The last time we dined here some time ago we were blown away — this time it was a real disappointment, the crab cakes at Sam’s Club are much better, the salad actually taste like dirt. Won’t be going back

Temper Grill is very over rated. The food is excellent but the prices are out of line for the overall experience. The seating and ambiance are regular at best and it seems that no matter how many times we go there we have to wait; reservations or not at the very small weird entrance. As well the prices for wine are ridiculous. I understand mark up, but when I buy the exact same brand at the store for $ 15 a bottle and they charge $ 50. I feel so cheated. Bottom line, you can get great food but expect to pay way over market value for what you receive.

Great for groups wanting a different dining experience. For a group of 4 adults about 6 – 7 plates is plenty. The creamed corn is a must!

After witnessing the owner of this restaurant yell and scream at his staff, not only will I not return but I will also not recommend this restaurant to anyone. He appeared to be intoxicated and/or on something. This may appear to be a classy place but it’s not worth the experience, consider taking your business and appetite elsewhere.

We were in Indiana to pick up our new RV. We got bad news — that it wasn’t going to be ready for a few days. The owner of the company told us to go out to dinner on him so we picked the Temper Grille. We. Were. Amazed. First off, we weren’t paying for the evening, but Tuesdays turned out to be ½ off bottles of wine. Some Cherry Pie Pinot Noir was just what the doctor ordered. We started off with a few items from the rotating menu — first was the Meat and Cheese Board that was fantastic. The marinated cucumbers really set it off for me. I wish I could remember the name of the soup but it was a creamy mushroom that just melted in your mouth. My wife actually said this may be the best soup she’s ever eaten. That’s saying something… Then we had the Chop Salad which was amazing — strawberry, mandarin oranges, dried cherries, blue cheese, YUMM! And to top the evening off, we ordered some smoked pork tacos recommended by the server. How many ways can I say, «So Good!» We took some chocolate truffles back to the hotel and it was absolute heaven. Enough said. We will be back!

I’ve been going to Temper Grille for years on a nearly weekly basis. The place just keeps getting better! Old favorites like the lobster mac, steak chimmies, and sea bass are always great, but the new offerings are out of this world good. Where I come from, wings are culture. Michiana has a serious lack of quality wings, but Chef Sean erased that with the new Temper Wings. THEBESTWINGSINMICHIANA! Pork belly tacos are to kill for, and are must haves for all of my friends when they join me at Temper Grille. If you want a menu secret gem … duck fat fried potatoes. My wife and I were actually upset it took us so long to order them. I recommend getting them with two eggs instead of one on top. It’s a regular patron’s secret go to dish. Also, I have to address this … Temper Grille is 21 and over only. It’s clear in all of their advertising, it’s up front and center on their website(not hidden, or in fine print), and when you make reservations, it is at the top of the reservation page. It’s literally the first thing you see. It’s also posted clearly on the front door before you walk in. I’ve seen too many people complain about this. It’s YOURFAULT you chose to ignore the disclaimers when you visited their website, made your reservations, and then walked through the front door. I’m sorry some of you didn’t get to enjoy the amazing experience Temper Grille offers because you didn’t heed the disclaimer, but you have no place blaming the restaurant for your failure to notice this rule. A rule required by law. Next time, let a sitter take care of the kids, and enjoy yourselves.

Temper Grille has a great selection of tapas on their permanent menu, as well as a shorter list of rotating tapas that they change out once in awhile. It is a small restaurant with a nice bar with a long list of wines and beers. ***On Tuesdays their wines are half off, and on Wednesdays they have a list of $ 2 beers!!*** The ambiance was pretty nice, although some of the décor in the smaller room where we sat didn’t go too well with the feel of the restaurant. The service was pretty good, especially for a busy night, though I can understand why people in other reviews were not satisfied by it. Now for the food we got the steak bites, duck bites, and pork belly tacos, and two craft beers. The waitress suggested that we order pita with our meat bites, which was essentially cut up pieces delicious flatbread, and it was an awesome choice. The remoulade sauce on the steak bites, a must get, was so good and did a great job of bringing out the flavor in the steak. I was a little skeptical on the black cherry sauce on the duck bites, but boy was I wrong. The duck was tender and juicy, and the sauce paired with it perfectly. The pork belly tacos was the best dish. The skin on the pork belly was crunchy, which was paired with some sort of fruit chutney type ingredient that made the dish so delicious. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant. Look on Groupon for a $ 30 coupon for $ 15, which definitely helped cut our bill down. I can’t wait to go back to try their mac n cheese, seafood, stuffed chicken, spicy feta, etc.

Overpriced for the quality. Waitress the rudest I’ve encountered. Extremely pretentious for a place in a strip mall, populated by yuppies.

Ruined our Saturday night. Ambiance: Classy, dimly lit with a chic European feel. Patrons seemed to be upper middle class, dressed respectably with the odd t-shirt here and there. Food: We had the asparagus, the duck fat potatoes, steak bites and the baked brie with the intent of ordering more through our meal. The portions were very generous for tapas, and overall the food was fairly good, though the steak bites were perhaps a bit over seasoned. The vegetable dishes are where this place really shines. Service: Terrible. The waitress came by once to drop off waters and menus, and then once to take or orders. That is when things went south. At this point, I feel I should point out that my spouse and I don’t drink and that it is apparent that the restaurant makes most of it’s sales in alcohol. Further more it was a busy Saturday. Perhaps, these facts account for the rude service, but do not excuse it. After ordering we weren’t served by our waitress until we were ready to go, while she visited each of her other three tables 4 or 5 times. Our orders were dropped off by other staff, and we actually had to intercept the waitress when we were finished to request our first and only refills and the check. Unfortunately, the table next to us called her in the middle of my request and she abruptly walked away while I was saying, «Excuse me, miss, would we like to have our…» She took their additional drink orders and served them before coming back to deliver our check. At this point we mention we have a Groupon. She gives my spouse a dirty look and rolls her eyes before telling us she’ll have to get her manager(sorry?). Had the service not been atrocious we would have undoubtedly ordered more, but instead we left an extremely underserved 15% tip and went elsewhere for desert.

DUCKBITES!!! These were my favorites, but everything we had was great. The mussels were buttery. The short ribs fell apart, they were so tender. The grits were so tasty, and I can’t stand grits. The scallops were perfectly seared. We will definitely be going back.

I went with my hubby for our anniversary March of 2015. We wanted to check it out because, the announcer from 95.3MNC Casey Hendrickson said so many good things about the food, friendly servers and great atmosphere. He also mention make reservations because it fills up quickly and also raving about Chef Shawn. He got one thing right! The waitress was friendly. If everything else match up like the waitress. Then this review would of got five stars. When my hubby and I got there. We imagined from the outside that it was bigger. We couldn’t figure out which way was the entrance. I said to myself, Maybe the inside would be better. Nope I was wrong. When we got in we mentioned that our reservation was for 6pm. We were thinking that it was full. But, it was empty, only two tables of people were there. The atmosphere was uninviting. It was dark the furniture and table were dark too. If it was any darker. I would of thought I was in a night club. When they took us to our table. The waitress acknowledge us right away. She wanted to know what we wanted to order. I told her what would she recommend. She suggested the lobster mac. My hubby ordered the New York strip. I ordered the lobster mac and some sliders. She also asked us what we wanted to drink. I ordered a glass of sangria. When we got our food it had a great presentation. But the flavor went down hill. Hey Chef Shawn, have you ever heard of salt and pepper!!! The only good thing on the table was the sangria. I was angry and sad at the same time because my anniversary was ruined. This place is not affordable like Casey Hendrickson said. Three little plates of food and I glass of sangria for $ 80. IT’S RIDICULOUS! If the food was amazing and served in a little bigger portion. We would not mind paying the $ 80 dollars. I would of rather gave the money to the waitress. She well deserved it. She was always checking up on us to see how we were doing and asking about the food. She noticed with our expression that we were not happy. Before we left we use the restroom and it was all black and the walls were red. I just couldn’t wait to get out of there. What I bad experience. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone even my worst enemy.

Great menu variety. American tapas with weekly specials. The steak chimmies are always great and they have great beer and wine lists as well. Definitely one of the top restaurants in the South Bend/Mishawaka area.

We bought a Groupon for this place late last summer and went to check it out. Upon arrival, we were asked if we had reservations. We did not. The hostess seemed annoyed and pointed us to the seating out front. We were given menus after about 15 minutes but our server did not offer to take a drink order. She ignored our table for some time but did manage to dote on a table of women who kept downing the wine with an almost military-precision level of regularity. If it hadn’t been for the Groupon, we would’ve left. We just wanted to use it and be done at that point. Once she finally got around to taking our order, she initially tried to take just the drink order. No, we’ve been here for over half an hour at this point, so we want to order everything. She seemed annoyed at this suggestion but did it. They were out of two of the items we ordered(this was only 5:45ish). We eventually got our order in and the items started trickling out. The food itself wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t anything that made us say, «We MUST come back!» We had high hopes for the lamb pops, but they were fairly average. The asparagus was the star of our night, and that by itself would’ve gotten a 4-star review. This brings us to the overall atmosphere… in addition to the attitude we received from the restaurant staff, there is a certain level of pretense that fills the air. The majority of other patrons were menopausal-aged women who were enjoying multiple glasses of wine and spoke with the volume that accompanies said level of libation consumption. We were outside and could barely hear the others at our table as three of the tables around us had a volume more appropriate for a sporting event. I’m all for having a good time, but there is no need to screamtalk at this type of establishment, ladies! We really wanted to like this place, but it just didn’t work for us.

Hubby and I finally tried Temper Grille on NYE2015. We ordered the steak bites, lobster bites, Ahi and macaroni & cheese. Everything we tasted was delicious; although expensive. We will definitely go back but probably when we have a Groupon. Next time we plan on going with a group of friends also, as we felt this place had a great atmosphere for small groups.

This is quite possibly one of my two favorite places to go for fine dining in South Bend! I’ve been here numerous times and every time, the food is just AMAZING! I like the new layout as it seems to open the place up a bit and the wine bottle lights above the bar are just too cool! I do have to say that the only bad thing I can add is that they now charge you $ 2 for pita bread to go along with the small plates as they always used to come in addition to. However, in a place like this, if you can’t afford the $ 2, maybe you shouldn’t be there lol. We had a multitude of things(they say that’s the point) and everything was fantastic! We had the steak bites, the lobster bites, the duck fat potatoes with the fried egg on top,(NOMNOMNOM), the asparagus, and of course, the mac and cheese. In case you didn’t get my previous mentions about good the food was-IT WASGREAT! They also have a fantastic selection of craft beers and an extensive wine list. Chef Sean continues to impress with his amazing dishes and we will continue to go back every chance we can!

Came by after work and checking out some of the other reviews to see what it was all about. Cute little modern decorated restaurant with some outdoor seating. Surprisingly enough they have a nice wine and beer selection. During my visit I sat at the very small bar. Lol. But since I was solo it worked out just fine. Be prepared to spend $$. I like the concept of tapas. However the salad I ordered as much larger than I expected(in a good way). Speaking of it was very tasty. For $ 8 bucks I got what they call a chop salad and the blood orange dressing awesome! In addition I ordered the pork belly tacos… they reminded me more of pulled pork. But none they less they was yummy. You could hear the crunch from being smoked and the combination of mango and bbq sauce was different(again in a good way). But they packed a price tag of $ 16 for 3 … Overall I say if you have a few bucks extra to spend, give this place a try :)

The food was good but not worth the price. Especially when it’s something you could make at home just as good. Our server was slow and didn’t come to our table to see us very many times witch I personally didn’t like. The place is very small and clumsy at times. I’m no chef but I have no doubt I could chop up some beef or pork, grill it real quick, throw some fancy sauce on it, put in a fancy bowl and sell it to you for 20 dollars. I’ve been here twice now and my first experience was the same. I wanted to give it another try to see if it was better and it was not.

We love coming to Temper Grille for business dinners and date night. It has been hit or miss with service. We have a great time most of the time but we have had the same server twice, unfortunately on our anniversary and Valentine’s Day, and we were ignored and never brought more wine. We love the food, especially the steak bites, brie en croute and mac and cheese. It is neat that the menu always changes, too!
