I am so sad that Loaf just closed… What can we do to bring you back? I need your chocolate croissants to brighten(and sweeten) my saturday mornings…

This is a terrific little bakery located off of Elm in a cute little pedestrian alley. The selection is big enough to please a variety of tastes and the quality of the baked items is top notch. It would be nice if they had one or two whole grain options for those of us who want a tasty baked item but who are trying to stay fit. I was visiting Greensboro with my daughters and we went here two mornings in a row. They also know how to pull a proper espresso(which, frankly, is one of the real reasons I went back the second day). But the scones, croissants and danishes we ate were very good.

I go to this place anytime I am near Greensboro. The pastries are all amazing. My favorite is the cheese danish The cookies are always delicious and they always have new ones to try. Also the sun dried tomato bread is great for sandwiches or snacking on or to take to a party I’ve always had impeccable service and the owner Robert always makes sure the customers are happy. Loaf is a must try if you are in the area

Get the cheese ball with pineapple. You won’t be disappointed. Chocolate croissants are also amazing. This place is cute but kind of hidden down a side alley, so be sure you don’t miss it. Lots of great freshly baked options to entice you. First came here on a food tour and will definitely keep coming back.

Not that good Ingredients they use don’t taste like high quality although some were King Arthur brand one might expect in a bakery with those prices it would be better Wish they used local Carolina grown wheat ! Bread we tried had a dense texture and crumb

Beautiful latte and wonderful cream cheese Danish. Charming atmosphere. The fresh baked goods draw you right through the door! It’s a cozy space to meet friends.

My boyfriend and I did a weekend trip to NC(his home state) and stopped at this charming little bakery for a quick bite. Sadly they don’t have any of their sandwich options during the weekends(what a pitty), however they have a few options for those who want coffee and a pastry. We ordered the focaccia bread and the spinach and ricotta croissant with two coffees. The coffee was very good, although a little too hot. The focaccia which had cheese, tomatoes, and basil was delicious; fresh and tasty. The Croissant was very good as well. There was only on employee in the store and it got crowded and the wait was more than expected. However, I would definitely stop by again when I come back to Greensboro! Great little charming place for coffee and bread!

Baked goods are okay but staff is terribly unpleasant. No parking and people are always smoking outside.

Went in for my first time today. Sampled Banana bread. The staff member was nice but not extremely helpful. I ordered Tomato Pie and he did not ask if I wanted anything else, like a drink or salad. He asked if I would like it warmed up. I thought to myself well of course but said yes. He then asked if I wanted it in the oven or microwave. I said oven and told him it was my first time in the store and I wanted it to be it’s best. Still no suggestions or response to make a good first impression. He said it would take 7 minutes. When he brought it to me it was cold. I took it back up and he just stuck my plate in the microwave. I am no crazy about paying for microwaved over food. It was $ 4.95 for a slice and I would like it it be fresh or warmed in an oven. It tasted good. Not mind blowing but good. I looked around at the prices and WOW. I might have tried something if I had a better lunch experience but with price and the micorwave issue turned me off. Probably will not return, I love bread and work downtown so it was dissapointing.

Not very easy to find. Cute little bakery hotter than hell with slower than slow service. Pastries look good in the display case but buyer beware. Had an almond croissant 1 the dough was not a flaky croissant dough but a Danish pastry dough, the filling was made with leftover pastries with added almond flavoring, all this for 3.50 and minuscule to boot. Come on people wake up with today’s economy your prices need to be real or at least fill the darn croissant with almond paste. Waited 20 min for the Cappuccino with no other clients in line.

Wandering through downtown Greensboro I happened upon this lovely bakery. I tried tomato pie for the first time and it was wonderful. I enjoyed it sitting outside on a beautiful afternoon. I took a raspberry lemon tart home for later that was exceptional, it had that perfect balance of tart and sweet and a tender pastry shell. I was only going to eat half today, but the next thing I knew it was all gone. I will be back the next time I pass through Greensboro, NC.

A charming shop with very friendly and accommodating staff. Great place to grab a bite for lunch!(Though they do not have the quickest service.) As a vegetarian, I felt there were tons of options. And every kind of bread they had looked amazing. I personally chose the rosemary olive oil, and it did not disappoint! Went perfectly with my mozzarella and pesto sandwich. It is quite a hearty sandwich, especially for a lunch. I’ll be back!

I foolishly let a few months pass before returning. However, inspired by the rosemary-olive boule from Loaf that Bestway carried(!!), I woke up on a perfect spring Friday morning with a profound desire for the finest breads and pastries… and so naturally I opted to go directly to the source, Loaf. Despite my history of being let down by focaccia, which always seems to look better than it tastes, I decided to give this focaccia a whirl. THISISTHEFOCACCIA I’VEHELDOUTFOR. Bursting with complex flavor and bearing a perfect, soft and delicate texture, I could not have asked for anything more(maybe a fine piece of cheese to go with it). I finished that off with half of a rich blueberry Danish, bearing the perfect amount of cheese tucked away under a rich, dark purple dollop of sweet blueberries. Be still my heart.

Probably the best bakery in GSO and they have such a charming location next to chakras spa. It looks like a charming European bakery from pintrest when lit up at night. This morning, I had the jalapeño focaccia along with lemon biscotti and latte. It was pretty filling meal and the biscotti was especially good. The staff is usually friendly and they have free samples too. This place is worth stopping by for a bite.

Loaf bakery offers a several vegan bread choices, including some delicious fruit and nut combinations. On Saturdays, Loaf has a booth at the Yancyville farmer’s curb market which is where I usually make a purchase. The curb market seems cleaner than the bakery shop. Last time I made a purchase I paid $ 6 for a single fruit/nut bread loaf — damn expensive — and $ 2 more than anything I can get at Whole Foods or Deep Roots where the ingredients are more likely to be organic and the bread is equally tasty. Fresh bread in San Francisco doesn’t cost this much. The Loaf advantage is Local. Friendliness varies depending on the employees. I’ll continue to buy the occasional loaf when overwhelmed by craving and hope they can better control over pricing/costs.

I am working my way through the Loaf bakery offering. So far, my favorites are nuts about seeds and oatmeal. Also loved the walnut fig with honey fig goat cheese spread.

In my humble opinion, the bakery is as good as bakeries get, and bonus, it’s within easy walking distance of my office! Their delicious treats represent the full spectrum of baked goods, from sweet pastries, to unique breads, to savory quiches, fritattas, and sandwiches. For good measure they also offer salads for the carb-adverse in the crowd. I have yet to sample their coffee and tea options, of which there are many, but I hear only good things. The staff will chat with you with a smile and let you sample almost anything. My favs are the Rustic Baguette and the Pecan, gruyère, and currant bread, although I have yet to try something I didn’t adore. If you are in the DT area, stop by!

I had been wanting to try this place for a while and decided to stop in one morning on my way to work for some coffee and a pastry of some sort. When I went in my eyes were drawn to the pastry display case. The bottom case had some delicious looking pastries, yet what got my attention even more was there was flies and gnats flying around inside the case! As i continued to look in the other cases, one of the gnats landed in the fruit filling of one of the pastries! I would have said something to one of the people that worked there, but they seemed preoccupied that morning and weren’t too apt to serve. So I just chose a gnat free case and made my purchase and left. All I got was a brioche and a small coffee. It was almost $ 5, I wasn’t too impressed. So probably wont be returning.

Loaf Bakery is situated in an alley in downtown Greensboro, all the way back on the left. If you are familiar with Simple Kneads then you know right where I am talking about. Upon arrival you will notice benches and stainless look tables to sit at while enjoying your espresso or café latte’s. There are lights strung up in the air from one side of a building to another which can create quite a nice ambiance at night. You can smell the pastry’s and breads before you even walk in the door. They offer many different types of breads, all handmade with natural and organic ingredients. I tried to Rosemary Olive bread which I didn’t really care for, however, I ended up buying a loaf of Whole Grain bread. They will slice it for you as well so that you don’t have to when you serve it. This particular visit I had a Blueberry Peach Scone and a soda. Perfect little treat for a mid day Brunch. There were several things that I want to try so I will definitely be back. Unfortunately, I couldn’t try them all at one time.

Enter through the narrow Alley — If you knew where«Simple Kneads» was — that is where«Loaf» is now! I fell in Love with this place(when it was Simple Kneads) and if it were not for my friend«French-Fry Head Boyman» I would have never(originally) found the location of this place! Improvements: Seems like the Staff is friendlier(though they were just fine before) — Seems like there is more outdoor seating, more indoor seating and the place just looks better! Is the bread, cookies, pastry’s as good, I can not say until I go back and taste more! What a great reason to go back! It is easy for me to imagine Falling in Love here — This is a very Cool and Romantic spot, I will visit every time I’m in Downtown Greensboro!
