Sushi was okay nothing really stood out. Service was terrible. The host did not greet or smile. Everything being mediocre, there are far more places that comes into mind before RA sushi. It’s good enough to only stop by when in the area and really crave sushi. If not, I will pass.

I used to absolutely love this place. However, the past 3 times I have been here have been horrible experiences. Tonight when my friend and I first walked in we asked for a booth and the tall blonde host said it would be around a 10 minute wait for it. I asked if we could sit at a regular table and then switch over to the booth when their was an open on. The host said sure no problem. We then sit at a regular table. 10 minutes went by, still no server, not even a water. Finally the host gave us water. After about 15 mins, we then saw a booth open up so I went to go tell the other host Vienne and she then began to tell me that«no the kids are taking that booth actually» in her snoody voice. Now mind you we specifically asked for this booth and these«kids» just walked in as I went up to the host desk. Don’t promise your customer something and then give a table to some kids because your hosts are friends with them. Also, don’t have the drink«Fuzzy MoMo Bellini» on the menu when EVERY single time we order it, the machines broken. Seriously this restaurant has turned into a teenage hangout where the teenagers run the place instead of a family joint.

RA sushi located at the Glenn is nice place. The inside is very well decorated. The staff is very friendly. But the sushi isn’t all that. I’ve ordered there famous viva Las Vegas rolls which is crab and cream cheese rolled in rice and seaweed, lightly tempura battered and topped with spicy tuna, crab mix and sliced lotus root; finished with sweet eel sauce. Also ordered spicy tuna and California rolls. The Vegas roll was just ok wasn’t bad. But I’ve had better sushi

Not impressed with their sushi rolls. Came here to curb some late night munchies on a Sunday evening and ordered sushi rolls to carry out with a side of edamame. The total bill was 36 dollars for 3 rolls and a side. I don’t mind paying more for good quality sushi but unfortunately the sushi rolls were blend and nothing memorable. The California and spicy tuna rolls were decent but way too over priced. The viva Las Vegas roll was my favorite it had a nice bold flavor combination of tempura bits mixed with spicy tuna and crab meat. By far the biggest disappoint was the edamame. Completely lacked flavor and some soybeans almost seemed like they were under steamed. The ambience of the place seemed nice. Although, I didn’t dine inside the interior was nicely decorated with dimmed lighting. Personally on the bases of sushi taste a much better alternative is Kona Grill in Lincolnshire.

This place is top notch for your buck especially on the happy hour times. I come to this sushi place almost every time I’m in the area. The rice is always tasty and properly prepared and the fish is always fresh and delicious. Quick and pleasant service and a wonderful price. Highly recommended this place for big party’s or nice romantic dates.

I enjoy coming to this restaurant. The Glen is such a classy place to shop and eat, but I will travel here just to have their sushi. The sushi is Americanized, but it is so fresh that it’s hard not to love. I try to make this place a monthly visit, whether its a date or with my friends and family. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The outdoor patio is always a plus with the warm summer months approaching. My favorite rolls are the Viva Las Vegas Roll and the Chilli Shrimp Roll, with a side of Edamame. The Punch bowls require two people to drink, but it is well worth it! If you’re looking for a yummy low key place to get sushi, stop in here! You won’t regret it!

I had the teriyaki chicken bento box and shrimp tempura roll here recently and the food was mediocre. I didn’t like the slaw that came in the bent box and I found the sushi to be very bland. The hostess was very friendly though.

I love this place so much! Their happy hour is awesome their kalamari is awesome and their sushi is awesome. I honestly have NO complaints everything was great and I had a great time with my friends, and I’m going to be going back today! Update: I don’t know what’s happening to this place but I went back recently and my friends and I literally sat there for 15−20mins just waiting for someone to come to our table to take our order. We ended up walking out and going to red robins.

The last time I came here was about 5 years ago. I didn’t like the food at that time but it could be because I was pregnant then, so everything tasted different. Tonight I wanted to try RA again and so came with my family. We ordered several different dishes to try, ie chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, chicken yakisoba, chicken Katsu and spicy shrimp rolls. I ordered the spicy shrimp rolls and when it showed up, before I could dig into it, my kids all wanted to try some and well… there wasn’t much left after that! I didn’t think they’d like it so much, but I’m glad that their palates are expanding. The beef teriyaki was a bit tough for the little kids, «the chicken teriyaki was dry» said my husband, and the chicken yakisoba was OK I thought. The winning dish was the chicken Katsu however: fried panko-crusted chicken. Anything deep fried and the kids will be all over it! The service was so-so. The food seemed to take longer than average and the waitress didn’t check on us as much as we needed her to. In fact we had to go look for her. The overall check was $ 102 before tip for 2 adults and 3 children, which is a little bit high for average service, average food and water and strawberry– lemonade for drinks.

If sushi were the only factor that I based my review on then RA would undoubtedly be receiving a five star review instead of the sad three star review. Unfortunately RA has rested on it’s laurels instead of trying to blow my skirt up with excellence in all of their other categories. Let me tell you, RA, that is not the way to win a girl’s heart — you have to go all in or go home. Let me tell you what you did right: 1. The sushi was done to perfection and I would definitely come here again to try several of the other rolls that I wasn’t able to try upon my first date with RA. Upon the advice of my fiancé I tried the Crazy Monkey roll which was all sorts of delicious with its perfection combination of smoked salmon, avocado, mango and the other goodies. I also liked the huge variety of sushi rolls they had to offer here — sure, some of the rolls looked like they had the same ingredients, but most of the rolls were quite intriguing — I’m surprised I was able to settle on just one. 2. The interior was brilliantly decorated. I loved the seemingly floating red lights that made the whole restaurant gleam with a seductive and cool red tint. Whenever I’d passed RA on the street I always thought it would be a great place to relax with friends or a date. It turns out that my suspicions were correct — there were many friends and dates annoying some sushi and cocktails. 3. The margaritas had some amazing flavor — I have had a cucumber martini but I have not had a cucumber margarita until RA… after drinking that all I have to say is that cucumber margaritas need to be made a staple drink in every bar or lounge, but only as long as they make it as well as they do here at RA. I only wish that I’d had more of that delicious cucumber margarita to slurp on… which leads to me to what RA did not do so right… 1. The small size of the margarita did not warrant the high cost of it. Obviously I know that hard liquor will cost more at any bar, but if I’m willing to pay more for the hard liquor in my margarita I expect it to be bigger that what is fit for a dwarf. The drinks, though good, seemed to be a bit of a rip-off, at least compared with those I’ve gotten at similar places in the area. 2. The udon entrée that I’d ordered was deceivingly listed under the soup section so I thought I was ordering a brothy soup with udon noodles, but it turns out that it was a soup at all. The udon entrée was also lied as being spicy, but it was anything but spicy — in fact, it was a bit bland. Although the entrée was good for what it was, it wasn’t entirely what I wanted. I just think that some of their menu items(other than the sushi) are a tad bit inaccurate and can lead you to not being entirely satisfied with what you order. 3. The service was sort of lacking and a bit dismissive. Although my fiancé and I were sitting at the bar where the bartender is understandably busy it took quite a long time to get the attention of the bartender and when we did we almost got a little sass from the bartender. I wasn’t bothered too much by this, but it is definitely worth mentioning. Essentially, the point I’m making is that RA is an alright place to trek to after work but there are far better sushi lounges out there that I’d prefer to go to anytime.

Fresh sushi at average prices for the Chicagoland area. My favorite roll we had was the Gojira roll followed by the Dragon roll. One thing that upset me a little was that when we got there, we were asked if we had a res. We did not, but every time was available on Open Table so we had to sit at the sushi bar versus being sat at a table. Not sure if this had anything to do with having a baby with us. Place was busy though so I won’t hold this against them.

If you’re looking for a fun, party like environment then this is a good place to go. But that’s pretty much the only good thing about this place. But if you’re more interested than the quality of the sushi do NOT go here. Literally everything is fried, and nothing tastes fresh. I personally love sushi because I love raw fish, but you’re only going to find shrimp tempura and crab mix in your rolls… My final straw with this place was when I placed a takeout order. First of all, the young hostess answered the phone dying of laughter and I had to sit there for a few seconds waiting for her to compose herself. then I ordered a Bar Chirashi for myself and Sashimi Salad for my sister(these are literally the only items with raw fish). The Bar Chirashi comes with soup, and I asked for salad dressing on the side for the salad. Sure enough I get home and there is no soup, no dressing for salad, and found a bone in the raw salmon. I called back and the hostess was all«oh yeah forgot about that stuff sorry!» My sister refused to eat the salad without dressing and I wanted my soup, so I decided to drive all the way back. When I got there I was given my soup but the hostess then decided to tell me the salad doesn’t even come with dressing. At that point I thought I was on Punk’d. We have gotten that salad multiple times, always with the same dressing. I literally had to put my sister on the phone to tell the girl that she wanted dressing. I think she just went in the back and put some soy sauce in a cup. So yeah terrible quality food, and on top of that, horrible customer service. Won’t be coming back.

Haven’t been here in a long time. They changed up the menu a bit, but it’s just as bad as I remembered if not worse. The fish was just nasty tonight. I hope i don’t get sick(n I have an iron stomach!!) Normally do sashimi but I was nervous so I thought I’d stick with the rolls tonight. Spicy yellowtail n rainbow. Both had luke-warm fish that had the texture of gooey, mushy nastiness. The crab inside the rainbow was fishier than the raw fish on top of the roll. Also ordered a «spicy scallop handroll». Nothing like what I’ve usually seen… Nori, spicy scallop mixed with the sauce, Julian cucumber, little crab, alfalfa sprouts(if ur lucky) etc. However, here u get a tofu sheet with 2 scallops, 1 stick of cucumber, wilted lettuce leaf n sauce that i discovered on my last bite down at the bottom of the handroll. N the sauce was not worth the wait til the last bite. Seaweed salad was good but it tasted just like the one in a big ass tub I get at Costco. Classic saketini was pretty good! Not too bad for $ 6 during Monday night happy hour. Good n stiff, not too sweet with a hint of sour! Strawberry coconut saketini was ok. Too sweet for me so I let my friend have it. She liked it! They do however have great service but let’s face it… who goes back for service??? The foods gotta be good right? Can’t do this place again unless it’s just for cocktails.

Sushi centric with great design for the dining room. I usually come to RA for its happy hour specials on the sushi which has good variety and value. This time around, I went for a late lunch Tues 1:30pm. We made reservations, though none really needed at that time as there was just another table with 4 – 5 folks occupying a booth. The hostess was good and efficient asking if we needed either a high chair or booster seat immediately as we stepped in. We were seated promptly at a table. Shortly after settling down, water and menus arrived with our server who was very professional. After a couple minutes reviewing the menu he returned and Gave suggestions as far as the lunch specials… we decided on the bento box lunch which gave variety compared to the rice bowls. The server asked if we wanted ginger/wasabi though we did not have sushi which is something that I always welcome. It took longer than expected for lunch to come out. I had the teriyaki beef bento which was char broiled steak with a teriyaki sauce(savory and slightly sweet) served on top of pepper, onions, carrots and mushrooms. The sides included a fried gyoza potsticker and a veggie spring roll, along with a romaine green salad with some crunchy chow mein noodles for garnish and a fresh Asian dressing. A good helping of white Japanese rice was also served. The chicken katsu was delicate and crunchy with a crisp panko bread coating, a bit on the thinner side. It was served on a slaw of finely shredded cabbage, which was particularly yummy when you add in a bit of wasabi, soy sauce. Lunch was good, and very filling. Hot miso soup started the meal, which was a good opener. Perhaps I was hoping for a better atmosphere, the dining room is gorgeous. Ornate with red lantern bulbs hanging from the ceiling along with bamboo accents along the bar. But it was off-hours for lunch, so I cannot expect too much. Patio deck seating facing a semi quiet street is available, and there was one table which was out there at the time we dined. Ra is a good date night and place for drinks after work. Their cocktails are well mixed and hit the wow factor. For their menu, I think they could do a little better. Ie the beef teriyaki was actually steak, which tastes good char broiled, but it was cooked too long and was dry. Chicken Katsu is delicious, just hope the portion for dinner is a bit thicker(as opposed to our lunch portion bento) . RA has recently expanded their happy hours from 3pm to close on select nights so that’s good news for anyone looking for drinks and dinner options! Parking should fairly be simple as the free parking garage about a block away is easily accessible. I think RA is more about a focus on atmosphere than the food. While the food is tasty, dried out beef teriyaki when the dining room is empty, its just not my thing. I think they shoukd shift to using shaved or sliced beef, which goes better(think korean bulgogi). Figure RA should make their menu more fusion, which will draw in more people other than their happy hour specials. Combine some additional menu creatively with the lovely dining room, and you’ve got a bit hit consistently for both the lunch crowd and the dinner crowd. The sushi hand rolls are around $ 5 and nigiri is about $ 4 – 6 per two pieces. So take out sushi for the Glen Tuesday summer nights seems like a great idea!

Went with a friend and we ordered about five different plates between the two of us. First off, our service was great. Our waiter, Sean, was super sweet and lots of fun! The restaurant itself is nice looking and the bathrooms are pretty clean. The food, however, was just OK. My tuna tataki didn’t really taste like anything. It was just flavorless. And the ginger-wasabi sauce that went with it, didn’t quite taste like ginger, or wasabi for that matter. The rolls we tried were also just okay, not bad, but overall the price of our meal didn’t match the quality of the food. Overall, it wasn’t a bad time, but I just wouldn’t go back.

– Warning: If you’re someone who gets queasy easily, I advise you don’t read this. – So, I’ve been here on multiple occassions, and all were amazing. except this one. It’s my first time coming in over a year, and it fucking sucked. Our service was terrible, and our dishes were hardly washed. When my cousin went to pour herself some soy sauce, a dead fly came out of the tiny kettle. A /fly./ I was the only one who ordered something with raw fish, and I was given the wrong order first thing. It took a good fifteen minutes for them to give me my actual order after that. When our waiter went to refill our water– we all only had water– he accidentally filled mine with soda. He then realized, a minute after I told him. The food tasted okay and all, but the night after was pretty terrible. When I went to bed after, I woke up around five am with horrible diarrhea. Take note I ate only there that whole day. After going to the bathroom six times, and every time being worse than the next. I found baby tapeworms in my stool. TAPEWORMS. So, of course, this being my first time having to be an adult about things, I cried. I spent my last days of my summer break crying and shitting myself. Thanks, RA! If you want sushi ten times better than this, I’d suggest some from a discount shady gas station. At least you won’t be spending the night googling about various parasites!

I’ve been to RA numerous of times and it is definitely one of my favorite sushi places. The décor of the restaurant is really nice; they have red sphere lamps all over the ceiling. The staff is always friendly. The BEST time to go is for happy hour! Monday — Friday 3pm-7pm, and Sunday after 8pm. You basically get the best rolls for half of the price and they have house wines for $ 5. Every roll that I have tried at RA over the years has been pretty good. However, the Viva Las Vegas roll is definitely a must every time!(TIP) We always ask for the rolls to be cut thinner so it’s easier to eat them, and you don’t get full off of the rice. Another one of my favorites is the Crunchy Calamari roll, and I also love the Calamari Tempura from the appetizer section.
