Very friendly staff and management! Several different varieties of dogs and toppings. The jalapeño dog packs some heat and is delicious. I’m looking forward to trying some ice cream next time I am in town. Thanks!

The dog king is a work in progress. They hired all new employees after Sweet Melissa’s closed. The staff are very nice, but they are still learning. The hot dogs taste great, but there is a tough skin on them. There are many toppings to choose from, and different dogs too(Chicago dog, German dog, Mexican Dog, etc.)

I enjoy the ice cream from this place, unfortunately my hot dog was cold, and hard to bite through. The inside is not finished. Makes for a bummer eating experience. Will come back if they get on their feet.

Stopped here this past thursday to grab my kids dinner after baseball practice. Not impressed. Employees didn’t know the menu or how to ring things in. Repeated my order 4 times before it was taken. Hot dogs were mushy and had no «snap» to them they were awful so bad in fact my son got more then he bargained for in a bite and choked to the point of needing the Heimlich. My kids pops were just soda water and when I brought it to the girls attention she just took them tossed them and said«thanks for letting me know»(wtf?) while waiting to put in our order a guy with an alger shoe repair shirt came in the food prep are and was just eating buns and stuff which was not appealing. The ice cream was ok but apparently everything is softserve and if you order an extra topping you probably won’t get it… but at that point I was too tired of waiting to bother waiting another 5−100th minutes. Defiantly miss sweet Melissa’s being here. I will not be back and will just got the extra half mile to woodys

A work in progress — hopefully they get the kinks worked out, because it could be great. They microwave the hot dogs, before throwing them on a roller for 30 seconds. I was not impressed. I’d rather wait 5 minutes than have my dog nuked. How they have the toppings stored is not functional. The ketchup and mustard was in a tub of ice water, which dripped all over the hot dog when applied. The chili for the chili dog tasted like Hormel, out of the can. Great dogs, cool place — needs some fine tuning.

When the former ice cream shops(Sundaes in the Heights, Sweet Melissa’s) closed down in this location, I was happy to see a new venture come into the neighborhood. The initial news was it would be a gourmet hot dog place as well as an ice cream shop. Perfect! I understand they’ve done a sort of soft opening, and we had heard from a few friends who visited who said it wasn’t good. I typically need to experience things for myself, so last night we walked up for dinner. Unfortunately, we wished we had taken our friends’ recommendation to not go. My wife got a brat, and she couldn’t even bite through the casing… she literally had to cut it away so she could even eat the brat. The kids had just regular hot dogs with ketchup and mustard… they ate them, so no complaints there. I ordered the Chicago Dog and the Mexican Dog. The hot dogs themselves had an almost chewy outside, tough to bite through almost(especially the Mexican one). Typically a Chicago dog is served on a poppy seed bun… they just served it on a regular bun with poppy seeds sprinkled over it. The toppings on the Chicago dog were ok, though they neglected to put a pickle spear on it, and I’m not sure if celery salt made it onto the dog or not. The toppings for the Mexican dog seemed to be straight out of the can, didn’t taste very fresh. I understand they get their dogs and brats from Willi’s Sausage Co. in Frankenmuth. I thought this would be a pretty good supplier, but I was not impressed at all. This could be attributed to the fact that the dogs and brats were sitting on those rolling warmer things that you tend to see at gas stations. In fact, I kind of wish we had gone to Speedway and gotten $ 1 hot dogs instead of the 2 – 4 bucks we paid per hot dog last night. We didn’t try the ice cream, but it’s only soft serve anyway. I was pretty bummed when I found out they would only be serving soft serve… this neighborhood needs a real ice cream shop with some hand-dipped ice cream. Service was fine… nothing to write home about, but not negative either. Atmosphere was lacking. We ate outside because it was a nice evening, and that was fine. The back dining room area, however, is not finished… unfinished drywall, it was a mess, furniture covered by tarps, etc. I understand wanting to open quickly, but this made it feel like a place I wouldn’t really care to come back to even if the food was good. Also, the signage seems like clip art from circa 1999. I honestly feel bad for the owners because I’m not sure they’ll be successful with their current product. The concept could be good, but the product put forth is lacking. Unless there are some big changes, I give the place six months or a year at best.

Still a work in progress. Employees still learning the menu. Restaurant not finished yet. Staff very friendly. They do use beef hotdogs — a good thing. They offer a Chicago dog, Mexican dog, Chili dog, Boston dog(baked beans), among others. You can also create your own. There is a really long list of toppings to choose from. I would like to come back once they’ve had a chance to finish the place.
