Best Kmart around, the level of service I experienced at this location was above and beyond my expectations. The manger Curt was very knowledgable on BBQ selection and provided impressive customer service. Ursula at returns also was friendly and provided fast and efficient customer service, that left me feeling good about being another loyal customer to this location.

Good customer service, clean store, well stocked. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star is because there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to where things are placed. Better organizational skills would be appreciated.

This store has been my pet peeve living in Grass Valley. They rarely have what I’m looking for, yet I continue to search for things here. This Kmart as well as all other Kmarts have ceased sales of video games, making the electronics department completely pointless for me. Considering this was the only licensed video game retailer in town, it’s very disappointing to lose access to them in the community. They are one of about three corporate men’s clothing stores in town. In terms of fashionable fitted clothing, their Adam Levine collection is the only thing worth checking out, but the quality and fit still leaves much to be desired and much of the clothing is heavily inspired by or directly copies luxury design brands. The rest of store is horribly outdated, making it a less pleasurable experience. On the plus side, they majority of the store is clean and tidy. They keep the few things that they sell fairly well organized. And while they do have a few bad apples from time to time, their employees are generally nice people. I personally think the primary problem with this store is that it is a Kmart. If it were a Target or even a Wal-Mart with the same employees it would probably be a significantly more enjoyable experience.

By far one of the best kmarts i have seen, been to and shopped at. bikes, bbq’s, etc. arent locked up in front of the store what does that tell you besides theres a guy with a shot guy in the bushes waiting for thieves, lol. This store is organized, clean floors, aisles, amazing customer service, prices up on shelves and well stocked. Employees arent a-holes and seem happy to be there, have a job and to assist you as they can.

This is your average Kmart. Nothing special — nothing horrible. The bathrooms have always been tidy and while the merchandise selection isn’t the best, it’s generally tidy. I waffled between 3 – 4 stars and went for 4 because of friendly customer service.

I don’t understand all the negative reviews… amongst KMarts, Grass Valley’s shines brightly as one of the best ones! [Compare it to Auburn’s, for instance, and I lived in Auburn for over twenty years, so I know whereof I speak!!] Sure, not everything is there all the time… but since it’s really the ONLY big all-purpose retail venue in the area except for JC Penney, they run out of stuff because so many people shop there. I’ve had only good experiences with the employees… and I’m grateful that there is an employer who will hire kids with blue hair and piercings!!! And I’ve never had any trouble taking stuff back, either. If you have«trouble» frequenting a store that is aimed at the less well-heeled, then by all means, use your time, gasoline and money driving down the hill. For me, I’m very, very glad I didn’t shop at Target in Auburn at all last year. I like our local KMart better!

I think they hire exclusively«special needs» people here. I have had the misfortune of visiting this establishment most if my life and it only has gotten worse. If you dont live in GV save the heartache and drive down the hill. Straight up walking dead in this place worse than a wallmart.

ive been coming here since ive lived out here, which is 4 years now. theres always interesting people in the parking lot, and i like that. whenever they run out of something, it seems to literally take months for them to restock it. theres a lot of friendly people working here. the reason why i wanted to write a review is my entire lunch break was taken away from me in this place last week. they are always hassling you to make some kind of charity donation. well, like usual, they asked and i said no. after the transaction, i saw they had stollen ten dollars from and donated it to a charity! i asked the cashier to reverse it and the cashier had the nerve to tell me that it was my fault! then he tells me i have to sit and wait in the customer service line, where i waited 20 minutes to get my money back that was taken from me.

To all the people giving bad reviews… it’s a small town K Mart. End of story. Set your expectations at a reasonable level, and you won’t be disappointed.

This Kmart has been around for ages and it FEELS like it. It has a decent pharmacy and fishing area, but that’s about it. The service there is SOSLOW that it alone prevents me from going in. When I need something that I know they have, I’ll drive farther just to get it somewhere else because I can’t stand that slow as molasses line. The stock there is always in a mild to severe state of chaos to, which is very annoying when you need to get to something and there are boxes and packing items piled up to my chin, blocking everything. I know Kmart can do better. All you have to do is drive in to Auburn and walk into the Kmart there. It’s like night and day. The quality of a store starts with it’s management and goes from there. Grass Valley Kmart’s days are numbered and for good reason.

Ughhh!!! This Kmart needs to be pushed over and something way better built in its place. Yes it has changed looks over the last 30 years but not much. Soo looking forward to the new Wal Mart coming to Auburn, which I will gladly drive down to spen my money at. I would only go to this Kmart if all other places in GV dont have what I am looking for. I have maybe visited our Kmart twice in the last year and only out of desperation and to only be let down. They are usually out of a good majority of thier stock and finding a rep to help is almost impossible. I will give them this, their fishing items are probably the best in town. But I cannot give any better star than a 1.

Smaller than most, also older and grungier. They don’t have enough employees to handle the customers, so if you need help, forget it. One time I was buying paint there and they had to mix it and I had to walk all over the store to find someone. If they don’t want to have a dedicated hardware employee, then don’t offer mixed paint! The whole adventure took like ½ an hour. I just waited on hold for more than 10 minutes with a question about some clothing sizes that should have been easy to answer. The merchandise is perfectly fine. They have a nice, smallish plant nursery, a snack bar, and the other usual departments. Their selection is fine, but not as good as some K-marts. I’ve bought a few things there over the years; it’s nice to have near my house for when the hardware store is closed and I need some random hardware item. I’ve bought a couple of garments that are nice, but most are not my style. I feel sorry for the employees who always look so frazzled and busy. There’s always someone outside(and sometimes inside) the store trying to sell you something: photograph packages, chocolates to raise money for a mission, puppies. You really have to walk a gauntlet just to get inside. Driving through the parking lot is dangerous, too, because there are always a lot of fat, clueless customers lumbering around, oblivious the various moving vehicles. The local narcotics squad likes to do controlled buys in the parking lot there, so often you’ll see a swarm of Sheriff’s vehicles and a deputy questioning a sobbing woman or man in cuffs. There’s always a guy with a pickup full of firewood for sale, and sometimes someone selling mandarins or oranges. So if you’re looking for the Grass Valley market square experience, this is the place to go, but I find it pretty grim and only go there in a pinch.

Typical K-Mart it is fairly close to the highway on your way back to AUburn or to Grass Valley or Nevada CIty.
