Very nice dinner spot! It’s small place but not overcrowded and has a very cozy gas fireplace pillared in the center of the restaurant that creates a very nice atmosphere. The service was wonderful, the waitress was very nice and knew the menu and items like the back of her hand. Pretty much everything she offered us was home made including the hush puppies(which are amazing), corn pudding(amazing as well), all of their dressings, and a lot of others. My girlfriend had the catfish and corn pudding and loved it and I had the buttered garlic shrimp with a bed or rice and a twice baked potato, it was the best shrimp and twice baked potato I’ve ever had by far and shrimp is my favorite food so I’ve had some great shrimp in my day but this topped it. We definitely lucked out, we were originally just looking for food and stumbled upon an amazing meal.

5 stars for the food and 3 star for the cooking time. So 4 star by average them. The trout were really really good. Best of the best, definitely worth the price.(For the price, please expect $ 25/person.) But it took so long. We came to the restaurant at around 6:45 on Sunday evening and only two groups of guests(around 7 people in total) were in the restaurant. But it took them about 40 minutes to bring up the trouts. I can’t imagine how long it may take during a busy hour. Anyway, food worth the price and the wait. But just the wait was too long.

I really liked it — great food. Interiors looked it could be a movie set from Twin Peaks.

Quite a wait for a Sunday night, but that just pointed out that this restaurant was popular. Hard to get actual veggies here. Corn pudding was good, but I don’t really consider it a vegetable. The hush puppies were delicious and right out of the fryer. The salad was served in a pewter bread tray-like thing that gave it a metal flavor, but the blackberry vinaigrette was yummy. I had the smoked trout and it lived up to expectations. It was tender and quite smokey flavored. Overall a good experience except for kind of slow service, due to their being busy.

We enjoyed dinner here. We arrived at 5:10, so we managed to get in without a wait. Love the proprietary feel from the staff. Both my steak and my wife’s whole smoked trout were on point. Was a little disconcerted to have a bust of Napoleon staring at me disapprovingly from across the street – probably because I didn’t order trout.

Ah, the Trout House. This little slice of the old Gatlinburg I grew up with hasn’t changed very much since it opened. No nouveau Appalachia pomp or moonshine here. Just simple, honest food. The restaurant itself is small and a bit dated, but it’s well-kept and loved by the family runs it. I really need to give a shout-out to our waitress, Mary. She was quite possibly one of the nicest, friendliest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking care of us. She’s been there for many years and treats everyone like you’re her only table. She’s a gem! Hubbs and I both ordered the smoked trout, which comes with a side of mushrooms and onions in bacon butter and with a salad. The salad was cold, crisp, and served with homemade dressing. Corn pudding was the special side of the day, and my-oh-my. I was so glad I didn’t get a potato like I had planned. It wasn’t as good as my grandmothers(is anything?), but it sure was close. The smoked trout is served whole and comes slathered in the same bacon butter you get on the delightful little bonus side dish. Of course everything comes with complementary hush puppies! The Hubbs and I had a friendly war of forks to see who could snatch the last one of these little corn bombs. May I suggest dipping these little buggers into that bacon butter the mushrooms are relaxing in? So would I go back to the Trout House again? You bet, in a heartbeat. If I don’t have a heart attack first after downing all that tasty bacon butter. Did I mention the bacon butter? You should try the bacon butter.

This place was fantastic! We had no idea what we stumbled into. From what I understand– All the trout served is locally caught, it was super fresh! If you like fish at all– this restaurant is a MUST! All of the salad dressings are made there in the restaurant and the raspberry vinaigrette was the best I’ve ever tasted! The owner was super nice, I kept telling him how much I loved the salad dressing and he actually gave me the recipe! Service was great too! Jayme was our wonderful server. The boyfriend and I tried the dill trout, smoked trout, Fried pickles, fried zucchini, hush puppies, corn pudding, and a twice baked potato… it was all great eatin’!!! We can not say enough about how much we loved the trout house! So glad we decided to eat out that night!

My first trout experience We’ve eaten in most of the restaurants in Gatlinburg so I decided it was time to be adventurous and try trout. I ordered the house specialty which was Trout Eisenhower served with bacon butter and sauteed mushrooms and onions. The trout was pan fried with cornmeal breading. I poured the butter over it and ate every bite. It was delicious. The vegetable of the day was corn pudding and it was great. Our server’s name was Barbara and she was very helpful with my first trout experience. She asked if I wanted her to filet my trout when she brought it out. I said yes please as I have never had trout before but I watched her in case I need this skill later. She made my first trout experience very enjoyable. I can’t wait for our next trip to try a different trout dish.

Great place. I’m not real ‘wordy’ so this is going to be short and sweet. This place is very nice. Nice atmosphere. Relaxed attitude. Awesome service. Great food. We had the Dilly Trout and the orange marmalade, coconut, moonshine trout and both were excellent. Clam chowder is also very good. I’d come back in a heart-beat!
