I have eaten at Emil’s several times(more than 5), and really enjoy the food. The service is ok, unless it is really busy, then expect to wait. Before today, I would have given this place 5 stars, however, not now. My husband and I ate there today, and had an unusual experience. I ordered one of the specials of the day, the $ 5.00 cheeseburger. The menu says cheeseburger with fries, no substitutes. When the burger came, it had absolutely nothing on it, just meat, cheese, and bread. I asked the waitress for some onions and pickles. She told me she would have to charge me the full price since as the special it didn’t come with anything. Imagine my surprise that a slice of onion and a pickle spear cost me $ 3.99. I won’t be ordering the special anymore. And note, the menu does not say it has nothing on it, it just says no substitutes.

My dad said he used to hang out here: in his younger days”. So we were in the area and decided to stop in, and I couldn’t be happier. The food was fantastic, the service was great, and atmosphere was a lot of fun. Typical bar, but better. I will definitely stop in again if are back in the area. The outdoor patio was awesome as well, however, there was some band playing that was not so good, otherwise we would have preferred to sit outside on such a beautiful day.

This is a great family sports bar. The food and beer selections are better than most. The wait times can be a little long if you have small kids.

I have never walked out of a restaurant in my life, but I did from Emil’s in Grayslake for the first time. Emil’s was a good restaurant, but recently declined in quality. The last time we were there two weeks ago, we were told it would be a 20 min wait. That was fine by us, but an hour later our food still hadn’t arrived. We asked at about the 40 minute mark and were told the kitchen was backed up it would be a few minutes. After another 20 mins we left. My daughter was told to stop by and pick up a gift card and when she did the staff said they didn’t know anything about it. Quality down, management down.

Long wait for sub-par diner food. I would not recommend getting here between 7pm and 8pm of you want to have dinner. When there is a band paying as people just hang out drinking a beer, so no chance you will get seated. Service is OK. Enjoy!

Average at best. Very small entrée salads. Husband ordered Buffalo chicken salad. Minimal ingredients -. Lettuce chicken and a few tomatoes. Yippee. I had a southwestern turkey burgers. Turkey and bun were good. Toppings ok. Fries awful. Limp. They need to clean the fryer and change up the oil. Gaaakkk! Good for a beer, but we will pass on the food.

I visited with my boyfriend and mom when she came to visit for the weekend. The waitress was great. Food was good. We had a lovely dinner together. This was our first visit. No complaints.

We’ve always had a good experience at Emil’s, until tonight. We were informed by our waitress that the kitchen was back-logged about 20 minutes, which is normally fine. However, we waited an hour before eventually getting up and leaving. I felt bad for the waitress because the food issue wasn’t her fault, but she was also quite dismissive & never really stopped to check in with us. It was a surprisingly unhappy experience.

One of my favorite places for dine in or deliver. The pizza and Italian beef sandwiches are consistently delicious. Service varies in consistency but my waitress was on point today.

We ate here on a Thursday night, it was extremely busy. I got a buffalo chicken wrap and my husband got a hamburger. Our waitress forgot to put our daughter’s pizza in, so it came long after we were done eating… She said it was because of the pizza oven but when she brought our food out, she didn’t say anything more about the kids pizza until I asked her where it was– that means she forgot(which wasn’t surprising because she didn’t write our order down but took it by memory). I thought the food was average, but the service was bad. I may give it another chance since it’s convenient to my house.

Had a dinner date with my daughter. This evening was pretty surprising. After eating ½ her chicken sandwich, she found a couple hair on the cheese of the second half. Yuck. Funny, we didn’t order this with a side of hair. The real issue was the manager’s attitude. «It happens…» I have never had this happen before. And if it did, I doubt the manager would say«It happens…» We lost our appetites. They offered her another sandwich. Neither of us were finishing anything. They did charge us for a drink I barely touched and for appetizers we didn’t finish. It really doesn’t happen that often(or ever to us). If you think it happens(at Emils) I think you may have a problem there with cleanliness.

One of the better places to grab a meal with the family. We really love the mozzarella sticks! Truly one of a kind and always so great! There’s a good selection of pizza, but I would suggest that you don’t order delivery. There are better options in the area ONLY when it comes to delivery. The last few times we had pizza delivered it either wasn’t fully cooked or was cold — like we were the last stop on a long route. If you’re getting pizza in house, I’d suggest one of their specialty za’s! Price is competitive with the area, but for now Emil’s has a monopoly based on the area. What I mean by that is that it’s smack dab in the center of the downtown area, so you’ll always be thinking about it when you’re in the area and your belly is growling. It can get too crowded if there’s a game on. I’m not talking too crowded as in «oh gosh this is a lot of people,» but rather«I can’t even move without bumping into someone!» At times like that, I’ll go get food elsewhere and head over to Light the Lamp down the street. All-in-all, great place, really good food!

I liked it! We drove to Grayslake on a Saturday evening to go to another place(The Vine) to dine. I had a taste for a burger and a beer. After I found a great parking spot right out in front of the place and we walked in they told us that it would be at least a 1 hour wait, really one hour? The heck with that(The Vine). My wife suggested that we walk down the street to Emil’s. I forgot that they were right down the street. We headed to Emil’s and when we went in they place was happening but there were plenty of seats to grab a table. I am more familiar with the Emil’s in Mundelein where I grew up. The places are both owned by brothers. I have to say that this Emil’s is newer and bigger than the one in Mundelein. We ordered our drinks and food and sat there watching some football games on the many TV’s that they have. The server was one of those guys that you tell him what you want and he doesn’t write it down. This is always headed for disaster. I ordered a Patty Melt which comes with fries. After about 15 minutes the food arrived. Everything that we ordered was there which was nice. The only thing that I was missing was my utensils and a napkin. Other than that it was all good. The place is big and nicely done — 4 stars Lots of TV’s — 5 stars The food was tasty — 4 stars The staff and service — 3.5 stars Overall score is 4.125

We dropped by Emil’s for dinner on a Tuesday night and had a great time. Décor: This place is a sports bar through and through. There are lots of tables on one side and a four-sided full bar + high boys on the other — needless to say they can easily accommodate any size group you have. The place is well lit, has plenty of TVs, and the perfect amount of sports decoration to drive the point home without being annoying. Bathroom: very clean and inviting Staff: The greeter and our waitress were both super friendly and quick with their respective jobs. Our waitress checked on us several times and our food was prepared VERY quickly(with zero quality sacrifice). Food/Drinks: We came here for two things and two things only, wings and beer, and we had our fill of both! The beer selection is pretty solid and a mix of the standard stuff(I love me some Coors Light) and some craft stuff(they also have Leinenkugel’s!). And the wings… oh man, the WINGS! They are SOGOOD. In fact, I’d dare to say they are prefect. They are good-sized, served perfectly crispy(with zero breading), and the sauce ratio is spot-on(we had buffalo, which was classic and delicious, and garlic, which was a bit like a buffalo garlic and FANTASTIC)! Seriously, they make wings EXACTLY how I like them. I’m salivating just recalling them as I type this… absolutely OUTSTANDING! Value: The prices are right about where you’d think they should be so, given the great service and outstanding food, you definitely get your money’s worth here. Emil’s is wonderful. I already cannot wait to return and try some different items on the menu(I’ve heard the pizza is also a delight).

One of the best suburban eats in the Chicago land. Home run on all accounts. Beer selection, apps, entrees, and service. All good. Start with the wings. Buffalo style that are nice and big but well done. Then try any of the following: freg burger: a grilled cheer sandwich stuffed wit a ½ lb burger and a fried egg. Or the ahi tuna sandwich with wasabi mayo. Or the ribs and broasted chicken. Or the the headliner… the smoked prime rib. All good. Sprinkle in the craft beer selection and great service and this place is awesomeness. Try it now. I’ll likely be here.

Was in the area around lunch time yesterday and got a pleasant surprise! Walked down the street and it showed a Steak Fajita Salad which was enough to draw my fiancé and I in. We sat on the patio and had a tough time making a decision because the food all sounded soo good. We settled on the Ahi Tuna Steak Salad and a Burger. The food came out quickly and tasted amazing! The beer selection is top notch! We are now trying to find out a time that we can escape up to Grayslake again and eat!

First let me say, Emils in Mundelein is awesome. I started eating the Pizza there back in High school which was more than a few years ago. Not sure if it is the ovens or the water or what but this place was never as good as Mundelein, and after several screw ups by stoned order takers for delivery pizza, I have given up on them.

This review is only for takeout. I placed an order through the phone on our way there to pick up the food. The person on the other line was friendly and courteous didn’t seem rushed. I placed an order for a medium sausage and mushroom pizza extra thin, and an appetizer combo. Their establishment is attached to other retail stores. When we walked in there was already a lot of people watching the Hawks game. The place was spacious with two rooms dining area and a huge bar. We were told to go to the back of the bar for our food to be picked up. When we picked up the food it seemed like it was sitting there for a little longer than what they told us when our food would be ready. When I checked out the appetizer combo, it was a lot of food for about $ 14.00. it had the mozzarella sticks that were rolled up in wonton egg roll wraps it was different. Also there was your typical deep-fried mushrooms, Onion rings all topped with fresh cut fries. It was like a treasure hunt for the other appetizers in the fries. It also comes with a 6 piece hot wings. The pizza was a fair amount of cheese sausage and they use fresh mushrooms. It was extra thin but I was hoping to be cracker crust crispy. Maybe it turned soggy because it took us a while to eat are combo appetizer. It had a nice taste to it not too saucy or too tangy. Overall if I’m in the area I come back in order food from here again.

This is a fun, local, establishment. It is a big, loud, sports bar, located in the heart of Grayslake. Emil’s is a great place for family or friends. We stopped in last night(Monday). The Monday night special is $ 1.50 tacos. I ordered four tacos(I ate three and took one home). The tacos are not authentic, but they are tasty, and you can’t beat the price. I tried my wife’s cream of potato and bacon soup — it was delicious! I’ve been here many times, and here are some general observations: — The pizza is excellent. — Emil’s probably has the best tap selection in Grayslake(The Vine is a close 2nd). — Service is fast and friendly. — Great atmosphere for Hawks games and other sports events.

Great place to have drinks watch sports and eat. Not much to complain about when you have that combo in my book. The food here is good on top of that. This location is newer and larger than the original and seems to me has a larger menu and better food than the original. Service is usually efficient and people are nice. Although I generally hit the original location because it closer to me I think this location is an upgrade over the oldie but goodie. Worth the trip.
