While doing laundry next door, I ran over to break a $ 20 and get some change(two $ 10s). The cashier here was friendly and completely willing to help despite no desire from me to purchase any food at that time. That, to me, is what brought me back in with my family of six to have lunch. The food was great and the owner interacted with my kids just enough to make us feel welcome. I enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely revisit this place in the future.

Hasn’t changed, just gets better with age!!! But here’s a secret… they cater all over DFW! We recently had an office lunch function and had them cater, and man o man, everyone was raving about how awesome their food is!!! Now I’ve addicted 40 more folks to Bartleys! haha Ah, and one tip I’ve learned… order an extra pound or three of your favorite meats. When you get home put em in single serve vacuum freezer packs(or small ziploc freezer bags). Then just grab one with a small container of salad greens and you have an instant(and tasty) lunch!!!

Decent BBQ, decent prices. If you willing to spend a little more there are some better options in town, but you won’t be disappointed with the food at Bartley’s either.

Delicious food and fun atmosphere! The ribs and chicken were awesome and pricing very reasonable. Shane took great care of our group and gave us a great laugh throughout the meal. Try to pecan cobbler, it’s homemade and so yummy! Thanks!

This place is special… Ownership is fantastic! Come here for things that are different, like bologna and pork loin. As well the sides like the spicy pinto beans and spicy bbq sauce are the things you must try. Always ask for samples but due to the fact I was shorted a side and the chopped brisket was more of a sloppy joe style meat lowers my rating. This place is a must visit and better than the well known«Dickies»

Great place to grab a quick lunch while in the area. After walking in I was greeted by the entire staff from the owner on down. I ordered a chicken sandwich and spicy sausage. The meat had a great taste and the chicken was super tender. You can tell this is a establishment that take pride in their food and other services. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu items.

I have never had a better sliced pork tenderloin sand which!!! The pork ribs were a tad overdone but still fall off the bone tender. They are going home in a to go box and will star in a rib meat omelet for the next few mornings. The owner is a genuinely nice man. He makes the evening worth while. Try the crust-less pecan pie. My wife’s is better but it is the best I have had in a restaurant.

Can we add a sixth star? I was in Grapevine for a convention and decided to look for Texas barbecue places. I watch a lot of barbecue shows on Food Network, so I felt it was my obligation to try some local cuisine. I was not disappointed. The only negative thing I can say about them is that they were closed on Sunday and Monday, so I only had one opportunity to eat there. I tried another barbecue restaurant while in Grapevine, but they couldn’t hold a candle to Bartley’s. Everything was spectacular. I treated myself to the«All You Can Eat» plate for $ 19.99. Sam, the gentleman that assisted me in this undertaking, prepared me a plate that would make any carnivore envious. I was treated to brisket(lean and moist pieces), smoked bologna, and pork tenderloin for my first plate. Everything tasted absolutely amazing. The brisket, however, was my favorite. It was the best I’d ever had. And the servings were substantial. For my second plate, I had more brisket and the ribs. The ribs were so moist and juicy, they were falling off of the bone. They melted in your mouth. And they were the best I’d ever had. I see a trend here. Sadly, I had to stop at two plates. I wanted more, but I wasn’t sure the stomach would allow it. But, besides the great food was the wonderful hospitality that I received from everyone at Bartley’s. When I walked in, I felt like an old friend that came to visit. Sam was great, joking around as he prepared my feast and Lynn, the owner, was a true gentleman that really cared about his customers. He went out of his way to shake my hand and thank me for coming. I was just in town visiting on business and may never be in town again, but he made sure I felt welcome and even joked that he would save a table for me if I ever returned. If you are visiting Grapevine and in the mood for barbecue, give Bartley’s a try.

Please Do Some Dusting! Let me start by saying the food was above average. I had ribs and chopped brisket and the ribs were ++. The sides were also more flavorful than most typical Texas BBQ, but PLEASE do some cleaning! The décor was old and dusty — not rustic, dirty! One of the ceiling fans had no blades! Come on, the food deserves better! One’s left to hope that they spend more time keeping the kitchen clean than they do the dining room.

Sam is a genius! I had the ribs and brisket plate. Ribs fell of the bone, and the brisket was juicy and tender, melted in your mouth. Sides were green beans and Mac and cheese. Best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. My buddies has the Cajun turkey and sausage, tried those and was blown away by the juiciness of the turkey. Topped it off with pecan pie. So. Good. Sam is a great guy, great service, took care of us really well. The only bad part is that we don’t live in Texas to be regulars here.

If I could give it zero stars I would. I wouldn’t feed this food to a stray dog. I’m from lockhart and I can’t understand why not one place in DFW can get it right. This place is just a step above places like dickeys and spring creek. Don’t waste your money. Just drive to central Texas for real BBQ

Food is as delicious as the service is friendly! I don’t know why it took so long for us to try this place. It felt like stepping into the kitchen of a family friend. I’m usually not a huge fan of BBQ mostly because the sides seem always to be the same and not very interesting. BUT! I really loved the jalapeño, cheese, tater tots! Scrumptious! I’d come back just for them, but the chopped beef was tender and moist. I also liked that they serve dinner rolls instead of bread slices. OMG and their cookies looked so amazing. I didn’t eat any… well I ate a half dozen with my eyes, but don’t think I wasn’t tempted! This is a good place to come if you don’t want to smell like a bbq smoker all day(not that that’s a terrible thing, it’s just sometimes you don’t need a reminder of where you’ve been all day). Strengths: BBQ. Sides. Customer service. Parking.

We were in Dallas Saturday, and interestingly enough, I learned about a restaurant that is known for its chili when I was researching BBQ joints. We headed out to Grapevine so that I could sample Tolbert’s Texas Red. I know, I’m always on the lookout for BBQ, but why not seek out great chili as well? It turns out that Tolbert’s has a very nice bowl of chili. So much so, that I would certainly return for another bowl. My wife’s steak also had a nice flavor, but I caught a glimpse of little Maddie’s hamburger. Let’s put it this way: I don’t plan on going to Tolbert’s for their burgers. After a nice lunch, we piled into our van so that we could get to our hotel. Just as we turned the corner, I saw Bartley’s BBQ. It’s on my list! I had to stop for something.(As you may know, I’m trying to visit all BBQ establishments on the Texas Monthly Top 50). As I walked in and perused their fare, I suddenly uttered, «That’s bologna!» They had barbecued bologna and I had to get some. The proprietor told me their specialty was brisket, so I ordered a half pound of the fatty stuff. He pulled out a fresh brisket and deftly cut to the fat. He was also careful to maximize on the crust so that I would fully enjoy this treat. To make the family happy, I grabbed a half dozen cinnamon rolls which are made at their sister bakery. It was much later before I enjoyed these take out treats, but the cinnamon rolls were delicious. The BBQ bologna was a definite treat. I can’t say that I’ve enjoyed this under appreciated meat quite this way. The brisket is what caused my wife to call me an addict. She has drug addicts in her family and she hates that mentality. Apparently, my behavior isn’t that much different than a junkie looking to score. She just doesn’t appreciate a perfectly rendered piece of fat candied with a nice black crust. Bartley’s BBQ easily earns a 4.0÷5.0 from me. Everything I tried exceeded all expectations and they are a place you mustn’t overlook if you are in the Dallas area. Do yourself a favor, get some cinnamon rolls. Next time I will try their kolaches.

Hmm, a second visit a long time later and most of my previous review still stands. Tender but dry brisket with no smoke ring to speak of. Ribs were good. but could use another hour cooking to render that fat. This time I tried both sausages and liked them both. but link is better. Keep at it guys… decent BBQ, but nothing that makes me want to put it in to standard rotation.

Above average but not amazing. Brisket was good, but the ribs were a little tough and chewy. They had a nice sweet note too them though. It was $ 11 for a 2 meat plate which included 2 sides and a roll.

We had a really pleasant experience here the other day. The chopped brisket was great, but the sliced was a little tough and quite fatty. The chicken was moist. Both the regular sausage and the hot sausage were really good. The sauce was pretty vinegary. Hubby loved the mac & cheese. The potato salad was good, the okra was okay, and the roll was almost inedible — it was so yeasty. The staff were chatty and nice. There is no changing table in the bathroom.
