I have been going to BoBo’s for over 15 years. I use to go an average of 4 times a month, or more, with Many of my friends/co-workers from Verizon before I retired a number of years ago. At that time many of the large employers, such as Verizon, around the Grapevine area were still in business but many of them have closed up or moved most of their employees to other locations. EVERY time someone asked ‘where are we going to lunch’ and someone suggested BoBo’s there was immediate universal agreement that BoBo’s was on menu for that day. During those better times before many of tech companies in the immediate areas moved their headquarters, you could go there at lunch and the place would be nearly Full of diners. Since then the ‘crowds’ are not so much — But, that is not the fault of BoBo’s, just a change in the work population. That being said I Still have friends who will jump at the chance to head to BoBo’s at the drop of a hat when I suggest it, however since I am now semi-retired as are many of my friends and past lunch mates we are not able to ‘gather’ the gang together as frequently. But I now live about 15 miles away, and one of my friends lives about 20 miles away and neither of us thinks twice about climbing in our cars and ‘meeting at one our favor Chinese places’ in the area. Frankly I can not believe Many, most, of the one and two star reviews — such as some make reference to the favor of food as ‘bland’ …how frequently to ‘people’ use the word ‘bland’ to describe their ‘experience’ — sure, one person might, but another person would use different words to describe the same ‘experience’, not copy that of another person — thus it makes me truly wonder if those reviews were just written by the same person. Another example — someone made reference to ‘dirty walls, kids have’en «written/drawn» on the walls graffiti like — That is just plain a lie, made up! Nothing like that! The place is Clean! I have been there dozens and dozens of times and Never seen it dirty in any respect. BoBo’s IS an authentic Chinese Restaurant in every respect, such as — it has a LOT of Original Chinese art/décor which In Fact came directly From China many years ago when it was first opened, about 25 years ago. The décor is not the typical fake ‘American’ Chinese décor you find in Most Chinese restaurants, likewise so is the food — Chinese. Thus, if you want a quiet peaceful lunch or dinner where you can sit and relax And actually carry on a conversation with the one(s) you are with Without having to yell to be heard, to enjoy some really good food, then I would highly recommend it. It is less crowded than it once was, but don’t let that concern you when you go in the first time, just enjoy the experience of a great food And Personalize ‘Service’. …it has had the Same owners for all these years. Btw — lunch prices are in the range of $ 7 — $ 8. Also, don’t forget — read the low rated reviews carefully …I know for a fact that many of them are just made up — there are NO kids ‘writing’ on walls, etc. The four and five stars are the ones to give some weight to, in my opinion.

Came here with a group of 7 about 30 minutes before closing time(bad timing, I know) so we were pretty much the only ones eating in the restaurant. The waiter was really attentive and interesting to talk to, and our food arrived quickly but again we were the only ones in the restaurant. Food was pretty good; I had the crab rangoons and chicken Lo mein. The portions were large enough to share and still have extras to store in a box for later.

We have lived in Grapevine for 4 years and today was our first time here. Great service and awesome food! We have been missing out. Highly recommended!

This is the worst Chinese food. I have never had anything as bad as this. The food is so bland and the quality of meat is horrible. I would much rather go to a buffet and we all know those are mediocre. Save your time, money, and tastebuds and do not eat here.

Had high hopes for this place. I was sorely disappointed. Food was bland. Delivery guy was super nice, probably because he knew he’d never see us again. Absolutely flavorless food. Soy sauce didn’t even help. How can Asian food be bland!!! They have good coupon deals and now I know why.

No. Worst Chinese food, even worst than mall food court Chinese food. Worst General Tso and mysterious Hot and Sour soup. No thanks.

Good American Chinese food. Very generous portions, friendly and prompt service. Very good jasmine tea. If you want something spicy, make sure to ask for extra spicy as regular is quite mild. The décor is very neat and elaborate and the restaurant was very clean. We will be back to try thier Peking Duck!

Looking for dirty fast Chinese food after all day drinking and damn that’s what we got. Was expecting something like mall Chinese food for a quick fix but got questionable meats with really bad sauce. General Tso chicken was not crispy and had weird cuts of meat. Sweet and sour shrimp tasted like it was cooked the day before and sat under a heat lamp for hours. Really poor attempt at fried rice. Basically white rice with froze. Peas and carrots. ALSO, it was expensive as hell! We could have had Pei Wei instead! At least you know what you’re getting. The only positive thing about this meal is that we all didn’t get sick. Truly never thought I’d say this but I would have rather had Panda Express. :(

I was a few minutes early so I ordered a pupu sampler for when my friends arrived. Two minutes later they bring out the tray of lukewarm previous frozen appetizers that had been microwaved. I sent it back, and one minute later they returned with it, proudly proclaiming that the egg roll was actually freshly cooked. They refused to take it back. We ordered a wide variety of meals, and all were terrible. Really bad food. Never again.

Absolutely wonderful Chinese food with a great atmosphere and authentic dishes and hosts. The portions are monstrous, so much so that the ‘2 person meal’ will feed 3 – 4 people easily. My wife and I along with our two children were only able to finish a bit more than half of the meal.

I really don’t like giving bad reviews but I just ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce for lunch and it was really bad. I thought it had a funny smell, it was obvious the vegetables were from a can and the steamed rice was hard. It was all swimming in a yellow, gloppy sauce that appeared to have eggs in it — I’m not even sure they were completely cooked. Even the fortune cookie taste nasty. I usually go to Pearl across the street but thought I would give Bobo a try. Sorry, never again!

Bobo China is the best! Food is always delicious and plentiful, prices are great for amount and quality you get! Asked for all white meat and she informed me that’s all they use! This place is seriously awesome, love it! I come here probably once a week!

Summary First: Ate there last evening. Supper crowd. Would NOT recommend this restaurant. Ordered Ming chicken: Yellow sauce was 30% oil. No flavor. Returned meal for Broccoli Meat. This sauce was 30% oil and again with no taste. Sauce tasted burnt. No hint of garlic or ginger in either sauces. Wine list is surprisingly large. Beer selection is very limited. Pros: building is approachable but can use some paint to add sparkle to the exterior. Interior architectural appearance matches menu and food and atmosphere. Cons: This BOBO China is not a sister with the BOBO China in Garland. signed: Professional Restaurant Reviewer«Mr P».

Bobo is a family owned restaurant that is of course run by a China family. The food is good here and the portions are large. If you come here as a couple, one order is more than enough for two people.

We have been coming to BoBo for the last 10 years, although the vast majority of the time we get the food to-go. As others have said the restaurant itself is a «Hole in the Wall» — it is decorated in the Chinese Style, but I don’t think they have updated/refurbished since they opened — which was before we moved there.- so if its elegant interior design you need — you probably should go to Pei-Wei or PF Changs. But the staff are friendly and have not changed all the time we have been there. They remember you, they always ask after my Son, even when its been several months or longer since we have last been there. Is the food classic authentic Chinese that is going to win culinary awards? No. Is it great tasting, with BoBo’s own recpies and unique spin’s on some Chinese dishes, with always plenty left over for lunch the next day, when it tastes just as good! YES! I think a lot of people do get their food to go — and that is the places main business because whenever I go to collect it is quiet and they have a TV set up in one of the booths. And I think this says a lot because until very recently they did not do delivery and even now they only do it if they are not busy and you live relatively close. We haven’t kept going back for 10 years because we didn’t like it, and it is still just as good as when we first dined there. In fact it is my Son’s favorite Chinese.

My favorite hole in the wall Chinese place in all of DFW. The waitsaff(after the second visit) will probably remember your exact meal. In fact, they don’t even offer us menus as they know what we like. The food taste is consistant. Dinner portions are large(think=leftovers). Atmosphere is non-existant. Refills on drinks are plentiful. Hot and sour soup and orange chicken is the lunchtime winner.

When we moved into the neighborhood behind Bobo China, we were equal parts excited by the prospect of having yummy Chinese in walking distance and the name of the restaurant, which has not stopped amusing me. Unfortunately, what we found was the most terrifying eating experience I may have ever had, and I’ve eaten off of some really questionable food carts in Mexico. To start with, the restaurant itself was dirty. We were seated at a booth and the walls were covered in grime and the scrawling of small children. Everything had a general funk to it — the booth, the table, yuck. But I think we can all agree that some of the best tasting Chinese food comes from some of the raunchiest looking restaurants, so I still had hope. Then the food came. My husbands egg drop soup looked like dishwater with a mixture of mucus and a few sad vegetables floating around in it. His orange chicken has a strange texture… it looked like a food advertisement from the 70’s — too shiny, and an unnatural color. My veggie lo mein had bizarre, unidentifiable things in it. After a couple of attempts at eating what we were served, we did something we’ve never done. We agreed it was too gross to eat and had to leave with our plates full, our stomachs empty, and our appetites ruined. I’ve heard rumors that the food here used to be delicious — even worth making trips from surrounding cities for. Alas, those days are gone. I could understand if one or two things didn’t seem right, but everything down to the fried rice was inedible.

The General Zso chicken was strange. The chicken was just one huge, stringy fried piece. The flavor was great, but the texture was all off. The veggies weren’t cooked, they were totally raw. Service was good though. Wasn’t impressed enough to go back though. Reasonably priced though.
