The worst place I’ve eaten in years! Everything was greasy even the pad Thai. Bread was under cooked served with oil that tasted like grease from the fryer. Monte Cristo was greasy, tasted like it was fried in old grease. Server apologized, that’s it, even French onion soup was awful!

Monday night. Lava shrimp. I was with a party of three. I ordered a salad to come first, the shrimp to be my entrée. I got the shrimp. My two tablemates got nothing, although they too had ordered an appetizer. I do not like eating in front of people who have nothing! Our wine glasses were empty for a LONG time. We had no water. Granted they were very busy, but it will be a LONG time before I go back.

Food was mediocre at best. The menu has more Italian dishes than seafood of beef as the name Seacow implies. Nothing special here. I will not return.

Showed up on a Saturday night and when we were sat down, we were the only people in the place. This is prime time, Saturday night rush… well, anywhere else but here. We asked our waitress for an extra minute and she proceeded to then sit, get drinks for and take an order for a party of 5 who had just walked in… not once even looking in our direction. We made this known to the manager who said she’d take care of it for us. We said we weren’t interested in waiting, we just wanted to leave. She proceeded to bring us our bill for $ 3.18 for the small glass of Iced Tea we had ordered. If any of this is indicative of how they«take care of things» I would be willing to bet that this time next year… this building is once again vacant. The restaurant business isn’t easy to succeed in. I found this out the hard way myself, it seems that the owners of the Sea Cow Grill want to do things to hard way too. I’d have given 0 stars for my review, but Unilocal doesn’t allow for that.

Great place to take your date. The food is great and is one of the best restaurants in Geneseo, key words«in Geneseo.» When I say the food is great, it really is. When I have gone, regardless of the choice, the food has tasted wonderful. The only reason why it does not get 5 stars is because of the wait time. It does take some time to get your food but when it arrives, it’s well worth it. The low ratings are a bit shocking but I think this is a place you should check out.

The SeaCow deserves no less than 5 stars for my experience tonight. I was waited on by attentive and very friendly staff who seemed genuinely interested in how I was enjoying my meal, which happened to be excellent. A freshly baked loaf of homemade bread started things off, which was quickly followed by a perfectly medium-rare and well seasoned NY strip. I went for the twice baked potato on the side, also very tasty. Dessert was a slice of key lime pie made with real key limes; there is a difference, and you have not had key lime pie until you’ve experienced said difference.

I was hesitant to bring my dinner date here recently based on the low ratings thus far but I’m glad I did. SeaCow is MUCH better than I expected and is a great choice given the few restaurants in the area. The name of the restaurant, I figure is a play on the surf and turf theme? The place seems a bit awkward. Not quite classy, but not tacky/chain restaurant either; some people were dressed up, there were some birthdays at other tables, but I didn’t feel out of place at all in shorts and a t-shirt. The menu has everything from seafood to steaks to pasta, and the ambiance has a slightly nautical feel to it, but is dimly lit and could have a romantic vibe if you were trying to impress. Our waitress was adorable and delivered outstanding service. She was so efficient and helpful with the menu and handled the balance between being attentive and not hovering, perfectly. Appetizer: we went with the Lava shrimp. This is basically the same thing as Bang Bang shrimp at Bonefish grill. The sauce had a kick to it, and was tasty but you could really taste the mayo in it and it was on the salty side. Not a bad choice though. After the shrimp we were brought a freshly baked pillowy loaf of bread that we proceeded to demolish. Score! Entrée: I went with one of the«specials» called Jiuliana’s chicken. It was good overall. A thin, moist grilled chicken breast topped with spinach, sundried tomatoes, and feta cheese; it was NOT visually appealing the way the cheese had melted, but tasted ok. The twice baked potato I had on the side was also pretty decent. My date had the tilapia and the plate was cleaned in the blink of an eye so I can assume it was better than good. Dessert: Key lime pie, I don’t care for this but my date really liked it. I had a 2nd beer for dessert. The prices, I thought were reasonable. Neither of us had pasta but a good portion of the menu is devoted to italian dishes so I think I may try one of those next time. Will definitely be back when in the area.

This review pertains to an organized event I had. The manager hid prices and had a totally different price than we were led to believe. On top of this, they didn’t even let us reserve the whole restaurant even though we took up ¾ of it. We refrained from delving into private matters because there was a family and a child sitting a few feet away. The food was a buffet style and was actually pretty good. It looks like some people have other opinions on the food but it’s rare to see a huge quantity of food taste that good. All in all, I would never recommend this place to anyone for an organized event. Too expensive and poor management.

I had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. The desserts were everyone’s favorite. I had the brownie sundae and it didn’t disappoint!

I went here last night for dinner and it was great! I can’t believe how low the other Unilocal ratings are. The service was excellent, the food good and it’s cute inside. It’s a funny random building and the bar area is nicely done. I had a lobster roll and it was delicious and a nice glass of house red wine.

Thought this place would be better than it actually was. The French onion soup was very good, and that’s about the only thing. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich… 25 minutes later my sandwich comes out on two massive buns. More bread than chicken. The other two people I was with ordered burgers which took twice as long as normal. Overall, it’s a nice, fancy place but we waited very long for food that wasn’t the greatest.

We were told there was a twenty minute wait for a table. Fifty minutes later, we were seated. Our waitress was friendly and kept our drinks filled; however, after we had our appetizer, we waited. And waited. When it was time for our entrees to arrive, the waitress told us that the kitchen just informed her that they were out of baby back ribs, so one member of our party had to reorder. Then we waited another twenty minutes or so for our meals to arrive. Several in our party ordered fish sandwiches. They are listed on the menu as having lettuce, onion, and tomato. There was only lettuce on the buns. When we asked about the missing tomatoes, the owner brought out tiny sliced cherry tomatoes. Really? To top it off, my husband had ordered a twice baked potato and it was cold — not lukewarm but actually chilled, as if someone just grabbed it out of the refrigerator and didn’t bother to warm it up. Gross. We live fairly close to this restaurant, so if it had been any good, we would have become steady customers. We won’t be returning and we will be warning others to stay away from this restaurant.

So I’m not sure what the other postings were looking for? I ate here this evening. They had a fair selection of specials. Our group of 5 shared the Lava Shrimp appetizer. It was the right amount of heat for a diverse group of people. I actually could have handled a little more but I can handle a very intense amount of heat. As a group we order quite a bit of variety of the menu. I had the NY strip(med rare) and I added the crab cake. I will say I was impressed with one breathe that the waitress went and asked if the crab cakes were fresh and made on the premises or if they came in frozen. On the other hand, the waitress had to ask… why don’t. You know the menu better. A bit harsh comment but as I travel more and more I find a better creditability when the waitress knows the menu. The crab cake was not frozen, which means a lot for me. The steak was cooked a tiny bit towards rare… but in my book that is awesome compared to it being over cooked. I had asparagus as my side. Steamed instead of grilled… so they lost a few points there. Other people had the sword fish, the fillet minion, the pasta cabanara, and the Delmonico. All cooked very well and everyone enjoyed there meals. We did find out that this restaurant just opened about 6 months ago under the current owners and received their liquor license just 3 months ago. They serve some of the local wines of the Finger Lakes which is a very nice touch. We had a great time with very good food at a reasonable price. I would recommend this to most of my foodie friends.

Quality of the food is mediocre. My steack was cold when it cames to the table. My friends asked for a carbonara pasta. He didn’t like. The service is good. Too expensive for what you eat. I won’t come back. :(

I went there on 8÷20÷13 with my mother. We ordered the scallop appetizer. There was four tiny scallops wrapped in bacon and topped with maple syrup. The taste was about average. Not much creativity. Very boring! Also ordered the seafood bisque. Absolutely disgusting! Tasted like ammonia! My mother got a stuffed shrimp special. On a scale from 1 – 10, I give it a –30! Worst thing I’ve ever put in my mouth! The crab cakes were the best part of the meal. And they were subpar at best. The only reason I gave it one star was the service. Our server was great!

Had the same experience as John K when we went a few weeks ago-we even called to see if we could eat at the bar and they didn’t even bother to say they had no liquor liscense. When we got up to leave they didn’t do a thing to keep us there except look guilty that they werent honest on the phone. We will try again some day but the people at the door might want to learn a few things about the service business.

The server was terrific! He was confident, pleasant, and came back often to check on us. Now since the place has only been open for two weeks, I’ll still be honest and acerbic as always. I expect in this day that if you open a restaurant, expect to serve guests, and collect money for it, you can be judged and if you have read my reviews, I have high standards and can be harsh. We walked from the Hampton Inn next door across the Bowling Lanes parking lot to the Sea Cow. We had no reservations and were seated at the last table on a Sunday evening. I don’t know if there were events in town to suggest why the restaurant was full or if Geneseo clammers for fresh blood but they were packed. Without a liquor license, yet, they were offering free wine to guests, including my 16 year old daughter. She started with the Crab Cake App, and I had the Lava Shrimp touted by the waiter. The shrimp was a nice try but the breading was falling off the shrimp, and everything else that was breaded but that’s later. The Crab Cake was mostly filler and uninspiring so it was just ok. The Lava Shrimp was their version of NOBU’s rock shrimp with spicy sauce. The Shrimp lacked shrimp flavor so I suppose they need to up the quality of their vendors. The loaf of warm bread that we had to ask for was clearly in the style of a frozen round oven loaf. It was fine but not homemade although I could be wrong; it seems I’ve had this exact bread at other restaurants. I must say that we had to have ordered wrong. My entrée was the Veal Parm, and my daughter chose the Eggplant Parm. Both really needed help. She played with hers, and only ate half of mine. We are seasoned Little Italy regulars so great Italian food is not foreign and even Little Italy has fallen off from the great old days. Both dishes here were barely passable with a boring red sauce. The breading was falling off the Veal and Eggplant so this was improperly prepared. The fries were frozen, of course, just out of a bag and might have been borrowed from the Bowling Lanes next door. As I said, I ordered wrong, or did I; my first thought was to go with the shrimp scampy but it seems in the end, I ventured off and made a bad decision, as did my daughter. On the plus side, food came out fast, so the pain did not linger for too long. I really hope the owners read this and take it as a recommendation to use spices, or better spices, take more care with what they buy as raw ingredients because you cannot hide subpar and frozen fish and seafood. The chef needs to pound and season his veal, and not use a slicer or mandolin to slice eggplant to 1⁄8th inch slices. Burning the Veal was a crime, even if it was only a tiny bit, including the cheese. So the best was the Lava Shrimp. I know that readers are going to love this food but I can tell you, they are wrong if they say this food is delicious, as are 75% of the patrons of restaurants in general who don’t know what really amazing food is. If you have had Peeking Duck at the Peeking Duck House at 17 Mott Street and tell me there is better other than in Hong Kong, you don’t know great food. Go to Per Se in NYC and dine there or the French Laundry in Yountville, dine with Tom Keller, then we can talk food! As a final thought, the Chef Jackets that the servers were wearing would make Gordon Ramsey go off in a tirade because there is only ONE Chef’s jacket in a restaurant, and that is on the Executive Chef. Wear Black on Black or a white Shirt with a Bistro Apron, anything but a chefs jacket. When the waiter first came to our table, I really thought the Executive Chef was coming to say hello, or welcome us. Then the fantasy was over. We’ll be back a some point to see the end result. Geneseo really needs some fine dining!
