Although I am new to Unilocal,I am not new to what should constitute a 5-star review. I have been to Hurley’s dozens of times over the years, and the consistency in both customer service and quality of food always delivers. The enthusiasm and passion the servers and bar tenders display tells you that these employees love what they do and are happy to be here. The fact that many of them have been here since the place opened three years ago and still have the same level of positive energy for what they do says more than any review ever could. What makes this place so welcoming along with the fast, friendly service is the camaraderie the other patrons share with each other and a nice, laid back, unpretentious atmosphere. As for the food, I have tried nearly everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. If you are a fan of chicken wings, I would highly recommend Hurley’s wings and putting them to the test against any other wings in the Richmond area. Although the wings are breaded, they are not soggy like other breaded wings often are, and the unique flavors such as Buff-A-Que(Buffalo combined with Bar-B-Que) add the perfect amount of zest to a timeless classic. In my opinion, Hurley’s is the«Sultan of Wings.» Another delicious food item worth trying is the phenomenal selection of burgers which offers an interesting twist on the classic traditional hamburger bun: Hurley’s puts their burgers on Texas toast! While I was hesitant at first to veer from the usual hamburger bun, the Texas toast concept works really well for these burgers, and the patties themselves are juicy and full of flavor. Should you prefer something with fewer calories, or if you are vegetarian or vegan, this is also the place to be! Hurley’s offers several options that are both vegetarian and/or vegan friendly. They also offer gluten-free items as well, so regardless of your diet or eating choices, you will find something on the menu that will impress you. These options also mean there will be something for everyone in your party should you wish to come out with a large group as the menu will accommodate nearly any diet. The selection of craft beer is also rather impressive. If you are a fan of Virginia craft beer, you can rest assured that there will always be at least a handful of VA beers as well as some from the RVA on tap. Hurley’s also has a nice selection of IPAs, stouts, and other beer styles, so you are certain to find something you will like. Another nice perk is the extended happy hour which runs from 2 – 8, much longer than many other bars and restaurants. They also have a couple of beers on the«Beer du jour» menu that are $ 3.00 at all times, day or night! Interested in playing trivia? Hurley’s is one of the few places in RVA that also has Buzztime play makers, so you can play trivia with your friends and show off how much you know and laugh at what you don’t! You will also have no problem finding a place to watch a sporting event as there are TV’s all over the place, and just about every seat in the house offers a good view. Finally, once the servers and bar tenders meet you, they immediately call you by your name, and they REMEMBER you the next time you come in. After bringing my girlfriend here just one time, she also started receiving the royal treatment, and it’s a pretty good feeling to know you’re in a place where people are happy to see you. Being at Hurley’s is almost like living the TV show Cheers, and who wouldn’t want that friendly welcoming each time you return? The dedicated employees, amazing food, and genuine laid-back atmosphere and ambiance set Hurley’s apart from most other places I have visited, and it’s for all of these reasons I am always eager to return!

Yes 5 stars. No fancy cool west end décor. The place is a bit worn. I see that as proof of its popularity with a crowd that parties hard while watching one of dozens of TVs broadcasting sports. Though sports was not why we went. We went because it was close to work and we were hungry. My husband got the fish and chips. The other reviews are correct: amongst the best ever. What the other patrons don’t say is that you get two huge battered and perfectly cooked flakey white flavorful filets. The seasoning flavors are just right albeit a bit salty for us. We will be drawn here again for the fish and chips. We can get over«salty». I got the burger. Check out the pictures on this site. Those pretty well sum it up. But what you don’t get from the pic is the wonderful fresh tasting beef patty flavor. They definitely make these burgers from 8 oz of the freshest best tasting ground beef ever. I ordered mine medium and it was perfectly cooked pink and warm. The kitchen got this one exactly right. The prices are very reasonable. We are now fans. Don’t pass this place up.

Held an office function drinks and apps and made a great discovery. I worked with Mark from the start and our area was ready when promised, food came out timely and as he agreed. It was all hot and fresh. All the apps we had were outstanding. Great wings. Waitress/bartender was outstanding as well. Excellent customer service. Heading back in a week for an alumni chapter function. If your looking for a place to hold a function with 20 — 30 folks I recommend Hurley’s.

I like this bar. I was visiting Richmond for a week and really liked this bar. It was close to my hotel. Good menu looked good and the fish tacos were very tasty. Sweet and spicy. Great beer selection and the service is awesome. Nice and friendly local bar with daily happy hours. Great for watching football including rowdy Pittsburgh steelers fans.

I had the French dip and it was really good. The portions were good and the tater tots were crunchy. My girlfriend got the«big«salad» and we were surprised when we got the salad how small it was for $ 10. She got grilled chicken on it but still you can get side salads at other restaurants that are much bigger. She said it was good, but just don’t expect a dinner size salad. The beer selection is really good with a lot of regional beers and they have a happy hour $ 4 special that is tough to beat I will add that my girlfriend said that he women’s bathroom smelled badly. Not a bad place for bar food.

Friendly service, great beer selection, and good(and interesting) food. They do all of the little things right that make me want to come back. Wings are top notch, & the steak and potato bowl is serious comfort food.

Attempted to come in on Sunday, when I reserved a table, but they had given my table away because I was not there early. I understand that it is football Sunday — but don’t make false promises. The bar area is good for watching football, but the dining area not so much. Bar area is small. Big Al’s is close by — much better!

If it was’t for sammich week, I probably wouldn’t have ventured out here too soon. It’s in Innsbrook shopping centre so the parking is tough, and then it’s roo close to Beach House for my comfort. I like to have fun, but they have some shady characters that show up at Beach House– and then stay there for the rest of the night. Noooo, thank you. Anywho, I came here earlier in the evening to get the Edgar Allen Po’ Boy. What might that be, ye ask? Well, me fellow, lemme tell ya! Crunchy, seasoned, yummy deep fried shrimp on a bed of lettuce, pickles, sauce, and a nice sub bun looking bread piece. I thoght there wouldn’t be much shrimp, but boy, was I wrong. There were so many shrimp pieces that I actually kept dropping shrimp pieces onto my pkate every time I tried to take a bite. At the end if my bun, I had a nice collection of shrimp. I don’t geberally like fried shrimp, but I di know how it should be done. And while they were close, they had fried the shrimp a little too long and underseasoned the batter. But hey, for $ 5, I’ll take it!

My fiancé and I are new to the area and decided to check out Hurley’s last week. The food was pretty good(and they had several vegetarian options!), and they had a great selection of local beers. The bartender was our waiter, and he was friendly and provided excellent service. I told him the types of beer I generally like and he recommended two local beers — both of which I loved. They also appear to have live music each week and have this great outdoor patio. We didn’t get the chance to check it out while we were there, but we’ll definitely be back! Great local bar.

I keep coming back when in town on business. The place continues to be a great place for food and drink. The friendly waitresses and owner keeps me coming back.

The beer selection was great, the food is decent but the service was great. The beer prices are good also. After horrible service at Capital Ale House we walked to Hurleys and found a relaxed dive bar we enjoyed.

Review is for wings only Buffalo — not sure if they just forgot sauce or what, but these tasted like a plain fried wing. Not a hint of buffalo. No sauce, nothing. Had to be a mistake right(it’s on the menu as buffalo sauce)? Parm garlic — yes this is a dry rub, no it doesn’t stick well to the wings, and no you don’t taste much parmesan, or garlic. The wings themselves were decent, a little oily, not very crispy, but if they would’ve had just a little bit of flavor my review would be better Two pieces of celery with an order of 10 wings? I didn’t realize celery was so expensive. Blue cheese dressing was pretty standard doesn’t-actually-taste-like-blue-cheese dressing, and who doesn’t give napkins with a takeout order of wings?

Wow! What a hidden gem. In search of wonderful burgers, my girlfriend and I tried Hurley’s tavern. The ½ burgers are extremely well made. We like ours medium rare and the burgers where so tasty. They offer two types of patties. One with peppers and one original plain. The pepper one is good, but plain is everything but. We have visited Hurley’s tavern 3 times in the past two weeks, and the burgers were consistently delicious. If you are a sports fan, prepare to have every possible game available for viewing. The wait staff is pretty good and attentive.

Hurley’s is the best kind of no frills. The service is cheerful and swift, and the food is really, really good without being pretentious. We ordered 20 wings, 10 teriyaki and 10 buff-a-que. The teriyaki were a little too sweet for me, and the buff-a-que started out good, but I wish they had a little more kick to them. No worries; we’ll just go for good olé buffalo next time. The wings themselves were nice and crispy and had a lot of meat and flavor to them. The burgers were amazing, served on Texas toast that was buttery and garlicy and delicious. We ordered our burgers tavern style, which means that the patty was formed and mixed with onions, poblano peppers, and some pretty great tasting seasoning. My burger was perfectly medium rare. It does get a little pricy when you start adding cheese and other toppings to your burger, but it was super tasty just by itself. Seriously, this is a damn good burger. I’d love to try everything else on the menu, but I’m pretty impressed so far.

After scouring everywhere for a good sports bar to watch college football in RVA, we stumbled upon Hurley’s. I cannot even begin to say enough good things about this place! We have had our fair share of the apps. The chicken chili nachos are incredible. The husband doesn’t like nachos, yet devours these up. The potato skins are incredible — lots of flavor, yet not too greasy. And, let’s not forget the boneless wings! I’m usually a BIG fan of buffalo wings, and they certainly do not disappoint, but the teriyaki wings are where it’s at. As an FYI, on big game nights, they will have tables reserved for fans wanting to watch that particular game(the booths all have control of their own flat screen TV). Just keep that in mind!

Nice evening out on the West End. DH brought me here for Friday Night Date Night and proclaimed this to be «his kind of place». Nothing fancy or pretentious but a nice sports bar with a pretty good pub menu. DH and I were intrigued by the deep fried mashed potatoes. As I have never met a potato I did not like, I knew that we must give them a try. They were served as fried little puffs, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside with a side of their buff-a-que sauce for dipping. Since it was still Happy Hour, we also decided on two orders of chicken wings, each order with a different sauce. Wings were served hot, crispy and delicious. The atmosphere is certainly sports-pubby with loads of TVs with every sports feed DirectTV has to offer. The only thing I did not like is the giant banner for Auburn University(as I went to the University of Alabama, Auburn’s arch rival). Also, on a nice day/evening, you can enjoy the patio out back. I would also like to compliment Hurley’s on their service(Holly, in particular), which was fast, friendly and accommodating. So with good food options, good service and good prices, DH and I will certainly be back. Maybe we can even convince them to show an Alabama football game on one of their many DirectTV channels during football season!

A lot of people say«it’s pretty hard to mess up wings» so with that saying, most wing places are pretty average and don’t really stand out. But I say, «it’s even harder to make wings spectacular». I am gonna say it right now, Hurley’s Tavern may have the BEST wings I have ever had, anywhere. Although they aren’t really known for wings(or at least I dont think so) they should be. I got half my wings with an Old Bay Dry rub and the other half with a Rajun Cajun sauce. The wings came out piping hot and were NOT all bone and little meat. The flavor of the old bay dry rub was deliciously amazing and the Rajun was just spicy enough for me to sweat but not ask for my mommy. The wings are a must try here. The owner, Billy, is very nice and actually came to our table and asked how our food was. It’s clear that they care about customer service here and want people coming back and I know I will. Our waitress(Taylor.?) was also pretty nice and checked up on us frequently. Combine excellent wings, an affordable menu with great customer service and I’ll be a repeat patron for sure.

This was my first time here, I came for a Unilocal event, and sampled a new menu. I had no idea Hurleys was even here hidden in the area. They have a nice size bar, and a super friendly bar tender that is such a cutie pie. We enjoyed chatting with him, and the rest of the staff there. The food was great, my absolute favorite was the white chicken chili, it has just the right amount of spice and heat to it, the ray ray shrimp was a close second. Loved them both ans secretly wanted more! There was a deconstructed burrito and fish taco that was yummy too but the chili and shrimp trumped it by a thousand. Sorry, did I mention the white chicken chili again? Yassss honey! Cause it was THATGOOD! Who knew this place was tucked away in the cut like this? Nice surprise! I will definitly be back soon. My bf was excited to see a nice line up of beer to choose from, so we will see you soon Hurleys.
