Slow and incompetent service(although friendly), food was sloppy and greasy and it’s expensive. Not going back.

been goin here for ages. service is great at the drive thru. tried their spicy chicken sandwich last night and it’s pretty good for fast food. had it with the blue cheese and asked for extra blue cheese and sauces at no additional charge! it’s no chick fila, but definitely gives Wendy’s Spicy chicken sandwich a run for the money. had it with the black raspberry chocolate chip shake which is now my favorite or the Nutella shake.

Food was great here… but we were the only ones here and our food took a long time. Nice people, but the service was slow… it was around 11pm too, so we don’t know what took so long. Good experience though!

Just OK– however, the price is unbeatable. Service was pleasant and the place was clean. Not much to say about this place besides if you are looking for a quick and decent burger for a great place, check this place out.

Seriously the slowest steak and shake ever. The food has always been decent, but holy moly are they slow. dont recommend going here if you need to be anywhere after… Also please put people in the drive thru who speak English.

Normally Steak and Shake is an alright chain. My BF loves it. Today we went to this location at 2:15 and waited 45 minutes before any food or shake was handed out. The waitress forgot our order, people were waiting for food, and they were so short staffed. We had to go up there several time because we were running late for work. The food was slapped together and not good, when we got it. Overpriced and Terrible. The restaurant was understaffed and dirty. Try a different location for better service and better food.

I am sad to say our experience was not good. The shakes were watery and not much flavor — had the classic chocolate fudge — food was good. Service was very slow.

This Steak ‘n Shake is on par with others. The biggest drawback to this one though are the LONG drive thru times. I’m actually glad that it takes more time to make a Steakburger than a typical fast food establishment but what I am not ok with is the abnormal amount of really large spiders on the outside wall of this restaurant(at least this summer). They are on the wall just after you order but before the pay window. Creepy! Still, best burger in the area that you don’t need to leave your car for.

You can’t go wrong with a burger and fries from this place. Great for a meal or afternoon snack.

Feeling sorry for the ONEWAITRESS working right now. Manager doesn’t seem to be helping much. Food was fine; service is understandably slow. Have never been in a restaurant so understaffed. We have not been here in over a year because of prior service issues. Things haven’t changed much, I guess.

Walked in the door and waited for long time, the manager and the waiter saw us and noticed us we were standing there! They had no greeting and said a word! Seems to be ignored us! BAD customer service!

Stopped in to grab a quick bite to go and thought I’d be in and out. Stood waiting by the host stand hoping someone would acknowledge me. Nope… staff just stood there looking at me with blank stares while other staff were horsing around and carrying on. Stood there another few minutes while this continued and then I turned and walked out. Yah, first impressions are everything people. My first impression: lazy, unprofessional, and not worth my time or money. I’ll go somewhere where I can actually get service.

I read where the Steak ‘N Shake on Oakton got poor reviews so we decided to try this location instead(since we live in the middle of both restaurants). From the minute we sat down, we were treated like royalty which is unusual to say for a fast food chain. Our server, EDGAR, was more than amazing, and ran the whole show! If he’s not already the manager, he should be! He greeted everyone with a smile, bent over backwards to honor our coupons, and refilled our glasses in a timely manner. The burgers and fries were very tasty, but, the chili could not been a bit hotter, but okay. Will definitely return. Kudos again to Edgar!

Oh yeah! Midwestern chains for the win ;) I remember coming here with my high school debate team. But was this view now through rose-colored glasses, as it can often be? Not really — it’s still a reliable fast food chain(with barely a dent in your wallet). The burgers are still tasty as ever, and the scope of the shakes’ flavors has only increased. And yes, they’re good enough to be part of the name. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be dreaming about oreo and mint shakes…

When I was a kid, my parents would take me on vacation trips to Florida over spring break and one of our traditions was a stop at the Steak ‘n Shake in Greenwood, IN(south of Indianapolis). That was before they came to Illinois. I remember the sign said«In Sight — It must be right!» Steak ‘n Shake is still one of my favorite hamburger joints. The sandwiches are tasty and the prices are reasonable. I think the overall quality is noticeably better than what you get at those ubiquitous fast food restaurants. My neighbors liked this location and we came here regularly until they moved away. They especially liked the shakes, which come in quite an array of flavors in addition to the usual chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. The store gets busy, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, so come early if you can. It’s a popular spot for groups.

It’s alright. The food isn’t unique, but I do give them props for their variety. My dad and my brother like it there. They sometimes sneak out to get it even though my mom has cooked dinner. Every now and then I end up there, because my brother will want it for his birthday or whatever event. We go and I try to get something light. I usually get their salad, which they have a good apple salad(I forgot the name of the salad) or a small bowl of chili. What I really go there for are the shakes. Their shakes look and taste good. I love them. They come in a huge cup, so I usually ask for the junior size.

This was my first time at a sit-down steak n shake! In NY there’s no table service, you just fight for a few seats if you want to sit, haha. Soo it’s actually ½ off shakes from 2−4pm for their HH, so we paid less than $ 2 for a full shake! I had the birthday shake, yumm. I also got the single guacamole burger with fries for $ 4-NY really can’t beat these prices! Everything was good and hit the spot!

Full Disclosure — I eat healthy. So if you want bad for you food cheap, then look no further. A full size milkshake alone will put a thousand points on the calorie board, easy. In my opinion, the food appears to be cooked to order but that seems to take too long for the type of food it is. That and you get wait service too. I admittedly am not a fan but I throw the family a bone once in a blue moon. If this is your thing, then it is not a bad place, just not healthy.
