Don’t do it. I know what you’re thinking… Wow Irish pub! That must be awesome — no. I bet they have excellent Irish food — no. I bet my food will be cooked and not gooey inside — no. Stay away. It is awful. Yes, you go inside and there is no one else. That is because it is terrible. What did we get? Fish & chips, chicken salad, shepard’s pie. All horrible. Save your money and grab a burger and bottle of wild turkey you will have a better experience.

This place was always a great place to go because it wasn’t busy and it was very chill. They had excellent fries(I’m a total french fry junkie). I’ve also been here for trivia night because who doesn’t love a good trivia night? The other food is so-so, but still a nice atmosphere.

Kind of a small place, but it has character. My wife and I went on a Saturday, but it wasn’t crowded. She had lobster bisque, which was good. I had the Irish potato soup, which was loaded with potato chunks. Wife had fish tacos, I had the Shepard’s pie. Both were pretty good. The service was great. We had 3 different waitresses who checked on us or got us something. They did a very good job of keeping an eye on the customers, regardless of who was the assigned waitress. We will go back.

Just a cool spot to have decent food and some cold beer. You won’t leave upset

Just because you have fried fish and shepherds pie on the menu and guineas on draft, that doesn’t make you an Irish pub. This is a dive bar with mediocre food and service that left a lot to be desired. The shepherds pie was overcome with rosemary, the«fisflh n chips» greasy and our waitress, though friendly was not very knowledgeable.

Save your money unless you just want to go there to drink. Tried to eat there 3 times. Never a good meal. Flies everywhere last time. Have not been back since.

Finn Mccool’s is a fun place. They have good daily specials especially 35 cent wings on the weekend. They also have Off track betting if you like to bet on horse races. There non special prices are a little high but not absurd. Overall a fun place to go if you enjoy an atmosphere that doesn’t have a thousand people.

My dad and I tried Finn McCools yesterday and be both ordered the fish and chips. The fish was pretty good. The chips were american chips, not the normal chips that you expect to get with a fish and chips. When I saw that, I knew my dad(Irish born&raised) was going to say something about it: «You messed up my order. These are crisps!» But they do have the malt vinegar, in case you like malt vinegar with your potato chips! Don’t get me wrong, we ate the«chips» anyway and they were good, but it was a little bit of a let-down when you are expecting something else. If you go and order the Fish & Chips, you might try asking for them to swap the potato chips with fries. I would probably order it again if they do the swap. The wives both ordered wings and weren’t impressed. They both felt the wings were overcooked.

for what it is I was pleased. i was aware thant finn mccools was an «irish pub styled» casual dining chain so I wasn’t expecting anything super. I stopped in for an early lunch today as i was in the area and I felt the need for some fish and chips. I was seated immediately and our drinks came ASAP after ordering them. Not that it should be any different for a couple beers. my fish and chips came very quickly. under ten minutes. They were well battered but not too much soo. chips were good, but were under seasoned. I ended up getting my meal with a guiness and a reasonable tip for about $ 18 for a quick lunch while out doing errands I wasn’t displeased, but probably only because I had a serious fiending for lots of fried fish and potatoes and thats kind of hard to fuck up.

We visited Finn McCool’s on a Wednesday around 6:30 pm. The restaurant was busy but far from full. Service was ok at first with friendly waitstaff and at first glance the menu looked promising, with a variety of sandwiches, Irish entrees like shephard’s pie, and several pizzas. The major issue turned out to be the wait for our food, and the quality of it when it did arrive. It took around 45 minutes or so to get our order of 1 personal pizza, 1 reuben sandwich and 1 turkey club. My reuben was a little stingy on the corned beef, and totally lacking in thousand island dressing. The fries were dried out on both of the sandwich orders. The pizza did not look appetizing at all, it actually looked like a cheap frozen pizza with some tomatoes and basil slapped on. They did have a decent selection of beers however, with Smithwick’s, Guinness(of course), Magic Hat #9, etc. We probably won’t be back — compared to other Irish pubs like Sine, Rare Olde Times, and Rosie Connolly’s, who actually have really good food and better ambience, Finn McCool’s misses the mark.

Cool place! This bar used to be Foster’s but was renamed and turned into a fun little Irish Bar in the middle of the West End of Richmond. I actually went on the night before opening night and got to know quite a bit of the crew who told me the name of the place comes from a giant of Irish folklore. Who knew? :) I had the Fish & Chips with a Blue Moon and a #9. They have free darts in the back and during the summers live music on the patio. I was staying at the Hilton Garden Inn for work and I think it would be a great place to take some coworkers out for a beer afterwards. As traveler in an area of Richmond known for clicks, they made this out-of-towner feel welcome.
