When I’m in Glendora, I never miss an opportunity to come here; my favorite place when I was growing up. The depth and richness of local culture and vibe takes me back to a simpler time. When good food wasn’t complicated and your waitress knew your name. The only thing missing from today’s visit was dear Mrs. Smith, but the gals in her stead have carried on her legacy well. Well done, Maria’s. I’ll be back anytime I’m within 200 miles of your door. Best salsa and sour cream dressing I’ve had in my entire life — and believe me — I’ve tried to replicate/find better. It never works. And I’m a restaurant owner! You’ll be in for a treat and a full Glendora experience if you come here.

Very busy at lunch time. Service was quick and most food was ok. Nothing spectacular. After I paid for my chili rellano, rice and beans I told the server that the beans and the chili were really salty. I only ate about ¼ of my food due to this… One would think the server would have asked if there was a problem when she saw all the food left on my plate. Instead, this server returned to the table with a cup of beans and taking bites, telling me they weren’t salty. Two people at my table has tasted them and agreed with me that they were salty or I wouldn’t have even mentioned it. Thrilled that I had her opinion but no consideration that they customer wasn’t happy, I decided then that this would be my last trip to Maria’s.

My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. One of the best Mexican food places around. Can’t go wrong with their special house salad dressing.

Not at all authentic but prices are reasonable. Since the food is basic and something any«howlie» can whip up in his or her own kitchen at home. Borderline decent, but only if you are starving and enjoy waiting for a long time on geriatric Fridays and Saturdays.

Not AUTHENTIC! But it is in Glendora so don’t expect real Mexican food. I ordered the chile verde and first sign should’ve been that it wasn’t green… Bottom line the food had no flavor. I wouldn’t eat here again.

can’t complain, I love the food here even though it’s white washed mexican food but I grew up in glendora so I am also white washed. free chips and salsa. relaxing place and the food here will fill you up. great service too. I’m actually starving while writing this so I am going to eat here.

Service might be great for regulars but those that don’t come weekly, you get ignored. 4 people standing in the little serving area right across from us not one comes over to ask if we want more chips. Our waitress has a full basket of chips asked the family she obviously knows well would you like more chips, they don’t she precedes to walk paste our table with chips in hand and our empty basket on the edge of table and doesn’t offer. Wow!

I go to the Starbucks next door all the time and see that this place is usually busy. So I thought hmmm must be pretty good, but honestly, it’s pretty darn bad. Slow service, food was dry, absolutely nothing special about it and believe me I’m not that hard to please. So for me to write something should tell u my disappointment. Salsa is pretty good I’ll give them that. But plate presentation was awful. Remember u eat with your eyes first. Chips looked like it was from the market not fresh I mean cmon it’s not that hard to fry some chips. It’s too bad because we don’t have hardly any good Mexican restaurants in this part of SGV

Went there once, it was terrible. Went there again(to give them a second chance) & it was terrible again! The food & the service was bad. I went there during the week, after 12 noon. The only thing good is there location & homey décor. Sorry!

I’m late in writing this review because I was such a fan of this place before & I wanted to go back a couple times to make sure I just didn’t have a isolated poor experience. Hummmm…I can’t remember the last restaurant I visited that didn’t have free soda refills… wait, it was one in the early 80’s. I feel the service has been on a steady downward trend. I also don’t feel welcome when we are there. The new policies on the food choices make it feel like they are nickel & dimimg. For example, when you order a burrito, you get JUST a burrito on a plate. No rice, no beans, no sauce, no garnish… JUST a burrito. The cost of making it wet was a bit more than I was willing to pay on top of the less Han warm service. I’m not 100% certain, but it seems some of their items have list their flare. The salsa is super good, the chips can use some seasoning. I think the whole place may need some energy & rejuvenation. Good luck as they are in my community & a lot of people know them from years & years back, but I just don’t think I can go back before any revamp there.

Very interesting… So for service, 4 stars. Food, 5. Carne asada is good. Salsa is very good, and the chips are very good as well. Now for the reason I wanted to leave the review. It’s hard to find a good Mexican restaurant because its hard to replicate a Mexicans moms cooking. That being said, whoever they have making the Tamales, Has it DOWNTOANART. I didn’t taste the whole thing right away because a real Mexican knows, the masa makes the Tamale. If the masa is no good, your Tamale is no good. Theirs, is good. Highly recommend trying this place. Oh, and the 4 stars for the services is just because the waitress forgot to make our burritos wet with salsa and cheese… But she was a very sweet and helpful gal and kept our glasses full.

This is the way I like my Mexican food! Home made taco shells, crispy at the top and moist at the bottom because the meat is so juicy. Delicious salsa. This restaurant is keeping to a recipe they’ve had for 50 years. I know that because I used to eat there in the ‘70s when it was block further east and called Pepe’s. For anyone else with that memory, coming back again will revive all the old memories. The restaurant aroma is the same, the cover of the menu has the old drawing, and they have the old names of combination plates: «The Three T’s», and«Explosion.»

It’s Taco Tuesday at Maria’s. I had two huge hard tacos made of shredded beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and salsa for $ 2 each. We two will get out of here stuffed for around $ 10 total. In over 45 years patronizing this restaurant and Pepe’s, its predecessor, we’ve never had a bad meal.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, three times, possibly four… I think today may have been the fifth time I’ve been burned my ‘Maria’s’ and for that I can only blame myself. But today’s visit was the worst of multiple awful trips to Maria’s. Every time I’ve dined at this crapstablishment they have«run out» of numerous ingredients. No chicken, no beef, no cilantro, ect. The tacos that they do manage to slap together with whatever’s left and not out of stock in the kitchen are edible but definitely nothing to write home about. The coup de grace of your terrible experience here is without a doubt the unbelievably horrible customer service. Whether talking to any of the employees over the phone or in person it’s like pulling teeth! The entire staff seems to be a bit brain dead and they all posses the same empty/clueless stare. All my patience is very much tested when transacting with any of this dimwitted staff. Don’t go here ever! The only reason I was generous enough to give this place so much as one star was because I guess I’ve never gotten ill or anything from their food so, thanks for that.

the best thing about Maria’s is their shredded beef tacos. they are bigger than any of their competitions tacos and so full of flavor and the meat is NEVER dry. in fact, you have to eat them fairly quickly so the tortilla shell doesnt crack. also, I LOVE the quacamole sauce they use on their taquitos. sure they have home style guacamole, but I like this one. go for the tacos, they don’t skimp on the meat.

I wish I had a better review, but the only thing I enjoyed at the time was my taqitos with the lime green guacamole, but you do get an option let me put that out there, if you want fresh or the liquid one, I’m not a fan of fresh unless I make it myself since I don’t like cilantro or onion but I seen it when I walked in and it looked nice and fresh. The sad part was I kept burping up my meal. Beans were okay, but the rice was dry, I’m Mexican so I know what real homemade taste like. My friends liked their food and one goes all the time. Unfortunately I won’t be going back since I can make this all myself at home.

We have been here twice in the last month. The food is decent and we like supporting local small business. This last take-out order killed chances of return. 6:15 pm on a Saturday night, busy, but still a couple open tables. Our order had not been prepared when I arrived and I waited about 10 minutes. The order was bagged and not until I had paid did the waiter bother to tell me they were OUT of cilantro. So, our simple grilled chicken, onion, and cilantro tacos were missing 1⁄3 of their fixings. All good… I walked 3 doors down to the Vons and bought cilantro for 59 cents… what a concept, run nextdoor for an ingredient, commonly found in a Mexican restaurant! #Fail for problem solving and customer service!

I went to Marias for the first-time this week. I’ve lived in Glendora since 2007. I gave Marias two stars, because the staff was friendly. I’m sorry… the food was not good. The tostadas tortilla flat shell was store bought. They didn’t fry it in-house. There was no guacamole on it either. It lacked flavor. I honestly felt like they should’ve paid me to eat there. Not the other way around. They seem to have a steady flow of customers though. Good for them. Being Mexican American must make me biased???

Yes they had a great menu, but the food quality was horrendous. Thought I’d give this place a chance after not going to them for years, guess I now know why… The food was bland, the service was meh. If you’re looking for Mexican food, I suggest going to Casa Jimenez in Glendora or Max’s in Azusa.

They have the best salsa — my favorite of any Mexican restaurant I have been to. My favorite item is beef enchilada, not many others use ground beef. If you don’t like Maria’s, please don’t go back!
