The numerous times I have been to this restaurant and there is never a time I am disappointed, the service is exceptional the waitresses all seem to help each other out, prices are very reasonable its clean, and the food is amazing I would recommend asking for the extra hot chili, and the green chili relleno burro enchilada style, the only downfall is the small area you have to go to pay it gets jumbled with customers coming in and customers leaving or trying to pay. But other than that its an amazing place to eat

We must have passed by this place hundreds of times over the years. We finally stopped in for lunch and I was totally impressed. The restaurant looked very clean outside and inside. I liked the cozy ambiance and variety of tables and booths. Service was very friendly and expedient. Best of all, the food was excellent. Starting with the chips and salsa and working through my chicken burro and beans, everything was so flavorful and tasty. Now, I could not eat like this every day, but this was a nice culinary diversion. If you’re in the Phoenix metro area, go ahead and take a short trip to explore the historic mining City of Globe and put this restaurant on your itinerary.

Restaurant is very clean, food is authentic! Everyone is very helpful and kind. As a visitor in Globe I felt really welcomed. Must try Menudo soap, and encaladas.

Its Globe Arizona, unless you plan to drive 2 hours in any direction to find better Mexican food I suggest you enjoy it. Context matters.

Super S L O W service, excellent Mexican food. If you’re willing to wait for it, the food is fantastic. We all had a green/mix burro enchilada style and LOVED it!(go easy on the cheese…)

Stopped in here on a day visit to globe. Was hoping for some great chips and salsa(after disappointing visit with competitor up the street). Only found so-so chips and salsa(which was very similar to competitor ½mile away). Restaurant was clean and had real chairs at the tables(which was nice compared to same competitor up the street) but no margarita’s –beer and wine only. Friendly staff but i put a lot of stock in the chips and salsa so this restaurant gets an average rating.

Good service, but the food completely missed the mark. You can usually tell the meal how good Mexican meal is is going to be based on the chips and salsa. I tried the tacos, chicken fajitas, and wings. I found the tacos and fajitas to be extremely bland and greasy. The taco dish was covered with lots of cheese. The wings weren’t bad and probably were the best part of the meal. The waitress was extremely nice and the food came out quickly. They also serve bottled beer and wine coolers. I was on a motorcycle ride to Salt River Canyon and stopped here based on the strong recommendation from a local I met at a gas station. The place was packed, but there has to be better options for Mexican food in Globe. For a town that prides itself on its Mexican food, I was disappointed.

Was just passing through town and saw Irene’s. Stopped in and got a green chile burro and was not disappointed. It was fantastic. Friendly service as well, would definitely go again.

6 of us stopped here on the way back to PHX to have lunch. There aren’t many options in the wonderful city known as Globe. The place was packed which looked like a great sign. There were several people standing at the cash register which was not a good sign. The chips and salsa were weak. Sweet salsa and old chips is never a good way to start off a meal. We ordered drinks and ate chips and salsa for an eternity. Finally we put in our order. Then we ate chips for a second eternity and some enchilada and fries came out. I didnt try them but my companions said they were whack. The fries looked huge and the sauce looked light. Another eternity and a half goes by and our food comes out. Hope you like queso! Most of our meals were covered and filled with cheese. Pounds of it. My meal was missing my side order and was really bad. Had the #10 combo that came with a chile relleno, beef taco, and a enchilada. None of it was good. It also had rice and beans smothered in cheese. If you are seeing a pattern here it should be cheese and bad. A person at the table commented out they cant all be winners. That sums it up. Lets stand in line so we can pay now because the waiters dont know how to take your payment to a cash register. Never again Irenes. Sorry for you Globians.

I may be giving this such a high rating because my family and I spent the last two nights in the wilderness, however, the food was great! We were all starving for more than freeze dried food and this place really hit the spot. The service was on point and the chicken chimichanga I had was delicious. I marked it down a star because there was a small chicken bone in it but I honestly didn’t care too much. I’d go here again if I were in Globe.

Irene’s is the best!!! They have the best bean burros!!! Don’t call them burritos or you will be ridiculed by the locals. My normal order— 10.0 — 3– bean and cheese burros with a side of rice. Their tortillas just melt in your mouth. Full of crispness and soft texture. Their beans are out of this world. If you want enchiladas or chips and salsa. This place ain’t for you. Burros and rice is what they do best and I mean best burros in us!!!

Amazing and very real authentic Mexican food. This mom & pop restaurant is a gem in Globe. Great menu, fair priced, great service. A place you have to try when visiting Globe.

Nice place on the East side of Globe I have always wanted to try. I found the chips to have too much lard in the cooking oil and the salsa was«just OK». Other than that, the food was very good. Tasted very fresh and homemade, but this doesn’t hit my list for the best Mexican food in Globe or Miami.

Stopped here because it was packed on Thursday night. It’s a hole in the wall and the prices are to match. The two of us ate dinner for $ 9 plus tip and couldn’t finish it. Domestic beer is 2.75. Imports 3.75. But we just had soft drinks. Chips are great. Fresh and crisp. Salsa is fine too — plenty spicy. This is authentic Eastern Arizona Mexican style — a blend of New Mexico and Sonoran styles. The green chile burro was excellent. It’s very spicy pork and beef with great chile flavor. My son had his usual bean burro. The beans were first rate and the tortillas were fresh. Service was perfect. But you don’t go to a place like this for the service. Great food and cheap.

I’ll give a star for the food, and even that wasn’t great. The taco was so hard I couldn’t eat it. The salsa was good and had a bite to it which was good. Now then the service was another story. We got chips/salsa fast but took maybe 20 minutes for anyone to stop and take our order, food came fast, then nothing again. We needed to go, so we got up and went to the register, everyone just ignored us again. Finally someone asked if we had been helped. The waitress was standing there, handed it to her and walked to the kitchen. Not a «thanks, have a great night» nothing. Well nothing is what you got too. If you guys don’t like your job, find a new one and don’t expect a tip for service like that. I would get take out if I lived there.

The food here is great! You wouldn’t think it from a Mexican restaurant but the hot wings are very good. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because like most restaurants in town the service is hit or miss. It doesn’t seem to matter how busy they are either. I have been here when they are packed and got great service. On the other hand I have been here with only five or six other customers eating and I am lucky to get a refill on my drink. All in all it is a very good restaurant. If you like hot salsa ask for the extra hot! It never disappoints.

OK… the service was great, the food okay. We came here because our favorite restaurant was closed(Sunday). We were looking for green chili… their green chili was ok. We also tried the chili relleno on the wairtresses recommendation, it was not good. Too mushy in the middle, not good at all. They do serve beer, but only wine coolers. Nothing special. If you come through Globe… make sure you Unilocal! There are so many other great/decent restarants in this quaint little town.

Mixed review. The food was really good but… We were glad to find this on Unilocal and not have to resort to a chain restaurant in Globe, AZ. We like supporting local, small businesses instead of chains and Unilocal has helped with that. It was clear all the locals eat here, it was filled with people. After waiting an hour(we did get salsa and chips), my husband wanted to leave and go somewhere else. I think the waitress in the next section heard him and checked on us. She was surprised our order hadn’t been taken. She was serving food to people across the aisle from us that had come in after us. She took our order and our food came quickly. Shouldn’t have to wait an hour in a small café like this for food. Price however was great and the food was good. We both ate dinner for $ 9.98.

I walked in and sat myself– it was a pretty busy lunch crowd, most were already eating. Somebody was over fairly quickly to take my order. I had a regular burro, enchilada style with a side of rice. While I waited, I noticed how very, very clean the restaurant is. There was a lady wiping down tables and chairs and I could smell cleaning mixture from my table. It may have been too strong, but that doesnt bother me at all. I LOVE a restaurant that is clean and sanitary. I have been to too many dirty places that this was a refreshing change. I waited 25 minutes for my food. I was starting to get ansy because I only had a 45 minute lunch break. When my food finally did come out, it was piping hot, straight out of the oven or whatever– WAHOO! It’s always good to know that my food didn’t sit in the window for 10 minutes. I tried the rice first and it had to be the fluffiest rice I have ever eaten– I now have a new standard of Excellence for spanish rice because of Irene’s! Once my burro cooled a little, I enjoyed it. The red sauce was good, the beans were a tiny bit too runny but good flavor and the beef chunks inside were great, but not very much– more meat and it would have been perfect. The downside? I only saw my waitress 2 times: to take my order and bring me my food, she never reappeared to check my drink, which quickly needed a refill after my hot food came out. This is a good clean restaurant with a nice seasonal décor, you can tell someone really takes pride in how this place looks and presents itself. The food is like the name implies, Real Mexican Food, not cold, greasy imitation. I would absolutely come back and I would bring family and friends.
