This location is the second location of the Gold mine. The quality of the inside is a lot better then the original location. But plain with no history like the other building. The food is good at this location same as the other. Prices are the same for the breakfast an lunch and dinner. You pay very cheap an get a lot of food. Hardly a wait an moderate to busy. Service is fast. Food 5 of 5 Cleanliness 5 of 5 Service an wait staff 5 of 5 Multiple visits in the past 4 months all have been a 5 of 5 experience. You should try it before you judge it, Try the chicken fried steak sandwhich.

Sweet little diner. It appears to have a large following of older locals that know all of the specials and do not need a menu. I needed one and I was very happy with the huge selection of goodies to choose from. The breakfast was pretty great, but nothing I can’t make at home. The chicken fried steak and chicken fried steak sandwich were pretty good. As far as the steak goes, it apparently has an award from the Observer from several years ago. I didn’t think it was the best I’ve ever had but you can tell they use buttermilk in the batter. Yum!

You must be no younger than 65 to eat here… and don’t come in hungry because you’re going to pay a hefty penny for not a lot of food. And just so-so food at that. I’m not sure the draw to this place… but it seems quite popular with the senior crowd. They even reserve tables for their regulars. Very interesting dynamic here. The service staff is friendly, but most definitely quirky. Doubt I’ll be coming back next time I’m in town… at least not until I’m pushing 70 years old or so.

I have a friend who is almost as big a fan of Chicken Friend Steak as I am. When I saw that the Goldmine got good reviews for their CFS, I decided that we needed to give it a try. I won’t be going back. The CFS was OK but hardly worth the drive. The gravy and mashed potatoes were good but were served at just above room temperature. That was the end of the good. The sides were awful. The green beans were canned and served with no additional seasoning. When my friend forked into the pinto beans, he made a face I have never seen him make. I was afraid that there was something seriously wrong with what he had put into his mouth. It turned out that he just seriously hated the way the beans were cooked. I had to try them just to see what was so awful. They weren’t awful but they were over seasoned with some kind of commercial spice mix and were really salty. I ordered a cole slaw that was so uninspiring that I didn’t bother to eat it. The service wasn’t remarkable. The server was personable, but we got no service after our meal was delivered. The menu said that the meal came with cobbler. When we told the server that we were ready for the cobbler, she explained that we just didn’t understand the menu. So, we pointed out where in the menu it said that cobbler came with the meal. It developed that CFS shows up in multiple locations on the menu with various arrangements of sides. There was no way for us to know that. We didn’t study the menu, we just ordered CFS. My friend wanted cobbler. I told the server to just bring us cobbler. The cobbler was a bowl of thickened peach juice and about 2 square inches of a thin crust. I almost never avoid sweet things but that cobbler presented nothing that tempted me to go beyond the first taste. I don’t know how much we paid for it because the bill came with a total and nothing else. To have paid anything was too much.

Mission — The best Biscuits N Gravy in Dallas/Fort Worth. Classic favorite, been their for years, so many regulars they yell across the café. The waitstaff was friendly, the service was somewhat slow. The breakfast was just ok. Finding a perfect over medium egg is hard to fine — they overcooked them. The bacon was great, crispy just like you want it — the coffee was hot, fresh and quite tasty. Then it came to the Biscuits N Gravy — NOT! The gravy was a thin, bland and the biscuit was that frozen kind that was thick, heavy and not very hot. FLAT! Not worth the 30 min drive… Not the Biscuits N Gravy Im looking for… the mission continues.

This review has been a long time coming as Goldmine has become a weekend hangover destination spot for me. As far as hangover food goes, this place is ok. I typically show up in my sunglasses and drink about 3 Cokes and scarf down the meatless breakfast burrito. My boyfriend is a huge fan of «The Goldmine Breakfast Special», and orders that just about every time we go. I’ll deviate and order other things off the menu, but the breakfast burrito is generally my first choice. The oatmeal is also edible. My favorite thing about The Goldmine, however, is the waitstaff. These ladies are a jovial bunch and every time we are in there they joke around with us about something. A lot of the time I feel like I am at my Aunt’s house having breakfast instead of sitting in a restaurant. The prices are reasonable as well; a breakfast with 3 people generally costs us about $ 24. This is a Garland Greasy Spoon, y’all, with a down home atmosphere and sense of humor. Also, if Marlyn ever waits on you, ask if she wants another cat.
