These guys diagnosed my car and gave me a competitive quote to repair it. I chose not to have the work done as it was still not cost-effective to replace the engine that I’d blown towing a travel trailer over the Luther Pass(hence the 4 stars, not 5). Mike gave me great advice on salvage value, and I felt that they were honest and ethical people. I highly recommend them and wish Brian best of luck with the business after Mike’s retirement.

Worst service ever. Mike the owner stated that a transmission fluid change would be $ 89. Using my own fluid. Fine. Get the bill, it was $ 230. He had performed diagnostics I told him I didn’t want, and charged me for an earlier visit that I had asked him a question. Charged for asking a question. I confronted him on it and he flipped out and told me to never come back, grabbed the bill from my hand and tore it to pieces. I think it’s time for him to retire.

I have taken my Corvette into Mike on several occassion it’s an old Corvette 1978 it seems when I go there to get fixed I have to come back for him to FIX again I had an oil leak and its leaking more now that when he has supposed of fixed. I have a Motor Home he was suppose to fix engine light went on again I was in Elko NV had to drive it back I called him said I would have to wait a couple of weeks before I could take back to him WRONG Answer I took it somewhere else and got it fixed the first time. I, m done taking my cars to him so I can come back for him to fix again. He is problably good at changing oil but I lost my respect for him.

How do you write a review with two completely different results? I completely agree with the other reviewer, Mike is awesome. I have taken a couple of my cars to him, and he treated me fairly, didnt go nuts like some repair places do(oh my god! you need 10,000 things done right away!!!)…he fixed what was wrong and did it quickly and his rates are fair. The only problem I ever had was when Mike was in the hospital after his car accident and his brother(in-law I think) was running the shop, he tried to charge me $ 190 for a part that goes for $ 60 – 80 and wanted to charge me for hooking up to the computer… he said he needed to find out what the problem was… uh…just because Im a woman doesnt mean I dont know about cars. I told him what I wanted replaced, I knew a sensor went out and I said replace it… I did not say run diagnostics to see if thats what the problem was and replace because I already knew what was wrong… so just fix it. You cant just do whatever you want on someones car and not get approval for it. I told him to call me if my cost was going to be over 150. when I got there it was over 275 and I looked at the bill and said, whoa! why didnt you call me… and why am i being chaged $ 180 for the sensor when I can get it at Kragen for 65… he had the office lady check the invoice and I saw they were charged something like $ 80…that is not kosher, he ended up discounting the part but still charged me for the diagnostic, my total was about 190 when I was quoted 150. I havent been back and wont go back unless Mike is there, hes the reason this is a good shop.

Mike at Golden Nugget is great. I have done business with him for several years and he is very trustworthy. If you need a repair he will be honest with you and also be fair on the price. Mike and his staff are great about letting you know what you absolutely need to have done to your car, what may be coming soon, and they help you prioritize you car’s maintenance in a way that won’t break the bank. The work Golden Nugget does is always appropriate and timely. Generally they have never had my car more than a day. If the work is minor I have even been able to wait for my car and have it fixed up in less than an hour. I highly recommend Golden Nugget for automotive service and repair.
