I went to the Glastonbury store for a bridesmaid dress a few months ago and have had nothing but bad experiences with them. While we were there, the sales lady was really pushy and honestly quite rude, almost bullying us into buying the dress. They had a very small selection of dresses. After we bought our dresses, it took a ridiculous amount of time for them to come in, much more than any bridesmaid dress I’ve gotten before. On top of that, my dress was TWO sizes too big for me, when the woman measured me in the store and I had not lost any weight. Her alteration prices were high so I took it elsewhere and had to have it taken in a lot, but it still looks bad because it was way to big to start. I would not recommend this shop for bridesmaid dresses.

I have been super busy lately and this review should have been posted about 3 months ago. So here goes: I visited the Glastonbury location.
First off my mother and I drove by the place a few times before we realized where it was. It is kind of tucked away in a corner and from the outside does not look like a normal store or bridal shop. It is actually a house. But trust when I say, you walk in … and Voila! Dresses galore. :-) You are greeted immediately by Chris or David. They are both very sweet and straight forward with what works and does not work on your shape/​form. Neither were pushy and were really there for me on my decision. I really felt special there. Their prices are fair and they were both pretty understanding and personable. My mother didn’t have to get involved and act like my security when we were there (unlike some of the other bridal shops we visited). I felt like I was looking for my dress in there with my friends, rather than some salesman/​woman trying to push his/​her taste on me for my wedding dress. Chris has a good eye for details and she was very sweet. David was sweet and had my mother and I laughing so hard the whole time we were there. and in the end… I said yes to my dress. I would definitely refer their service and shop to any friends and family. I’m also grateful that the experience was not painful… AT ALL (relieved and happy sigh). Small shop, good home/​friendly feeling and you leave very satisfied. I sure did.

Fairy Tales has a wonderful selection of dresses. Our experience with the alternations howeer were horrific. She requires cash, the prices of the alterations are through the roof and the alterations looked like a toddler did them. When I expressed my concern with the alterations, the person I spoke with never said bring the dresses (3) back in and we will repair to your satisfaction. At the wedding, the back clips on all three dresses broke, girls carried safety pins with them for emergency and the hem on one dress was uneven. Buy the dress there, DO NOT HAVE THEM DO ALTERATIONS.

I actually reviews this store already and explained their horrible service and how they ordered my bridesmaids dresses in the wrong color. I now see they are no longer listed as the Glastonbury location. Their page on Unilocal saying they were in glastonbury is now gone. Actually the shop in colchester has been closed for a while now. They are only located in glastonbury, but they had so many negative reviews I think they must have changed something in their listing. Don’t be fooled!!! This lace is awful!!! Terrible service, rude, inaccuracy abound!!!

I wish I had read reviews for this shop before I bought my maid of honor dress here. I wouldn’t recommend Fairy Tales to anyone looking for bridal party gowns.
Our dresses arrived 3 ½ weeks after we were told they would. I called week after week asking when they would be coming and was not reassured or helped in the least. When they finally came in 2 weeks before the wedding, they wouldn’t offer us a discount off of the dresses or even an apology. It left very little time for alterations, which we took to another business since Fairy Tales was so unreliable and provided such poor service. Since this situation, I’ve heard from other friends that they’ve had similar situations with this store, too.
All in all, a very disappointing customer service experience and I won’t be returning here again.

I loved this shop, staff was great, selection was different, lots of pretty dresses here, decent prices. I believe they closed this location but they still have one in glasotnbury.

So I’m probably the bride from hell, since I couldn’t make up my mind which dress to buy. I went to the fairy tales stores in Glastonbury and Colchester several times, since some of their dresses were on my «favorites» list. Although each store has a moderate selection, I found more dresses that I liked here than at most other stores. The saleslady Gina was very helpful and I really enjoyed working with her. I also appreciated that she let me take pictures of myself in the dresses, something that other stores wouldn’t do. In the end my favorite dress was at a different store, but if I could, I would have purchased it here instead!
