This is a step up from McDonalds/Burger King but not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination and not as good as Five Guys. The burger, not wafer thin, but on the thicker side of the pre-made patty spectrum. Has a pretty good flavor. The bun is grilled which really is a nice touch. French fries are also generally pretty good. I miss the days back when they had the krinkle cut fries. Friendly’s is known for having very slow and poor service, and I took away a star for this. Now admittedly a couple of times I have been amazed at how fast it was, but don’t count on it. The best part of the size of the burger is there is usually a little room left for ice cream.

I have two kids, so I have been dragged here on a fairly regular basis for the past few years. It’s never been very good. Service is always slow, and the food isn’t the greatest. After last night, I don’t think I will ever go back to this location. Service was ridiculously bad, the chicken in my sandwich had a huge piece of cartilage in it, and my ice cream sundae had freezer-burn ice chunks in it. I’ve been to the Wethersfield location once, and had a better experience there. So I think I’ll try that next time. I wish Shady Glen was closer.

Yea it’s a chain… but with a toddler, sometimes this is the only option. I don’t want to annoy other patrons when eating out with my baby, so I stick to places where the potential of a screaming child will not bat any eyelashes. Staff here is generally friendly and helpful, especially the waitresses. I had a couple issues with the walk-up window in summer, but I think this was 1 specific local student with an attitude problem. Didn’t seen her in there at my last visit, so I’m not going to downgrade all my experiences because of 1 bad apple. Ice cream is dependable, so are the entrees. If you expect filling, reasonably priced food that is not at all fancy, you’ll be fine. For some reason, the fried foods taste fresher.

Its a chain like Dennys but its got a spin on the menue. I really love the clam chowder and fribbles from when I was a kid!
