Service is non-existent. We had a 7PM reservation and was not met by a hostess for over 5 minutes. We then tried to have a cocktail and wasted another 10 minutes. My recommendation is do not bother! They obviously were not interested in serving us tonight.

First time in Gettysburg, and we really enjoyed our experience at Sidney’s! Initially, we found the atmosphere a bit perplexing — it’s apparently the former golf course clubhouse transformed into a restaurant, but the place is decorated with amazing pieces of art that are worth seeing. The service was great. It was not particularly busy, so perhaps we were able to receive more attention from the staff that normal, but everyone was very king and the waiter was attentive and knowledgeable(about the food and the art). My wife ordered the strip steak, which was not cooked to her liking(she’s more than a little tentative when it comes to rare steak), but they cheerfully threw it back on the Grill and it came out perfect. Her potatoes were delicious(I sampled both the steak and potatoes). I ordered the crispy chicken with Yukon gold, peanut infused whipped potatoes with greens. First, I’m compelled to say that my plate was a flat-out work of art(currently trying to figure out how to add my photo). I don’t normally order chicken out because, well, it tastes like chicken(which is ok, but when I’m ordering out… I want better, like steak). I have to say, it was one of the most delicious meals that I’ve ever eaten(and did I mention that I don’t normally order chicken?). The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and delicious. The skin was just a perfectly crispy compliment to the chicken. Just amazing! And the potatoes! I actually thought that it was squash due to the color, but when I tasted it, I was pleasantly surprised. Just the right amount of peanut flavor, and great consistency. Delicious! I was really impressed with my meal. My compliments to the chef! Yum!

In an area without a lot of upscale dining options very close to Gettysburg, Sidney seemed like the best choice when visiting the area this weekend on vacation. I’m taking away a star for the ambiance and location — we didn’t realize it was a country club until we got there — the turn-off is not well-lit or well-marked, the place looks closed as you pull up(7:30 on a Friday night), the parking lot is extremely dark, the covered area outside the entry is largely devoid of plants or any decoration. We walked in, and it definitely felt odd — walked through a piece of their large event space which they’ve lit with candles on a line of tables so it feels less like a sectioned off part of a ballroom, but it just makes it feel strange. It was an unseasonable 77 outside when we got there, but they had fireplaces and heat going full blast, which made for an uncomfortable dining room, but when asked, they turned the A/C on, so that helped. All of that said, the food was good. The chef sent out a really good parmesan tuile as a welcome. We started with the pita & hummus, which was good, and the sweet potato gnocchi, which were excellent. We all had different main dishes: I had the harissa-rubbed tuna steak, served with jasmine rice, grilled eggplant and curried chickpeas, and it was excellent and unique — I hadn’t had a dish like that before. The bacon-wrapped filet was well-cooked, though its preparation was pretty standard, the meatballs with polenta were really nice, and the chicken dish was good, if again sort of standard. The portions are generous. The desserts were a bit lackluster — a wide variety of sorbets and ice creams, but the lemon was only so-so, and the crème brûlée was definitely not in the top 5 I’ve tasted. But overall, a very solid meal. I was the only one who got a cocktail — it was alright, but I can’t quite remember what was in it — lemon, champagne, something else? Not outstanding — I wound up nursing it through the meal. The wine list by the glass is a bit abbreviated. Also, as of 10/2015, their website’s menu is somewhat out of date — the waiter said they’ve had trouble getting it updated. About half the dishes were different, which is completely fine — still good options.

Had dinner at the bar on a busy Friday night. The bartender was terribly busy, but exceptionally nice and attentive. Probably the fifth or sixth time we have eaten there, as our son goes to college nearby. Another exceptional meal, highly recommended. Great attention to detail, superb quality, and great service.

Made reservations for 7pm. Got there at 6:50 and was able to be seated. It was very busy but they still had our table ready which is always nice. The food was DELICIOUS! Our waiter was also SOGOOD. My boyfriend & I split the crab macaroni casserole. Large chunks of real crab really made the dish. It had enough cheese to be creamy but not enough to overpower the crab, which I find sometimes happens. I had the pumpkin soup and the summer vegetable pasta. The soup was creamy and delicious. The summer vegetable pasta was AMAZING. Fresh pappardelle pasta with a creamy but light sauce, perfectly cooked wild mushrooms and peas, and edamame. It even had edible flowers which were a fun treat. The desserts that passed us looked great but we could not eat another thing. Definitely going back.

We love this restaurant! Gourmet food at reasonable prices. The service is top notch. I feel like I’m in a 5 star New York City restaurant! Highly recommend.

Very nice place my boyfriend and I came here on vacation and were very pleased. We had the crab macaroni and cheese, my boyfriend really liked it, i thought it was good. Too crabby for me. Brussel sprouts were delicious. So was the cheese spread and pâté. Our server may have been the best part because she was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. Would definitely suggest it to someone if they were looking for a nice, fancyish, quiet dinner.

Had lunch here. Although GPS showed it, we weren’t sure we were in the right place. It is not well marked from the main road. We liked the décor and ambiance contrary to what some said. Okay, it’s not the typical 1860’s look of most of Gettysburg. The view was lovely, tables were not crowded together, and liked the large entry. Our server told us it used to be a country club which help explained the layout. Restrooms were beautiful. When traveling and stopping somewhere, that’s always a plus. One had a turkey wrap, the other a fennel/greens/chicken salad. Both were tasty and well presented. We had spent most of the past month near Carlisle and commented that we should have made the trip to this place earlier. Our server was friendly, professional and attentive without being obtrusive.

Back to Sydney’s a year after our first visit. I’m happy to report they are still there and have grown. When we came last year they were only in a bar space in the front of the building. This year for New Year’s Eve Dinner, they have opened a nice dining room with a dozen or so tables in addition to the bar. We ordered the calamari pizza appetizer and really enjoyed it; not as much calamari as I expected, but it was very tasty and pretty zippy with the green peppers. Bette doesn’t eat much pizza but she had a piece that night and two more the next morning before breakfast Their caesar salad was very special; never had one quite like that before. fresh cheese shavings, anchovies that were super salty and a very unique dressing. Bette had brace of quail with leeks. I had the crab ravioli. Everything was prepared very well. I don’t think the crab was chesapeake bay crab, which I would have preferred. We didn’t get desert because the B&B back in town had all sorts of home baked sweets under glass waiting to lure us in. Gettysburg is a quaint town. The next night we called around only to find that most inns were closed. We had asked at Sydney and heard they were going to be open the next night, so we had two night of great food. Bette had a veal medallion and I had the angus medallion and we shared another great caesar salad. Both meals were as good as the ones we had the night before. The big room wasn’t open, so we were served in the bar, which is quite nice; quiet and warm. Service on both nights was excellent. Sydney also has a place in East Berlin, PA, but we haven’t tried that yet.

For work purposes, I spend two weeks in Gettysburg every summer. Until Sidney’s opened, I used to leave my tastebuds home in a drawer, knowing they would not be needed in a place where the restaurants produce food so consistently blah it’s amazing. You can’t say that about Sidney’s. If you eat here, you will not want to eat anywhere else in Gettysburg. The food is first rate. Small plates with creative tastes and textures top the bill. The outdoor seating area is beautiful and tranquil. For bourbon lovers, try the bourbon flight before dinner. It’s hard to beat. There is just no other place around for miles that even comes close to any like this.

I will admit, when my husband suggested we try this restaurant for dinner, I was skeptical that my less-than-gourmet palate would appreciate the meal. I was wrong. So wrong. This food and this place are fabulous. No joke, best meal of my life and my husband said the same. We had the following: pumpkin soup, tempura broccoli, pink Caribbean shrimp, roasted Brussels sprouts, roasted chicken, and the short ribs. The pumpkin soup was velvety, creamy, and delicious, not an easy thing to attain with a water-based soup. The garnishes only added to the outstanding flavors. The broccoli was like no battered vegetable I’ve ever eaten. The crunch of the breading was well intact, but not at all greasy or heavy. The dipping sauce(a lemon-soy aioli of sorts) was heavenly. The pink Caribbean shrimp were nicely seasoned, served over a broth that was smoky and touched with just enough salt. I wasn’t a fan of the large beans in the broth, but I just skipped them in favor of more broth. Do not miss the Brussels sprouts… served with roasted butternut squash, walnuts, and cranberries, these were a thanksgiving side dish in the making, one that’s sure to please everyone in the crowd including the vegetarians. The roasted chicken was perfectly seasoned, moist, and had a crispy skin that was almost ethereal in its lightness. The sauces worked well together to give the chicken a subtle sweetness that made you want to devour the whole plate. The short ribs/steak plate was gorgeous and delicious. The short ribs had an amazing depth of flavor, with a sauce that was nearly chocolate-y in its color and consistency, and the steak was wrapped in bacon, cooked with a great seasoned crust, and tender in the middle. These were served on a polenta of sorts, which was a perfect vehicle for these two great proteins. Do not let the atmosphere comments sway you; we were seated in the front room(with the bar) and between the updated décor, the view of the rolling property out back, and the jazz music, we were in heaven both from an aesthetic and a culinary point of view. Two more things: the service is outstanding and friendly… be prepared to joyfully tip 20% or more. Also, for the food I mentioned, the bill was just about 120, before drinks and tip. I seriously can’t think of a better value for the money in Gettysburg. We will be back to this place!

A foodie kind of place. Hands down the best restaurant in town. The RISSOTO is great as is the steak.

Really nice, more upscale dining option in Gettysburg. The space is a bit weird. You walk in and there is a giant event room to the right and then the bar/dining area to the left. We walked through the bar portion, then through the event space, into a separate dining area, which almost had a more formal feel. The food and service were very good though and we soon forgot about the atmosphere. We loved our shrimp and sausage appetizer and the salmon was great for dinner. The portions were reasonable and we were still hungry for dessert. Loved the farm to table /fresh feel of the menu

If you’re looking for a solid, upscale place to dine in the Gettysburg area look no further than here. Awesome food, a solid, albeit short, wine list, and great service. We started with the Caribbean shrimp, which were fantastic, and the ahi tuna, which was good as well though overshadowed by the shrimp. For our entrée we both had the salmon and both loved it, and loved the chocolate 3 ways dessert as well. It’s not touristy and about 5 minutes from town, and totally worth the journey. 280⁄365

Like some other reviewers we also felt at first the setting was off-putting: it’s part of a golf course – plus when you first enter you are confronted with a banquet hall set-up. The restaurant itself is off on the side, with what looked like a nice outside dining area. The interior dining area(where we sat) was a large room that looked like it was part of the banquet area. It felt like they could take down the walls and we could have been sitting at some wedding dinner. Aside from that, however, all was excellent. The food was creative and tasty and service was efficient and friendly. Wine was well-priced with a decent selection. All in all, a very satisfactory dinner.

I work next door so it’s not uncommon for me to grab lunch at Sidney and even though I don’t branch out and try all of their lunch options, I’m still impressed with everything that I get, EVERY time. Their take on a burger and fries is surprising and wonderful! The Pita and Hummus is amazing. I love that they use lots of herbs and spices in their food and you can tell they really take their time and take pride in their food. If you can, sit out on the patio because the view is gorgeoys. Oh, and stop by Gettysburg Day Spa while you’re here. ;) Just a few steps away!

First things first. This should be a 5 star review!!! The food, service and bar are some of the best I have experienced. The problem… EVERYTHINGELSE. impersonal location, terrible venue, HORRIBLE design and outright laughable ambiance. It took away from our experience big time. Roasted Brussels — fantastic, seasoned perfectly and just enough pork fat and smoke flavor. 5 stars Pita & hummus — outstanding. Pita was grilled perfect, hummus and olives were top notch but the fees tzatziki was the best we have ever had. Not your typical yogurt base. My guess was ricotta or something but it was phenomenal. Pork belly — this was the most average of our meal. I won’t knock it too hard. I like crispy pork belly and this was braised I believe so I was not into it. Kimchi was great though. :-) Salmon on pea purée — EPIC! Salmon was perfect. It was the peas that stole the show! I have never had pea purée with this texture and taste. Kudos chef. Lamb t-bone on root veg — the lamb starred. Perfect temperature. Seasoning was spot on. Nice and salty! Root veg was fantastic as well. Love the presentation. Garden gin and tonic — I’m a sucker for Hendricks gin. You have to try this. Just know that when they say muddled jalapeños it’s H O T! Very good

Excellent food & service. We sat outside on the large patio, comfortable chairs. We started with cocktails and then a massive fireworks display went off in the park, amazing! Perfectly cooked steak and the scallops were amazing. The miso tuna was excellent! Best restaurant in the area.

A lovely experience from start to finish. We’d eaten at «Big Sidney» in East Berlin several times before, so knew the food would be great from Chef Neil Annis. Sitting outside on the patio on a gorgeous summer afternoon only added to the experience. Our server Tim was first rate, knowledgeable about food, wine, and cocktail menus and very efficient and friendly. Started with a bottle of Pouilly Fumé which was delightful. The seasonal soup was amazing: chilled creamy kohlrabi base with thinly sliced jalapeños and radishes coupled with micro greens and a cilantro oil… perfect combination of cool and spicy. We then shared the white pizza and the tempura tuna roll. The pizza featured basil pesto, shitake mushrooms, grilled radicchio and just a slight shave of lemon zest… WOW! Truly special. For dessert we split a warm blueberry cake with limoncello sorbet and a rosemary tuille, again WOW! Great flavor and texture combos. This is such a nice contemporary option for Gettysburg locals… as a tourist with limited meals to eat here you may opy for the more historic venues but when you’re here year round a change of pace is really appreciated. Will definitely return soon! P. S. Some are calling this a «tapas» restaurant which it absolutely is not. There are many«small plates» offered for lunch and dinner, but this is not traditional Spanish tapas, it is strictly New American style cuisine.
