We visited Anna’s for the first time today after a search on Unilocal. We had to wait about 30 minutes, but was definitely worth it. Everything we had was delicious! The staff was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely recommend to others!

A little pricey for breakfast food, but still a cool environment to experience. I’ve been to 2 of Anna’s house locations and similar vibes from both. I took my family from out of town here and of course we had a long wait but once we got in they really liked it. The food is always hot and the service is great. I love the fresh juice. I had the chicken and waffles. We ordered biscuits and gravy for the table which were a winner with my family. All in all Anna’s house is good just be aware that you might pay a little more and wait for a table because they are often busy.

Decided to give Anna’s House another try, after not eating here for over a year. The first time I visited their Beltline location, we had very mediocre service and the salmon in my salmon dish was BAD, as in OLD fish. Tasted horrible. When I complained, they took it off my bill and brought me something else but it really soured my impression. If you can’t have fresh fish in your dishes, than don’t offer it on the menu. So, just yesterday, I tried them once again. Had a 15 minute wait even at 1:15 in the afternoon. They offered me a seat at one of the stools by the kitchen(counter seating) Tried that and didn’t like the stools so I went back and told the hostess I would wait. Then, another employee asked me if I wanted counter seating… NO, I just told the hostess that I’d rather wait for a table. Even though I had gotten my name in first, a couple who came in after me, were seated before me in a small booth that could easily have accommodated me. This didn’t sit well with me. Next, since I knew just what I wanted to order and didn’t want to spend all day eating lunch(especially since they seated me at a table near the door so I froze anytime anyone came in or left), I ordered immediately. Food took a half an hour to get and then the Greek wrap that I ordered tasted very dry and flavorless. My server never came back to check on me. So(while my wrap was getting cold) I flagged down someone else, who was kind enough to get me the dressing that should have been on the wrap in the first place, as described on the menu. Took me over an hour to eat here… don’t go if you are on a lunch hour and need to get back to work or your day. Then the final insult was the server coming back to pick up my bill and asking me if I needed change. Gee, my bill was $ 12.25 and I gave her a $ 20 bill. You think I need change? Hate it when servers ask this question. I heard her asking all her customers that question and they all replied with a «yes» so why wouldn’t you just say, «I’ll be back with your change» and then let the customer say, «It’s all set» if it is. I honestly don’t get the hype and hoopla around this restaurant. I guess it’s because it’s decorated cute on the inside and the fact that there are very few good locally owned restaurants in Grand Rapids. I’ve traveled all over and have found some truly outstanding breakfast joints in other states. It’s just too bad that in GR, Anna’s House and a couple other joints that are also«just okay» are all that we have. And I do agree with other reviewers that their prices are way high. $ 12.25(before tip) for just a sandwich, some bland chips and pop is a bit much in my opinion. Won’t be giving this place another try again!

On my last visit, I ordered the smoked salmon hash which was just okay. It comes with a «potato medley» which includes different kinds of potatoes and some other root vegetables, which were mushy and overcooked. I would have preferred crispy hashbrowns or even home fries. The salmon is hot-smoked, and fully cooked. I would not have ordered this dish if I had known that. I was looking for cold-smoked salmon or lox. Since the salmon was fully cooked, it was pretty dry and falling apart. The crème fraîche that came on the dish was great, though! I’m definitely not going to order this dish again. The service at Anna’s House has always been wonderful! It’s nice to eat at a restaurant where the people working there are so happy and friendly. It almost makes up for a dish that’s not quite up to par.

Have eaten here a few times before and have not been disappointed. Kids enjoyed red velvet pancakes with buttercream frosting, it was delicious! I tried the twilight french toast today & it was so wonderful. Waitstaff has always been very friendly & the recent remodel makes the place much more open & bright.

Tried this place kinda spur of the moment, having read some good reviews. At first, it seemed like it would be a good experience. Nice atmosphere, clean, good coffee. Then we got the food. We both ordered skillets-mine was called«hippie hash». I should have known better than to order a vegetable dish that doesn’t commit to the actual ingredients in the description. The Hippie Hash is described as Roasted Root Vegetables with brown rice, tasty garnishes, and 2 eggs of your choice. So I guess I was expecting some tasty roasted carrots, parsnips, maybe some crispy roast potatoes or hash browns. Hopefully, some roasted peppers and mushrooms-yum. That is not what I was served. My Hippie Hash was a plate of large pieces of tasteless califlower, probably steamed(not roasted), a few red potatoes that were boiled not long enough(again, not roasted), lots of beets(don’t know how they were cooked, but really, BEETS(maybe list that on the ingredients), and some red cabbage that was probably boiled too, with the potatoes as the potatoes were pinkish. The tasty garlic and ginger garnishes were non existent, but there was a big pile of sprouts on top of the eggs, and for some reason a large(ice cream scoop size) of sour cream. The whole thing was unseasoned and made me feel like they thought I was a garbage disposal. yuck.

Beltline location on a Saturday morning very crowded and loud… hard to enjoy your breakfast with kids kicking the back of your booth and people coughing and putting on their coats and taking them off 2 feet away. Conversation is pretty tough. You almost need to yell. Food is nothing special. No whole grain offerings or organic choices. Just GP(general public) food from the Gordon’s truck. Many better options in this town.

This restaurant is definitely a solid 5 for me, as far as breakfast places go. I can’t really pick out anything wrong with my any experiences at Anna’s House, other than that it is a little pricier than your average breakfast. For me personally, American breakfast food is just one of those things I can always do at home very well, if not better than most places, but Anna’s definitely stands out against its breakfast competitors in this city. They recently did a 1950s-style revamp of their restaurants, and while it looks very Pinteresty, it’s all very cute and enjoyable with fun character murals and pastel colors, making it the ideal place to take grandma for breakfast or even a great place to bring your out-of-down visitor before it’s time to say goodbye. They also have a super helpful, fast and attentive service team. But more importantly, the large array of menu options is where Anna’s House really wins the game. It’s a fantastic place for vegetarian diners, as well as for those with various other dietary restrictions. I usually go for their delicious breakfast lasagna or their Brussels-Sweet potato hash: Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, dried cranberries with 2 eggs and toast(I usually have them add a little feta too). Hippie hash is another go-to vegetarian option that they do quite well here. Anna’s House is super on point as a breakfast spot, just expect to pay slightly more for better quality food, ambience, and service. You get what you pay for, right?

I used to love Anna’s house. As their restaurant base increases the food quality goes down. Still a great place to go for a basic breakfast. I’ve noticed that their portions have gone down and prices have increased. Their fresh orange juice is super tasty and my husband always orders the corn beef hash. Seems as though they have poured most of their energy into the retro décor then into the quality of their restaurants.

I’ve driven by their plainfield location for years but never stopped in until recently. The food is good, i tried their red velvet pancakes. They also had really good coffee options, like a raspberry white chocolate. They are always busy on the weekends so we had quite a long wait but it was worth it.

My wife and I have eaten breakfast here a few times over the past month.(Most recently because the place we planned to eat at was closed on Mondays.) The Anna’s House website claims that they’re «saving the world from ordinary breakfast». Unfortunately, the breakfasts we’ve had there have been ordinary, and a little disappointing. They also describe their restaurants as having a «retro diner» style, which is a very accurate description. The interior is fun and diner-like – A+ on that! But the food and service are also diner-like – kinda bleh. Outside of a few dessert breakfast options(red velvet pancakes with buttercream frosting?), the dishes are largely what you might make as home… but not as good. The servers are friendly, but seem busy and aren’t very attentive. We’ve tried a variety of dishes: biscuits and gravy, crème brûlée french toast, breakfast sandwich, western omelet, hammy scramble, french toast. Some have been better than others and were decent enough, but we wouldn’t order any of them again. The sandwich in particular was a low spot, and the eggs seem to be cooked rather quickly because they’re not at all fluffy. But Anna’s House does seem popular. Every time we’ve been in, it’s been bustling with people. Even on weekday mornings, we’ve had a brief wait for a table.

Tried this place on the advice of a friend. Not too busy at 830 on a Sunday but filled up fast. Service: every single person I interacted with was friendly and smiling and helpful. They were well staffed. Didn’t have to wait long for anything. Ambiance: loved the kitchy 50s feel Food: i had biscuits and gravy… not the best, but better than average. I’m kinda picky about my biscuits & gravy. I’ll give them a 6⁄10. Husband had the red velvet pancake. He gave it a 6 as well. Coffee was a 9. Menu looked interesting. Will try again if in town.

Amazing!!! I was so excited to try this place and it was better than expected! The menu is amazingly creative. As breakfast lovers we were in heaven! I got the twlight French toast which was soooo good but HUGE just to let you know! I had tons to take home. The boyfriend got corned beef eggs Benedict and it was amazing also. Coffee was great and the service was super fast and very friendly! Can’t wait to go back someday!

Recently had breakfast at Anna’s House TWICE during a weekend road trip from Chicago to Traverse City. Don’t be turned off by the long wait — its worth it — especially if you are in need of gluten free options which aren’t plentiful in this area! The diner itself is very clean, adorably decorated and the staff is super friendly. We almost didn’t mind the 45 minute wait since the check-in process was so easy & we were able to snag a seat in the waiting area. As for the food and coffee itself, really good at decent prices and a ton of options! Gluten free diners rejoice: ask for a gluten free menu that is packed with options from your standard omelette options to gluten free pancake options and you can even do the sandwiches since they have GF bread! I had the gluten free red velvet pancakes TWICE and they were amazing with a super tasty cream frosting. Their french press coffee is also excellent and a ton of other coffee/juice options.

This place was so cute. Very inconspicuous from the road… looks like it might be in an old Arby’s or Wendy’s building. They’ve done a great job converting the space. I had this giant immaculate french toast. It was made out of corn bread and it was amazing. Probably the wrong choice for a single person’s breakfast, but would make an amazing shared dessert. Really really good, but hard to eat more than 1⁄3 on your own. The service was good and the wait short. Against all odds, they’ll figure out a way to serve you iced coffee if you ask for it and that warms my heart.

It’s with sadness that I give Anna’s a mediocre review. Though that’s what the food is — mediocre. After boycotting for two years I decided to try it again this week. I’m very unimpressed with nearly everything about it. The béchamel on the breakfast lasagna was the most flavorless glop that I’ve ever tasted. The onions in the potatoes were truly tasteless. And to add insult, I asked *twice* if there was bread in it and was assured that there wasn’t. Lies. I found a solid layer of bread in the bottom and when I asked the server about it she halfheartedly apologized for misleading me — twice. Worse still is the décor. It looks like a Swedish hipster dollhouse decorated by an Etsy fanatic. Trust me, this look will look quite dated in a year or two. I wish that they gave as much attention to developing the flavor of their food as they do to their décor. Overall impression — overpriced bland food at a restaurant that tries too hard to be trendy while neglecting the actual quality of the food they serve.

I’m not sure what else needs to be said. It won«Best Breakfast in Michigan», and for good reason. Very unique and diverse menu. Fair prices. Very good food. I’ve eaten at both the Plainfield and Beltline locations, and they are very comparable in food and décor and servic. The Plainfield location’s décor has been updated to match Beltline. They are always clean, friendly, and with very good service. I’ve eaten there several times over the past three years, and it really is a very good breakfast place(although there are other places I prefer in GR still). I’m not sure if I’m ordering incorrectly, but I’ve never been really blown away by anything. It is all good, and consistently good, but not as great nor transcendent as I would anticipate«Best Breakfast in Michigan» to be. I’ll definitely go back, and many times. They have a very good thing going, and I don’t know of anywhere with as unique of a breakfast menu or as diverse of a range of items to please nearly everyone’s palate.
