thinking about picking some up for the husband to try.

The fried garlic chicken wings is all I get. Good price and tasty. Good to bring if you’re going to a BBQ.

Food is overall bland, particularly the fried rice and chowmein. There just doesn’t seem to be any flavor whatsoever. Same applies to their teriyaki chicken; not to mention, the chicken would be a bit ‘rubbery.’ Very strange. As for the orange chicken, there’s flavor, but it just isn’t all that great either, unfortunately. Prices aren’t bad overall, but the food quality just needs to be better.

HK express has been a staple over the past few months and the taste is still as bomb as the first time. You can order all veggies instead of the carbs, and combined with the Spicy pork robs and Teriyaki Chicken, it makes the perfect cutting meal(and it’s actually good!!!) This is my six-pack shortcut(if it wasn’t douchy I would upload a picture of my abs as proof of this magical food)

Let me start by saying, my review is based solely on customer service, hence the two star rating. Customer service is horrible! This isn’t my first experience, in fact, it’s my second visit to experience this unfriendly and horrible customer service. The gentleman is actually the owner so I’m sure he doesn’t care and may even have the attitude, if you don’t like it, don’t come back. I’m sure a lot of customers feel the same way but here is the kicker… Their fried garlic chicken is the bomb!!! No kidding! 5 stars for that gosh darn delicious fried garlic chicken. If it weren’t for that garlic salt chicken, I wouldn’t go back but since it’s good, I’ll live with that horrible customer service.

Their garlic chicken is absolutely the best. It’s basically crispy, deep-fried chicken wings seasoned heavily with garlic salt and green onions. Whenever I’m attending a potluck, I always order a half tray of the garlic chicken($ 32, and they stack a huge mound of wings in that half tray, I think about 45 wings total). The chicken stays crispy for a really long time, much longer than it will take for everyone to gobble these things up once they get a whiff of that mouth-watering aroma. I’ve been told that this specific Hong Kong Express is the only location which has this particular recipe. Most of their other fare is average. They say their orange chicken is their most popular dish, but it seemed pretty average to me. Besides the garlic chicken, their green beans with chicken and their eggplant are probably their two best dishes. And they give you a lot. If you order a combo plate, your clam-shell container will be literally bursting at the sides with food. If I’m stuck with trying to come up with a quick dinner for the family, a three item combo is usually enough to feed three of us(I get just the chow mein, no fried rice). This Hong Kong Express is located in a mini-mall on the northeast corner of Western Ave and Artesia Blvd, across the street from Marukai. There’s an Albertsons as the anchor store, and HKE is right by a Papa John’s Pizza and a Chipotle. Cash-only, so make sure to bring enough. If you want a half tray or more of garlic chicken, call in your order the day before.

Pros: they heap mountains of Chinese food into the take-out box thingie so that it can barely close Cons: all that greasy Chinese food probably isn’t good for you TL;DR: Look, I’m not ashamed to admit that my guilty pleasure is takeout Chinese food. I get giddy when I see tray upon tray of Chinese food glistening behind the sneeze guard. Beef with broccoli. Kung pao chicken. And of course, the king himself, Orange Chicken. Nothing beats that sweet yet sour gloop coating that delicious fried meat. And let’s not forget the chow mein. I love me some spaghetti, but chow mein is the ultimate comfort food. I don’t even mess around with that half-half nonsense. Why would I want disgusting stale rice in my dinner when I could get 100% greasy noodle goodness. Mmmmm. Coat my stomach with grease, Hong Kong Express. You coat it good.

Okay, what can I say? This spot really wowed me. My friends live in the area and I came to visit for the day, and I’m from the San Gabriel Valley. We have a lot of Chinese spots /mom and pop spots… and this place out beats it all. Why do they have 3 stars? I don’t get it? We ordered a party platter for $ 20! With chow mein, beef broccoli and the teriyaki chicken. It’s really worth the price… From where I come from! Plus I would like to add, their fried chicken wings… HANDSDOWN. You have to get this! We pre-ordered ours so it was ready for pick-up within a few minutes. The fried chicken was crunchy, not over battered fried to crispy perfection. WOW! And the salted seasoning, with the green onions just adds the perfect taste! Am I coming here again? YES Would I recommend this place? YES Seriously… Fried chicken wings on football Sunday… I’m going to get 4 orders of that next time. (Tip: cash only)

Located in Gardena Marketplace next to Papa John’s Pizza, Hong Kong Express serves Panda Express-style Chinese fast food, where food is ready-made and stored on steam tables. While service is fast and efficient, the quality of the food is quite inconsistent. All combo plates come with chow mein, fried rice, or half and half. I really like their chow mein – flavorful, yet not too salty with some cabbage and onions mixed in. I usually just get chow mein as my side, since sometimes the rice can be dry. Food: Portions are very generous. They fill the box completely! — Orange Chicken — Ranges from huge to smaller bite-sized pieces. On some days, the chicken is moist and flavorful, while other days the meat is dry, and the batter coating is hard, as though it has been dried out from the heat lamps. — Beef Broccoli — Large pieces of broccoli with beef. The beef is often quite chewy. — Green beans with Chicken — Can be fresh and crisp or soggy and shriveled depending on the day. Sometimes chicken can be really salty! — Egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce — Always crispy and the filling has a good ratio of meat and veggies. Overall, this place is pretty hit or miss. If you’re lucky enough to come when a fresh batch of food has just been made, then you’re in luck! If not, then be prepared for mediocre quality. Also, don’t go at the end of the day… food has been sitting there for a while and there is barely any food left in the trays.

I only get the party try of garlic fried chicken, and it’s pretty good! Sometimes it can be really salty and other days it’s made perfectly! I’ve never gotten anything else from here so I can’t rate anything else. But definitely try the fried checks you won’t regret it! To be honest the check even taste good cold haha.

This is the kind of good & cheap Chinese food I love! I call it ‘Mall Chinese Food’ — and I mean it in a good way :) Lots of choices, ready when you get there, big filling portions and good. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want! It has a buffet steam table with several delicious entrees to choose from plus chow mein & fried rice. My son and I both got the 2 entrée plate with rice & noodles. I had Mushroom Chicken & Orange Chicken; he had Spicy Chicken & Sweet and Sour Pork. I sampled all 4 dishes and they were great but my favorite was the Mushroom Chicken — Yummy! Ordering Tip #1: Get the 2 entrée with half noodles/half rice and you will be full for the rest of the day. We ate our meals there and the dining area is clean but sparse. No condiments or napkins on the tables and you take your tray to a table cafeteria style. I saw complaints here about the staff; while not chit-chatty they were not rude at all. The lady that came out to take care of the catering customers was friendly and professional. Ordering Tip #2: They don’t take cards so bring cash or else you will need to use the atm. While we were there several people came in to pick up catering orders and they seemed to be returning customers. That’s always a good sign and I plan on trying them out myself next time I have a party.
