I had breakfast at Silverberry and was not particularly impressed. As a recent review fairly notes, there isn’t a plethora of compelling options in proximity, so it might well be the best in the area, sad as that statement is. My server was friendly, so I have no complaints on that front. And the building was nice and cozy, and there were even a couple of recliners one could sit in if just there for coffee rather than food. I also spotted a small selection of books and magazines one could read while there, though I didn’t take note of what that included. Regarding facilities though, I should note that I found the soap levels to be problematically low during my visit to the restroom. My complaints are more in regards to food and beverage. I tried two food items and one drink — the pain perdu, the Lovers liege waffle, and the«specialty» lemonade. Of the three items, the pain perdu is the best, though it still isn’t anything special. The pain perdu is a bread pudding dish made of day old whisky cinnamon rolls with apples and raisins, topped with pastry crème and a drizzle of caramel sauce, floated in a whiskey sauce. I know it sounds great, and my server seemed quite enthusiastic about it, but it was very middle of the road as bread pudding goes. On the upside, I thought it was quite well priced for the portion. The same cannot be said of the Lovers waffle, which was of lower quality still. The waffle itself was fine, though far harder than any other waffle I’ve eaten, requiring an unusual amount of force to actually cut. The rather tiny waffle had an inadequately light drizzle of some watery white chocolate sauce on top, a small but proportionally reasonable number of strawberry slices set off to the side, and an obnoxiously large amount of whipped cream hanging off the other side of the plate. Perhaps a different waffle would’ve been better, because for one where white chocolate is a major ingredient, its presence was excessively subtle. To drink, I ordered the«specialty» lemonade, whose composition evidently varies and today was raspberry. When what I was served was the same color as traditional lemonade, with no red or pinkish hues, I was concerned about what I’d ordered, and as it turned out, rightfully so. As I later overheard two of the employees discussing from the open food preparation area, the lemonade was not made with fresh raspberries, but frozen ones and raspberry syrup. Were I to venture a guess, I’d say that the latter ingredient was much more heavily utilized based on the unpleasant and overly sweet taste.

This is easily the best restaurant in a 5 mile radius. Plainfield is infamous for its lack of quality food and Silverberry stands out as a rose amid a garden of weeds. Although it doesn’t look like much from the outside the inside is a small and cute café. The menu is filled with fresh items that i would describe best as comfort food. They easy favorite is the pasties, with vegetarian options available as well. They are served big, hot and with a warm side of gravy. The chicken salad is also good and is served as a salad. Other favorites included the raisin bread pudding with a whiskey sauce. This is something that would usually be a $ 12 desert and is here and even better for under $ 8. They also have a great variety of lattes and baked goods to go. This is the perfect place to go for a meeting especially if you might get hungry.

A hidden gem within Grand Rapids. I love this place. I eat here every weekend with my daughter. Thank you to the owners for bringing a European style bakery to GR. Speaking of the owners, they rock. Is this the best place in GR No. Is this place 5 stars YES. service to food it is great. Try the crepes and breakfast sandwiches.

I had brunch at Silverberry for the first time and I am absolutely in love. Everything on the menu sounded amazing. I went with the vegetarian quiche and it was delicious. We all got croissants and they were so good! This is my new favorite brunch spot in Grand Rapids. I will definitely be back very soon!

Nice local place offering European goodies and great breakfast options. The spicy chai is amazing, very flavorful. It’s a good option if you’re looking for something a little different from the norm.

A nice little café in an out-of-the-way place, which is a shame, as it has to be a destination for me, rather than the occasional stop in. The décor is appealing, so sit with your back to Plainfield avenue, to avoid looking at Little Caesars and the busy traffic. I came by on a weekday, mid-morning, in order to do some work. The service was quick and friendly, if not a little shy. The menu is expansive enough that deciding is a bit of a challenge, though I’d tried a chocolate croissant and an almond pastry before, and since I was dining in this time, I wanted to try something a little out of the box. As expected from a pastry shop, there’s very little with fiber to balance out all the gluteny, grainy goodness(they do have gluten free!), so I settled on a cup of the tomato bisque to balance out the bread pudding, topped off with an Americano. I was a little scared looking at the bisque’s chunkiness, hoping that it wouldn’t be like eating a bowl of salsa — it wasn’t. The basil and tomato were nicely balanced, though it needed to be warmer. The bread pudding was a real treat — a huge, dense piece, with raisins and apples and nuts, topped with a fantastic yogurt, and some sort of whiskey drizzle. I brought about half of it home for a dessert later, to stretch the love. The coffee was the real joy. A rich Americano, deep and flavorful, with a gorgeous bit of froth on the top. I was torn between drinking it fast before it got cold, and lingering over it. At $ 2.50, it’s comparable to chain cafes, and better. Weirdly, though, the Euro café effect is a little bit dampened by the fact that their cream is served in those little plastic single-serve sizes, on the table. Investing in a few ceramic or china creamers would maintain the sought-for atmosphere a little better than … plastic on the table. Looking around, though, I noticed that the nice wood-backed chairs were mixed with black vinyl conference-type chairs, so it may be that Silverberry is working on the atmosphere as time and finances allow. Overall, a pleasant experience, marred a bit by inconsistent décor and a slightly warm soup, but one that I would gladly ask friends to join me in.

The café is nice design with delicious food. Being from out of town, this was a wonderful supply. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious from the pastries to the breakfast. It is a destination that I will make sure to visit next time I’m in town. The Brie is the be all end all and well worth it

We’ve been to this place several times and we absolutely are happy to have it! The fresh bread and ingredients are amazing! Our favorites include the bacon quiche, ham and cheese croissant and the waffles. Not to mention French press coffee with a free refill! The place is really cozy on the inside and all orders are made fresh whole you wait. It’s a great place to share a French press and breakfast any day of the week.

After seeing so many post on EatGR’s community page I was excited to try this new café. The menu looked phenomenal with an assortment of crepes, sandwiches and the usual brunch essentials. We got a bacon quiche, and three types of crepes. There’s not much I can say about the food. They lacked personality. The crepes were dry and not hot when they arrived. One of the crepes was a nutella crêpe which is a pretty common option in the crêpe world. The lifeless crêpe took away from enjoying the nutella which was sparingly spread within the quarter folded crêpe. The presentation was lacking. They used large«American» sized plates. The crepes looked unappealing taking up barely half the plate and the rest empty space… Not very Instagramable. The service was great. Everyone from the cashier to the barista and the server greeted us with a smile and were very helpful. The food wasn’t was good as expected. I don’t know if I’ll make a return visit.

Just OK. Been looking forward to this place for a while, just waited till my daughter got home from school to enjoy with her. We both left not really disappointed, but both agreeing there was nothing that made us want to return either, just kind of a bleh, right down the middle ok feeling. I had hot chocolate that was ok, but should have been more chocolatey, mushroom bisque that wasn’t hot, but they reheated for me, and the ham & bacon croissant that was toasted on top, but the bottom slice was cold, which makes for odd texture mouth feel. It tasted nice, just not much different than I felt I could have done at home. Daughter had nutella/Peanut butter waffle that she enjoyed and her eggs were cooked perfectly. So if we go back, I will have to go the breakfast direction, but tough to imagine driving buy Anna’s house to do breakfast here instead, other than to avoid the long lines.
