Great food awesome service. Everyone was friendly and the place had a warm feel walked in was greeted immediately and sat right down. Had the hawks game on so that’s a huge plus. It was 20 degrees outside so the chili really hit the spot. The corn beef soup was delicious also. If your ever in the area you should swing in for sure and grab a beer and a bit to eat. You will not be disappointed.

Steak Nachos were delicious, as was their burger. Their corned beef was great. Service wasn’t bad.

I had been here before and it was clear if you aren’t a regular they weren’t going to care about you. Went this past Friday with a bunch of coworkers for another try. The waitress had a bad attitude from the beginning including snapping at a colleague who didn’t know he wasn’t supposed to order from the bar(our table was right on the bar). She«forgot» to put in my food order even though I was clear that I was ordering the same thing as my two colleagues. As more people joined us service was slower but we thought it was because they were getting busy. When one colleague wanted to leave she just assumed we all did, and assumed we all wanted separate checks, and came to the table in a huff, complaining, wanting to know what we all had. We didn’t ask for separate checks — we had two math professors with us and could have figured it out. The last straw was when our two final colleagues joined us, one white and the other African-American, and she completely ignored the African-American woman — had her back toward her — to the point we had to go to the bar and buy her a drink. The white woman, however, got her drink and food order taken. Disgusting. It was obvious to everyone at the table and we were in shock. After that she basically completely ignored us — we had to go to the bar to get our checks. And what do you know when it came time for the tip she was all smiles. Gross. Never again.

Awful service. Came in was told to seat ourselves. After 20 minutes of wait staff passing by, not one server offered a menu or acknowledged our presence. We had a group of 6. When we inquired about menus, the female bartender made a wheel motion with her hands and said«this is why it is taking so long» and rolled her eyes. At that point we got up and went accoss the street to the Wooden Barrell, which was even busier than Shannons but received much better service! Celebrating a Hitters victory at 3:30 on Saturday, November 7, 2015. No excuse Shannons. Simply awful. If I could have done 0 stars, I would have. If you want no service with tons of attitude, go to Shannons. If you prefer to be treated with respect, go anywhere else.

Stumbled across this tonight. We were in the area looking for somewhere to eat and catch the beginning of a ball game. We walked in and I liked how cute the pub was. It was very quaint, it was decorated nicely with fall and Halloween décor. We arrived at the tale end of the busy dinner time so the waitresses were all busy. We waited for a few minutes to get seated but we were acknowledged right away. We sat at one of the high top tables so that we could see the tvs. We ordered drinks, my bf ordered a beer and I ordered a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was not good at all, it lacked flavor and vodka. I swear there was no alcohol in my drink. For dinner my bf got the shrimp and chips and I got the beef medallion sandwich. My sandwich had tender, juicy, flavorful pieces of meat along with sautéed onions, tomatoes and a horseradish spread. I enjoyed my sandwich very much. I ordered fries with that and the fries were delicious too. My boyfriend was in heaven with his shrimp. He kept saying how great the batter was, and I just had to try, and boy oh boy, was that some good shrimp. The fact that the food was good and all of the servers were attentive made up for the very bad Bloody Mary. I will most definitely return, to try the corned beef and cabbage.

Shannon’s is like home to us. We love the sandwiches and salads and ambiance. It’s not a fancy place but it’s comfortable and cozy. The food is terrific.

I’ve been here in the past and liked it enough to come back, but was disappointed when my family stopped in for dinner last night. Service was slooow, even though there were only 4 groups there. The food was adequate, but WAY overpriced. Don’t think I’ll go back.

We stopped into Shannon’s when another nearby restaurant had a pretty extensive wait. We found the service and food at Shannon’s to be on par. We enjoyed the marinated flatiron steak which was very tender and flavorful. The garlic masked potatoes where very tasty and completed this comfort meal. They offered a pretty decent selection of craft beers as well. We’d go back.

Great place to hang out with friends and have a drink in a comfortable atmosphere. Has the feel of an irish pub. Great waitstaff. The food is nothing special — just regular pub food. With the homemade Chips, I recommend asking for malt vinegar which is how they are supposed to be eaten, not with the dipping sauce that they serve with it. The bangers are worth a try too. They serve steak fries with the sandwiches/burgers and I’m more of a thin fry person but they are fine. They also have trivia night on Monday nights which is fun if you are into that sort of thing. The back seating area is cozy and comfortable.

This bar is fine for a small-town bar. It certainly isn’t special — not at all. I was most disappointed that they do not have ginger ale! What bar doesn’t have ginger ale!?! This means no Jameson & Ginger! Our server was well, eccentric… Over all, fine, but not someplace I’d fight to go back to!

I love this place. Nothing special, nothing pretentious, just good food, the friendliest wait staff(big shout out Scott, Nikki, Kay) good beer selection. I just feel good going in here. Comfortable and happy. Also, love the trivia Monday nights. Free appetizer! Also very nice outdoor seating out back

Went here for lunch today with some friends– Food was nothing spectacular. I had the spinach and feta salad with chicken and no dressing. It was a fairly large portion and tasted pretty good. The chicken was cooked well, but for some reason I’m not sure if the cheese was really feta. It didn’t quite taste like it, but I’m not entirely sure. The other people at my table had reuben sandwiches and the potato and corned beef soup. They enjoyed the items, but again, nothing special. The service wasn’t that great. Our waitress only came to our table to take our orders, give us our food, and bring the check. Also, it seemed to take quite a long time to get our order out– and there was only one other group in the restaurant… Anyway, this is a decent place, but there are better options around GE and downtown wheaton

This place is awesome. Very homey atmosphere; service that is fast, reliable, and very friendly; good selection at the bar; and the food is fantastic! In particular — the reuben rolls are possibly my favorite appetizer in the Chicagoland area, the fish and chips are outstanding, and the pepper hanger steak is hands-down the best steak I’ve ever had outside of a steak house. I’ve been to Shannon’s several times just for a nice evening out with my wife, and we’ve also hosted parties there — the large back room is perfect for that. The staff has always been extremely accommodating and helpful!

I enjoyed the food here but I could not get over having to kill about 15 flies on the window next to us. That made me lose my appetite and wonder why the place had flies in the first place. Sewage? Standing water? Who knows. So if you come to Shannon’s I suggest asking for a booth away from the windows.

I love this place! Okay, so I’ve been in Irish Puns on two continents(and a non-imperial isle), and I love pub food, good drinks. great food, and a bustling atmosphere. The food(I’ve tried most of it on my visits) is excellent. The service is terrific and the waitstaff very friendly and always chipper. I highly recommend Shannon’s for casual get togethers, nights out alone(I travel a lot for business by myself), or for even a nice evening out(if you can get a small table by the front window, up on «the deck»).

The only thing I miss about working in Glen Ellyn is my lunches at Shannon’s. Every soup they make is amazing! If you happen on the Monday special of BBQ Pulled Turkey, it’s out of this world! The wait staff are all friendly and wonderful.

I wish I could leave a review about the food here. Unfortunately I didn’t make it that far. I was greeted by a terribly rude waitress who was apparently extremely put out that I would show up looking to eat, as she remarked to someone at the bar after she left my table. I was one of two people in the restaurant and I hopelessly waited for the return of my waitress with my drink order and to presumably take my food order. Alas, she did not come back. I waited and eventually had to give up hope of being waited on by anyone. From what I could tell there was not a single staff person on the floor… they were all in the back, not helping customers. After reading plenty of bad reviews on the food and service here, I decided I should be thankful to have been given the cold shoulder and get out while I could. *Note to management — you many want to check your server schedule for who was on around 3:00 on 10/21, and unless she’s family, fire the waitress that is chasing business out of your front door.

I’ve given up on the service here. It has only gotten worse over the time. It’s not so much unfriendly as it’s just not friendly. Or efficient. Or done with a smile. Or a thank you. And the prices are too high now. And there aren’t enough TVs. Guinness is legit though. Bar selection is still good. Tap selection is still decent. Wine selection is still poor. The menu is pretty big, though, and a lot of people seem to scarf down the food. I just have never been too impressed with it. It fills you up, and has decent flavor, but that’s about it.

Solidly ok. The food is good the service is intermittent. I like it some days and other times not as much. My last experience was with the Ruben sandwich and the 5 year old for a Monday lunch. The bartender served us and was friendly. The food was adequate. The child’s food was well priced and he enjoyed it. What I am trying to say is there is just not a lot to be said about Shannon’s.

This is a decent little Irish-style pub in downtown Glen Ellyn, with the usual dark wood, Irish menu items, and Irish beer. I killed 2−½ hours in this place three days before Christmas while I was waiting for my husband to finish up a Christmas bike ride. That was long enough for me to nurse an Irish coffee, two pints of Guinness, and a plate of home-style fried chips with a sweet-spicy honey curry dipping sauce. I had a little table all to myself right in front of the window where I had a good view of the Christmas decorations and window dressings on Main Street. The place started to fill up as time went by(lots of families with little kids), but my waitress never forgot to check in on me and see if I needed anything else. When my husband showed up, I wouldn’t have minded staying longer, but we had someplace else to go. All in all, a nice little neighborhood bar.
