Finally a really good Chinese restaurant in Gresham. Food amazing, hot and sour soup a must try, the vegetables in several dishes we tried really fresh, and the service amazing. We sat in the bar and Lucy was the best. Highly recommended.

The food was tasty and high quality. The portions were a little off in my opinion unfortunately. I got the orange chicken and rice. I was served a huge plate of chicken and a very small bowl of rice. I also had to send my California rolls back twice before refusing them all together because they were repeatedly made wrong. The restaurant was beautiful and the service was good. I might go back and give this place another chance. Hopefully they can figure out how to make simple sushi by then.

After years of wondering if I just don’t like Chinese food like other Americans, or if Gresham’s Chinese food scene sucked, along came this place! The beautiful building finally opened and is being used for what it should be: delicious, reasonable priced Asian food. The lobby immediately makes you feel like this isn’t your average«quick and greasy» Food Palace. Everything is obviously newer and very clean, and even the staff was well put together, though our host wasn’t the friendliest until it came time to pay and leave. But onto the important part; the food! (We took pictures for the curious) We started with crab puffs, which were delicious! A nice balance of cream cheese and crab, and we weren’t disappointed. We were pleased that the cook(from the taste of it) was using fresh, clean, and decent quality oil. Our main dishes, which my husband and I always share family style from our plates, was very good, fresh, and a nicely balanced between veggie/meat/noodle. Not too greasy, and made with care, we WILL be back! Only thing I wish I would of tried their sushi while we were there…

Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had around Gresham. The food is on spot! Huge menu, they even have a sushi bar. Chinese food+sushi+beer for two was $ 40 including tip. Price’s are reasonable, and this place is FRESH! Definitely will be going back.

I was pretty excited to see this location open, especially since it’s close by. Everything was great, beautiful décor, super clean, and great staff. I will say I was a bit disappointed in the quantity of the food we received. For the amount we paid, we received more vegetables in our plates then meat, the portions presented wasn’t much and there wasn’t much flavor. I absolutely love Chinese food, but I think we’ll keep driving to Portland for Chinese food.

Very impressed! Starting with the service, outstanding delivery on the phone when calling in my order. Then, when picking up the order, the girl at the counter was VERY attentive and service-oriented. Well trained. The food was different than your cheap American-Chinese. The ‘normal dishes’ were flavorful with a unique delicious flavoring. This place only opened up a few months ago, the inside décor is very nice and unique. Give it a try if you’re looking for Chines in east Portland!

Huge portions, good food, bit of a wait, but worth it. We will be back. «You will advance socially without any special effort… In bed. »

I cannot tolerate that spicy mustard and they mix it into their red sauce along with even more spicy mustard. The rice is bland, the portion sizes are small compared to the price you pay and the sub-par quality of the food. I’m highly disappointed that you cannot substitute things. I was told when we went their the first time it was because of their soft launch to allow cooks to get used to it. But now it’s just policy. This is probably one of the biggest turn offs for me to this place. I don’t like one thing in each of the combinations and they refuse to let you sub even for an additional price. Our waitress was rather curt. I listed fried shrimp as the only thing in the appetizer tray that I didn’t like and she suggested that we buy the veggie egg rolls and bbq pork separately to avoid the shrimp. Because that makes sense. Spend an extra 10 just to avoid something I don’t like because they won’t let you substitute. The tea was ungodly weak. We might as well have been drinking warm water. I also don’t appreciate their card reader. The waitress gave us the reader and we asked her to run it for us as last time we messed it up. She went through the steps and than promptly left us to figure out how to make it print. Overall: food is sub-par for the price, service is less than desirable, and what place won’t work with their customers on substitutions? Even when they are willing to pay a slightly higher price to get exactly what they want.

The service was fast, although the server was clearly new to serving. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken, the chicken chow mein, and pork fried rice. The only good dish was the sweet and sour chicken; the chow mein was bland and had no «chow mein», it was only bean sprouts… The fried rice had little to no seasoning whatsoever. I’m only giving them 3 stars because the food was cheap for the large serving sizes.

For starters I see this place just opened and wanted to see what the inside looked like I visited this place right before they closed down. I stop in on Thursday after work and ate inside the restaurant. It’s very bright and clean looking. Feeling impressed about the appearance I was eager to taste the food. Found the prices a bit spendy but figured the food must be very good for the cost of the combination dinners. Portions are smaller then most Chinese restaurants. Ordered #1& large shrimp. Egg Foo young was pretty good, pork chow mein was good, pork fried rice was bland no real flavor and fried shrimp wasn’t too greasy. I love Chinese food so decided to order out this time and this is where they lost my business forever. Called in at 2:51pm to order a to go order same items as above was told they don’t start serving combinations until 3pm. I told the lady that’s fine I can pick up at 3 – 3:15 she said you have to wait until 3 to call it in. I was confused and said it’s 9 minutes until 3pm you cant. take the order and have it ready after 3pm? She said yes it will be ready at 3:15pm. I ran to Safeway for a few items went to pick food up at 3:15 and was told she lost my phone order and I would have to order again. Now I order the food and was told it wouldn’t be ready until 3:45pm. A little upset I said fine and waited in the car. Requested extra red sauce because I know some places will give you 1 – 2 for a large shrimp. Got order and went home to eat and watch movie. Started making my plate and realized 2 red sauces ugh! Called restaurant and the lady that took both orders answered. So now I decided to explain my complaint from having to order twice. She told me she was busy and if I was in her shoes I would understand. I said ma’am I understand how it is to be busy and since your a new restaurant maybe I should speak to the manager and let them know maybe they need more people working. Mind you it was only cars and plenty of open tables so I didn’t see busy. I then explained my request for red sauce wasn’t in the bag. She said she didn’t bag the food and it wasn’t her fault. I asked her for her name and she asked me why with a attitude I explained so when I speak with the manager I can tell them who I spoke with next thing I know she hung up on me. I called back and requested to speak with the manager. She puts a owner on the phone who said that their a brand new restaurant and their employees haven’t graduated yet. He thanked me and then rushed me of the phone. I will not be going back there customer service is horrible.

Today my husband and I decided to give this place another chance. We decided to go to the bar this time, and very glad we did. Corri was our bartender and she was fantastic. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our return visit. You can tell she is a professional and truly cared about our experience. The food was fantastic and consistent.

After reading some of these reviews we were a little leery to try them, but I can happily say we they greatly exceeded our expectations! Our personal judge of a good Chinese restaurant is the BBQ Pork, the crab puffs and the pork chow mein — and we ordered all three. They were all really good! A couple of low notes though… The tea had a sharp tannin taste like it had sat all day and got too strong. Also, the egg flower soup had too much 5 spice in it for our taste. We will go back, I can tell you they spared no expense in the remodel… The bar is gorgeous and don’t forget to look up at the ceiling in the main restaurant — it’s breathtaking!

For starters — you’ve got to go in to this place just to look at what they’ve done. Especially if you were there before the remodel. I’ve not stepped in this place since the early 80s I do believe and never went back as it was dirty and dark. All the turkey was gobbled up and so we needed to just get out and get a meal and my curiosity about this place needed feeding as well. We headed into the lounge to eat as there were less people and I was just not in the mood to listen to crying children should there be any. Lucy was a great bartender/server. She came over quickly to our table to get our order. We are kind of picky and I really do not like greasy chinese food so we order less oil and less salt. We ordered shrimp lo mein and scallops with vegetables. I so wanted the shrimp/walnut dish but they were out of it? I guess they ran out of walnuts? At any rate the dishes came out with fresh veggies(not overcooked either) also. There seemed to be a lot of celery though on one of the dishes so it kind of took over the whole meal. Also, since we asked for low salt there did not seem to be any other spices so the dishes were a little boring. I’ll just mention add extra spices next time we come in and maybe they might just let me get in the kitchen and cook it myself haha.

Update to previous review… we decided to give this place a 2nd shot after having a bad experience in the lounge. This time we sat on the restaurant side and had an excellent experience. The server(Julia) greeted us in less than a minute, waters and menus places right away, great attitude, and really good Chinese food. We started with potstickers and ordered orange chicken, general tso, and salted pepper squid for our main entrée. Everything was great and reasonably priced. Enjoy!

The sushi was great. Good flavor. Large rolls. We had the Long Island and one other with crab – I think maybe called the tempura roll. Both were good. The remodel turned out very nicely. They really put a lot of effort into it. The kids had a Chinese kids meal, which looked fine. I was a bit disappointed with their fried rice, which lacked peas or carrots, and didn’t seem to have much in the way of eggs. Prices were fair. The staff were definitely still working out the kinks of their service, but I think they will get there. We will be back in a few weeks to see how things progress after the grand opening.

Pro: enthusiastic staff. Pretty décor. Ample seating. Classic Chinese hot tea . Cons: we waited for 15 – 30 minutes for a booth. Though there was(no lie) 10 – 20 tables/booths open. Our waitress was nice and eager to please but she forgot a part of our order. Because we waited long enough we didn’t bother to mention our missing items until the check came. I ordered a Vegas roll(sushi) it was terrible and not remotely compareable to any other place we have been. It tasted of fridge and the tuna was rubbery(not fresh, and an odd red) We ordered two #2 dinners. Which included: bbq pork, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, chicken chow main. Soup of choice: egg flower, hot and sour or miso. We both chose eggflower.. I also had hot tea. We both had water to drink. The photo I have included is a large plate. That had included a very small portion of sweet and sour chicken and bbq pork. The chicken was reheated rubbery texture. The bbq pork was dry and hard. The chow main and rice were both salty and huge globs compared to the chicken and pork. Outcome of this visit: maybe try it again but unlikely.

Delicious!!! First, let me just say that I’ve waited 3 years for this building of old Yun’s Garden to be filled. I’m so glad there is a great Chinese restaurant now open in Gresham. Their décor and set up was BEAUTIFULLY done. Okay, now to the good stuff… Their staff and customer service was exceptional. Food… I had the lunch special with some sushi. I ordered the California roll. It was delicious and prepared perfectly on the plate. I also ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special. It comes with a choice of soup when you dine-in, and I chose the egg flower. It was great!!! I’ve never had corn in mine before though, btw. Nice touch. Lunch special also comes with a fried egg roll and pork. Their Kung Pao was great. I’m iffy ordering it just any where, but they got a 5⁄5 in my book. The only constructive criticism I have, is their fried rice. It was good with soy sauce and mixed in with the Kung Pao… But definitely not a hit by itself. Not much egg, peas, etc… Mainly just brown rice. Above and beyond, they are awesome in my book. I will be back. And again, I’m so excited there is a great Chinese restaurant in Gresham! PS: They have a lounge as well. Full bar.

A little expensive especially since the food is meh. We were not told this is a soft opening. We knew they were new but it wasn’t until we were leaving that we were told this is a soft opening and the cooks are still learning. Explained alot and made me even less happy to be paying a higher end of pricing for Chinese food. I think they should tell you up front so you can decide if you want to pay this much. We had general Tso chicken, pork fried rice and bbq pork lo mein. The chicken was way overcooked, the rice was bland and the lo mein had vegetables we didn’t know about even though the waitress had to go ask what was in it. The hostess at the front counter mumbles horribly and can’t answer direct questions. They have more combos but those aren’t available yet while the cooks are learning. I don’t think I will be going back here.

Food was ok, but nothing special. I think the BBQ Pork was the highlight of the meal. The place was nice, clean, and new inside. The service was good considering everyone learning their jobs at a new restaurant.
