We loved this place. Today is their last day in business in Georgetown. :‘(

Thought they had a really good selection of meats, sauces, and spices. They could have offered a bit more selection of veggies but it was pretty good. The bowls they give you to put your meats and veggies in are very small. Luckily, their staff is VERY friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful and told us the secret about putting the carrots all the way on the outside of the bowl to create a bit of a wall to hold all the veggies on top in. It was kind of a pain to have to jump through this hoop just to get a reasonable amount of food in our bowl but at least they were nice enough to tell us. Unfortunately, that would probably not be an option during peak times as it was really time consuming. Without that, I do not feel we would have gotten enough food for the money at all. With that, I felt the portions were adequate for the money. The food was good, the staff was super friendly, and the place was nice and clean. If you ask for a punch card, you buy 10 bowls and get one free. I would eat here again but think they should give out slightly larger bowls for the price without having to create your own veggie wall.

Love the style in which the food is made. However, the price is a little much if you plan on taking the whole family. Great taste and attentive staff. I kept finding eyelashes in my food?

OHYA now this is good food you make it the way you want and change it any way you want. I don’t follow any of the recipe cards they have I just go with what I think looks sounds good to me and I am never disappointed. Highly recommended

My wife and I love this place! We have been enjoying Genghis since it opened. I get to design my own food bowl, and they cook it to perfection! Yum!

Not your conventional or traditional Mongolian BBQ but still good. Mostly Mongolian BBQ’s serve frozen thin sliced beef, pork and chicken that you mix with assorted vegetables and sauces then the chef stir fry cooks on a large circular grill, Well Genghis serves similar but the meat is all cubes and not thinly sliced and tends to be a little chewy. Both my wife and i asked for the rice to be in a separate bowl, and not together with the meat and vege blend which they completely ignored, and then tortillas served with the stir fry not your traditional pita pocket bread, I’d go there again, but not a lot… good bar but unusual happy hour rules 4 – 6 pm and then after 8 so if your there at 7pm you will pay $ 4.50 for a beer that if you wait an hour you can get for $ 1.50 Full bar service, well stocked. clean and attractive décor. Solid three stars but no more Giving you the Honest scoop on good eats and great treats.

Decided to give it another try after speaking to their manager who had also heard complaints from other diners on the same night. MUCH better this time. The restaurant was fully staffed and the employees were working hard to keep the food bar both clean and well stocked. The grill cooks also went out of their way to be friendly and accomodating, even asking if you have any food allergies. By far the best Mongolian experience in Central Texas and rapidly becoming my go-to place for Asian food.

Was looking for a place to host a group of 10 without any hassle and I found the perfect place. The hostess(Tiffani) was awesome and took her time to explain to the newbies how it works. The atmosphere was great and the food rocked. I have been to a lot of Mongolian BBQs and this one blew them all away. I will be back! BTW $ 1.50 Happy Hour pints!

I love this place, you can make your meal however you see fit. If you have a food complaint it’s your own fault because you obviously didn’t make the best choices. The servers are way better than they used to be and overall they are all pretty good. The food bar does get a little messy at times. We go very often and will continue to return as much as possible.

i thought this was a fun place to go to eat! you go in and grab a bowl and fill it as high as you can(without spilling) and hand it to the BBQer. he cooks it up right in front of you almost like a japanese steakhouse but not a chef for each table. the place looks great not shabby or run down but professional and authentic. as well as having the benifit of being new in a new building so you know what you see is what you get.

I used to *love* eating at the hole-n-the-wall Mongolian BBQ place on N. Lamar. I ate there for years with nary a complaint. And then they had new management for a while, and then they closed. That was a very sad day for me. I have tried the Mongolian Grill on N. 183, and it was okay, but I missed the«original» in my mind. When I was told there was a Mongolian place in Georgetown, I was initially wary. When I walked in the door, it was clear this was WAY swankier than the dump I enjoyed for so long. When I discovered it was a chain, I was skeptical. But I have to say I was pleased. I liked the range of choices on the meats, the seasonings, the veggies, the sauces, and even the starches. And they had *eggs*. My taste buds were very pleased. I don’t get up to Georgetown very often, and often when I’m there with my Mom and sister, we have a challenge figuring out where we all want to go. Genghis Grill is something we can all agree on wholeheartedly!

Cooking your way. The great thing about this place is that you can chose what you want and stack as much as you can… the biggest problem, as one of the reviewers mentioned, is that the bowls are on the small side — that having been said, if you cram your food down into the bowl and learn how to stack well, you can certainly build a dinner that will spill over into lunch the next day. The pricing isn’t bad, especially if you eat there. You can upgrade your $ 9.99 bowl to a $ 12.99 unlimited bowl AFTER you finish your first bowl… this gives you the opportunity to eat and see how full you are before spending the extra $$. The deserts are definitely worth it too — $ 3.95 for a good sized slice.

UPDATE: A dozen Monday night visits later, this place is still going strong. I’ve noticed that the serving areas and floors are cleaned more often than our first visit. They also added disposable gloves, which is nice if you’re trying to cram a few more veggies into the kinda-smallish bowl. Service is also holding steady. If you’re doing a coupon or the free Khan’s Reward bowl, be sure to mention this to the server beforehand. On a few occasions they charged me for things I had to sort out after the fact, which tells me they don’t always read the coupons or check your Rewards balance before ringing up the order. I still feel the most underrated part of the Grill though is the $ 1.50 pints after 8 pm. Bud Lite, Dos Equis, Ichiban… all of them a buck fiddy! That’s cheaper than the Cokes people.

Another lunch-time adventure that I really liked. I like the concept of mongolian bbq and enjoy being able to build by own meal. Genghis has fresh ingredients, and a wide selection of veggies, meats, and seasons to add. When I was there, they were pretty busy, but I was impressed with how fast I got my food. Service over all was friendly, and pricing was fair(about $ 10/person). I’m sure I’ll be back for lunch again! Tip to SU community: They take Pirate Bucks.

Way up in the northern reaches of Georgetown, the hinterlands teeming with blue-hairs in buicks and on Rascals, a new corporate chain concept restaurant has opened. I can only imagine your shock at hearing that there is another chain restaurant in Georgetown(in the chain-a-licious Wolf Ranch Shopping Center, no less). Bear with me because this one is actually pretty good. Genghis Grill incrementally improves the tired old Mongolian Grill restaurant concept with slick logistics, good quality ingredients, and a nicely appointed space. Per the standard Mongolian Grill formula, diners fill a bowl with ingredients from a buffet line, and the cooks cook the pile-of-food on a big metal griddle. I was pleasantly surprised to find real chunks of fresh steak, chicken, and pork instead of those horrifying little frozen ‘chips’ of meat. I was also excited to see shrimp(small) and scallops(microscopic, but tasty) on the line. The seasoning station was also a nice touch. I added Dragon Salt to my bowl because dragons are cool, and, I assume, delicious. Veggies were pretty standard for the genre. Sauces are pre-assembled, so there is no recipe board to follow. While my stir fry was cooking, I took a number placard and went back to my seat. A few minutes later, a waiter brought my food. It was delicious. The chef who created such harmonious flavors must be a culinary genius. The dinner bowl set me back $ 9.99, and there is a bottomless/unlimited bowl option available for $ 12.99. Several patrons around me were drinking fru-fru cosmos and such from a well-stocked full bar, but I didn’t try the booze this time. There were a few rough spots in the experience. First, the provided bowl for stacking ingredients is über small. It’s like the Gary Coleman of mongolian grill bowls. I was stacking and cramming that thing like the Beverly Hillbilly Moving Service, and still I was a bit disappointed with the portion size that came off the grill. Secondly, this place reeks of sanitized corporate franchise flair. Table flip menus trumpet sugary drinks and desserts with silly names like the Khan-a-rita. Overall, Genghis Grill really does advance the art and science of the Mongolian Grill concept. The food was good(for Americanized Asian-esque cuisine) with solid service in a nice setting. Recommended for shoppers at Wolf Ranch or folks passing through Georgetown.
