Pay no attention to the bad reviews. I’ve been eating at this establishment with my family since I was a child.(But then we unfortunately moved to a different city.) Chinese happiness has the BEST hot and sour soup and best beef and broccoli. Three stars certainly don’t do it justice!

Service was quick, acknowledging and cheerful. Loved the Kung Pao Chicken! Nice atmosphere, not overblown and not a dive. Nice place for a family dinner.

The food was gross, the cocktail sauce that accompanied my fried shrimp tasted just like ketchup with a little bit of hot mustard. The only redeeming quality is the egg flower soup and the prices.

Do you ever feel like your in a Seinfeld episode where the events that are occurring seem almost made up. Truman show like? Well my friends, step right up and be prepared for the most mediocre food and service at its best. To start we are in Gresham. i know. most people will stop reading right here huh? But if you live in the area and find yourself without a car you can only do so much. Yes i should of noticed the Unilocal reviews or the cloud of «what the heck» surrounding this place, but trying not to be a Unilocal snob i ventured forward with a positive attitude. A friend and i came here for lunch, we were seated immediately but it seemed water and menu were a foreign concept right off the get go. I tried to order the most basic meal as i thought that would be the most appropriate meal and should taste good since they are in the lunch rush. Oh how i was wrong. was inedible my friends. and if you have had really bad Chinese food, you know what im talking about. I could go in detail but suffice to say skip this place unless you have some sentimental value going on. I will say the waitresses were busy but lacked common knowledge when it came to coming back to the table for anything. Truly felt like a walmart experience in which you get your sh*it and get out. I did and much like walmart wont be returning anytime soon. Oh Gresham.

Love this place! You get what you payed for and more. My family and I won’t eat Chinese anywhere else. We’ve been costumer for years. I’ve turned many people to this place, not one has said they didn’t love it. My favorite thing in the menu: beef and broccoli. Dine-in or take out. The portions are still huge. You get your meal in minutes and the service is pretty great too.

I love this place. I have no idea why they are under delivery though because to my knowledge they don’t deliver. I love the chicken fried rice it is like no other and I often just get that and eat it alone as a meal. It has big pieces of chicken and it is a very large portion. I have been going here for years when I was younger and still lived with my parents they would get so excited when I would bring home leftovers from lunch with friend so they loved it too. I do have to be honest about the fact that most of my friends don’t love it as much as I do they would probably give it 3 stars. It’s very American Chinese. Service inside and take out is super fast and I just love it. This is always the first place I wanna go for Chinese in my area.

In the past I loved my visits to Chinese Happiness! It was a busy lunch hour & I was a tad disappointed in the staff and the food!

If you like restaurants in the bottom 1% for health inspections, literally, then by all means chow down. Walking into the place should have been my first clue. The back of the building near the dumpster was black from grease and food waste. It was pretty obviouse the building and area around the dumpster hadn’t been cleaned for at least a decade. The next clue was when the waitress was pouring water. She had a plastic pitcher that was caked with dirt, I am talking hasn’t been washed in months filthy. The food itself was mediocre. The service was as to be expected for the type of restaurant as well. The portion sizes were huge, and the prices were dirt cheap. The food came out in less than ten minutes for a ten top, which means every last bit of it came from a warming tray, and it tasted the part. If that is your thing than you might just walk out thinking you got a deal, but it’s nothing Safeway or Panda Express can’t pull off better. Regardless, the place was disgustingly dirty. I was actually so concerned that I decided to look the health inspection records up, and low and behold they have one of the lowest health inspection scores in the whole county for five years running. We’re talking damn near bottom 1% of restaurants, and this place was packing some major health violations. To be honest I am amazed it hasn’t been shut down. Honestly, I can’t really see how anyone could recommend this place. It does nothing that a dozen other restaurants can’t do far better without the sever health code violations. That’s not to say I don’t understand a bad day, because I do, but these were systemic prolonged failures. A water pitcher costs a few dollars, so wash it or replace it. If you are two cheap or lazy to manage that small task than the kitchen must a house of horrors.

Loved this place. Bang for your buck. Huge portions for a cheap price. The owners are extremely friendly and have been around for over 20 years. I will continue to come here. I recommend the pot stickers, general tso’s chicken and pork fried rice! Best Chinese place on Gresham.

I am the worlds least picky eater.(Not an understatement) I will put down just about anything. At the same time I also know when ingredients and food are a step above. This already being a crappy Christmas without family and such, being that I’m relatively new to the area, I was looking forward to Chinese which I always do. We were told this was best place in town so we ordered up a sweet spread. Unfortunately it was a major let down. She told me 15 mins so I went directly there after getting off the phone. I waited 5 minutes when I got there for my order to be completed. I got home opened everything up and I was instantly bummed out. My Lo mein was completely dry and it dropped out of the box in a hard cube. It wasn’t cooked properly cause there were dry hard noodles that never saw sauce. Orange chicken was decent but still a bit odd. The pork fried rice was the same as the Lo mein and it had me thinking I got some food that had been sitting around for hours. The only thing I ate was the potstickers. My crab puffs were crap too! I would not recommend this spot to anybody.

Great«American» Chinese food! I have been going here for a few years and have never had a bad experience. This is my go to for local Chinese food. If you’re looking for this style Chinese food you can’t go wrong. Give it a try.

I was also skeptical, but my husband and I walked by on a Friday night and they seemed pretty busy so we decided to give it a try. It isn’t bad. Nothing we got was incredibly amazing, but I feel like it was pretty good for Americanized Chinese. We got Crab Puffs, Shrimp Lo Mein(The shrimp were clean. I am not sure why other people had this problem.), General Tsuo Tofu, and Veggie Fried rice. It was all tasty, and we got a lot. I would probably get something again when I have an itching for Lo Mein or something, but I wouldn’t make it a really regular place to go. Worth a try if you want some Chinese.

I was a bit skeptical of this place at first. I usually an that way about new to me restaurants though. I found out quickly this would be one of my go to places for Chinese. The food is good. On per with other places in the Portland area. Service is fast and staff is super nice. The chow mein isn’t what I’m used to coming from California. Crunchy noodles and lots of veggies instead of soft chow mein noodles. Still tasty though. Their Happy Special will feed 2!

Ordered to go. Wait time was low, got my food quick! I ordered the #7, but substituted garlic chicken for the kung pao. They didnt charge me extra which was great, but the fried rice was dry, and had little meat in it. The garlic chicken was almost all vegetables, but had good flavor. Fried shrimp was a little over breaded as well.

The Place is filled with little kids screaming, poking their heads up and staring at you. The food we ordered looked pretty ugly. Tasted alright but I still wouldn’t feed it to my dog. If your morbidly obese you would probably love this place. Felt like crap when I got home. The owners were very hospitable, two stars

I personally just get bbq pork and white rice so it’s hard to mess that up. As I have found in other restaurants the bbq pork is hit or miss on freshness. However the reason for three stars are for two things: My boyfriend is allergic to carrots and peas, so he always asks for his meal with no vegetables. Most of the time he has to send it back or check it before he leaves. We usually would eat there but the lack of refills turned my boyfriend off and he’d usually come in with a large fountain drink from safeway. That’s why we’ve stopped eating there and instead get it to go. I’m still bugged by the fact that no vegetables are so hard for them to understand. He asks for each time we order. Our breakfast place on Powell won’t see us for six months and still remember what drinks we all like. We haven’t been eating out much and since we both work on the west side we’ve been eating at a different better place.

The only good thing about this place is the price. The food is horrible. Not even worth reviewing in detail. The bar for restuarants in this area is set very low. No other way to explain all the people I saw chowing down like it was actually good.
