I love this place! The veggies are always just right especially the broccoli!!! The owners are special and take care to accommodate you. A great value for the money and really fast food! My all time favorite Chinese takeout food restaurant! I have not found another place like this elsewhere ! I’m going to miss them so much when I move to NC! I want to take them with me!!!

I never leave bad reviews, but I just had to! Forget the fact that there were about four pieces of chicken in the container & zero veggies. We ordered three dishes & one soup! All w/o taste! Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Worse than mall food sitting out all day. We will not be heading back!

Food was great! Was grabbing some last second take out for my wife after work. Walked in and it seemed like the family was just hanging out as the night was winding down — I love that! Extremely friendly and the food was hot and on-point! Definitely going to make this a regular stop.

3 stars. the good, egg roll, very nice, the combo sweet and sour chicken was also not bad. i did not like my pork fried rice though. no soup either, so a bit on the cheap end of the chinese food spectrum. i guess i would go back, but between this and the last outing i had at another c-food place, im done, i cant eat the msg/greasefest for a loonngg time. sorry tong, your entire cuisine is getting omitted for a long time.

I won’t go anywhere else in the area for take out chinese. The price is right and so is the food.

Their fried dumplings are seasoned just right. As well, I get to enjoy some complimentary tea while I wait, which is never longer than five minutes. Lastly, the staff is always quick with a hello and a smile.

I have been coming here for many years. I have ordered meat and vegetarian meals from here. They will cook things as you ask for special items, or special combos. Their fried rice for my money is the best around — rice is not mushy, it is cooked with the veggies and\or meat, it has flavor and color(unlike those nasty white or yellow fried rices i have had. Mu Shu is excellent, Egg Rolls are exceptional and fresh, spring rolls are very good. I always get tea(free!) with my take out order. Pea Pods with Bean Curd, Chicken with mixed veggies. For vegetarians, ask to get your bean curd fried — they will do it. Veggie versions of MuShu, Egg Rolls, many other things, are available. The owners are wonderful — they remember who you are when you are repeat customer, a rarity these days. i have tried Gourmet Wok, the Marlborough Asian place, and several others around, but I always come back to House of Tong.

Nice people — I usually only order apps… Steamed Dumplings are good(fattening) but good — make sure to ask for the red hot oil and hot mustard… order takes about twenty minutes(just enough time to grab a beer at The Diamond across the street).

This is our go-to place for Chinese takeout in Glastonbury. I normally get the chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce as a combo with fried rice and an egg roll. They use white meat chicken for that dish, and the broccoli is good quality and plentiful. My daughter loves the Sesame Chicken, but they use dark meat for that, so I’m not really a fan. Good fried rice and lo mein. There are tables and chairs, but this is definitely a place for take-out. Usually ready in 30 minutes. They take credit cards.

It’s a-ight, I suppose. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for The House of Tong, but then again, this isn’t exactly Mott Street’s finest eatery either :). As for the food itself… It’s by no means gross, inedible, or bland… But MAN is it greasy. And I assure you, I am the type of fellow who understands that ANY takeout Chinese food can be expcted to have some level of added fat… But when you finish a plate of Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, and the remnants have physically separated from what appears to be a solid quarter-cup of pure oil… That’s kinda pushing the limits… So, I suppose you could ask them to cut back on the oil. Other than that, my only other complaint is the lack of brown rice. You’d think a Chinese place in a snooty town like G’bury would serve this… So yeah, It’s fine if you need somethin’ quick and cheap for lunch.

Good food, nice prices(not ridiculous at all), nice people. Definitely a take-out place. REALLY good beef & broccoli, I pick that up a couple times a month. They also have excellent pork fried rice. Very tasty food, this is a great place to go when you want«comfort Chinese takeout food». The owners/workers are very nice people. As the other reviewer mentioned, there is a bit of a language barrier, so make sure they know what you want(I circle it usually). If you become a regular, they get to know you pretty quickly, so as soon as you say your name they’ve got you covered. Nice little place for Chinese takeout!

Nice people run this small chinese take out place. Typical reasonable take out prices. Food is good but you must speak clearly or point to what you want. We had a few mix ups with orders likely rooted in not understanding our english. Woman and her daughter christina are very pleasant. Often run specials with free soda included. Nothing fancy but will hit the spot a cozy dinner of take out with a loved one. Dont reccommend eating in. Definitely take out.
