The owner was very friendly, and I wish I could give more stars, but I can’t possibly give the sandwiches and banh bao more than 2.5 stars. I ordered the deluxe sandwich, as well as the barbecued pork sandwich, and both were seriously lacking. All of the portions were very small, and there was a very low ratio of condiments. There was barely any meat(in all 18 of the sandwiches i ordered), tiny smidges of pâté, a few anemic pieces of cilantro, and barely any pickled veggies. The pre-packaged steam buns turned out to be BBQ pork, and not the traditional ground pork with egg filling. I didn’t find that out until I got home. I don’t know how many hundreds of viet sandwich shops I’ve been to, but this was the first place that didn’t have the pork & egg filling! At traditional places, the BBQ pork buns are usually a lot smaller(1⁄3 of the size), so please be aware that the large ones are BBQ pork and not ground pork. As with the viet sandwich, the meat filling was very insignificant here as well, but the flavor was good. I also got the spring rolls, and those were very tasty, and a solid 4.

Sub was good but environment was not so good. The store which you have to pass through to get to the sub shop was smelly. Cash only which isn’t a problem just making u aware not to show up with cc.

When I’m shopping at the grocery store next door I stop and get a boba tea. They have these little jelly balls in them that are fun to eat. My wife gets the mango one and there is always lots of real mango, not some flavored powder. I always find something new when I go here. Walking in is very intimidating. There is a huge variety of products that are mostly unfamiliar to me. I usually to try and get something I’ve never had before. They have all kinds of egg roll things and buns and oohh, the little loaves of bread that are 3 for $ 1. Amazing. Also bring cash, no credit/debit cards.

A banh mi shop! Finally, a place dedicated to this sandwich, and also many other delicious homemade Vietnamese dishes and snacks. The prices are quite low for American standards. I’ve only been there twice but I always want to try everything there. It doesn’t appear that they have the same stuff every day, which is great that they switch it up daily. I have tried and loved their banh cuon(rice paper crepes) and their banh mi pâté. I also tried their pancake which I only liked when I assembled all the parts together in the lettuce. I think it could use more meat in the filling, but I love the sauce and greens that accompany it. . Check this place out! Oh, and also, bring cash! They currently do not accept credit cards.

I visit Ly’s when I want to get my Banh Mi(Vietnamese Sandwich) fix. After visiting a couple of Vietnamese sandwich places in New York, I only realized how good Ly’s sandwiches were after visiting a couple of Banh Mi places in Manhattan’s Chinatown. Not only are Ly’s Banh Mis much better they are cheaper and 2x the size. Ly’s is inside the WeiWei Palace complex. I remember them starting kinda small several years ago and they have slowly grown now with more offerings besides sandwiches. They have soups and other rice dishes. Plus lots of sweets and prepared packaged food that you can just take with you. Their sandwiches are only $ 3 and has been for sometime. A Banh Mi is like a small sub with thinly sliced pork, liver spread, slivered carrots, fresh cilantro, sliced jalapenos and special sauce. If you want good, authentic Banh Mi, check out Ly’s.
