China Garden Buffet

All ‘Chinese ’ chicken entrees had an after taste of chemicals. The sushi was okay. $ 8 lunch buffet. I suppose this would be okay. we wont be back. This is a huge dining establishment with limited choices that could be called chineese food. Im surprised this place has been open for as long as it has. All of the fried food has been out for obviously since opening at 11am. Its now 1. The sweet and sour sauce is icky caca. For all intensive pourposes we checked out the bathroom… clean but STINKY!!!

Dirty high chair and tables. There was old food on my seat. Lots of dirty tables from previous customers. The food was weird and mediocre… I know it’s a buffet but seriously this place is super low quality. I would give no stars if I could. Do not waste your money here.

Pretty gross all around. Did not have a single thing that didn’t taste like the worst version of that dish I’ve ever had.

That is a minus 10 stars!!! We are truck drivers and eat at alot of restaurants but I tell you this one needs health Department to close it before someone ends up in the hospital.
Food is not good enough for my dog, old food just after lunch and for 20 dollars for 2 people go get a burger instead.
Waitstaff is more concerned with phones than customers. Bathrooms smell of sewer.

Have been coming here for years and this time noticed a decline in quality, some items have always been good and still are like the sushi they make it here fresh, the seafood salad as well made here and fresh. But some of the entrees have gone down hill, the garlic bread is hard and dry, the sweet and sour sauce is bland, I couldn’t tell the difference between the chicken on a stick and the fried banana. I will say the muscle in the shell tastes like a muscle, I ate these from right off the rocks at Kape Kiwanda and these taste like them, many don’t like that but that is correct. I hope they read this and pick up the quality again, I do enjoy coming here.

It’s alright. It’s clean enough, and the service is good. There is a really good selection – the buffet is huge. The lunch price is a good value.
Tips: Don’t have the stuffed crabs or dim sum. Trust me. Grocery store sushi is better than here. The seafood is hit and miss – my husband liked the mussels. The potstickers are good.
I recommend the Chang’s Mongolian Grill down the street over this place for noodles and freshness. If you want fried foods, go to Panda Express (also just down the street). For sushi, go to Bento Plus. If you’re looking for variety, come here.

Do NOT EAT HERE. This place is FILTHY, and NASTY! I don’t know how they have not been shut down by health food inspectors.
There is no way I will ever go here again. I saw a lady behind the buffet counter scraping food from a plate back into the buffet serving line. The workers up front were two young boys that were not wearing uniforms, and could care less about people coming and going. They ignored us and kept chatting and looking at their cell phones from behind the counter. Should have took that as a warning sign and saved the $ 40 it cost to feed two adults and two small children.
They took our drink order, but never brought the drinks back. We had to hunt someone down to re-​order our drinks. The whole place gives the impression that the owner does not give a care how the business is ran, and what it looks like.
The booths were falling apart, the floors were filthy, their signage above the buffet lines were falling down, and hanging sideways. OH yes, and do not go to the restroom there. You are better off trying to find a Wal-​Mart, or gas station restroom, it would be much cleaner. You can tell that the restrooms had not been cleaned in months if not longer. The toilets were all clogged hair was all over the toilet seats and sinks, no toilet paper and it smelled like death in there. I shudder to think of what the meal prep area in the kitchen looked like, if they places that clients can see is kept In such a manner. Needless to say we left after 10 minutes, I was furious. We should not have paid, but did. We don’t eat out often, and were truly disappointed for the lack of ownership, horrible service, and scary food.. I asked one of the boys that was up front on his cell phone if it was a chain or privately owned. I requested a card and asked for the manager as well .He acted like he didn’t speak English and handed me a business card that did not have a managers name or website to reference .
Here is their heath inspection review for the last two years on the Multnomah county health dept. website if anyone is curious. Looks like they do have issues with handling food appropriately, and no one seems to know who’s in charge.

Unimpressed with food service, no idea what a refill is. Between lunch and dinner, the variables are low quality. Lunch has as low as you’d expect for mediocre food and dinner is too pricey for the addition of toothpick crab legs.

This place is a shithole. The food is not fresh or at a temperature safe to be served at. Their staff seems uninterested in customer service and have accepted the fact they will soon be out of business.

DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY EATING OUT OF A DUMPSTER. I mean dumpster trash is the same quality as the fare here so if you’re a stray cat, opossum, or raccoon go ahead and gorge yourself here. It’s been 45 minutes since I’ve eaten here and I feel like an alien is going to come screaming out of my gut any minute now.
You know those jet packs that run only on water and have a stream of water flying out of them to keep the person suspended in the air? I’m imagining flying around my neighborhood later tonight with a steady stream of diarrhea propelling me through the air thanks to the rancid meal I ate here.

I came in on a Friday night. Less than $ 30 for two people to eat dinner. Food was all really tasty! The staff seemed a little stressed but were nice anyway. Sushi, Chinese, and Hawaiian BBQ; it seemed a little much at first but I’m actually glad I had so much to choose from. Salad bar was beyond weak and unfortunate. But everything else was good. Clean. I see a lot of negative reviews on the food here and I can say when I went it was all stocked up and real food (besides the salad bar).

Went there today 3/6/15…walked in it looked nice, it was big and seemed pretty legit. Got asked what we wanted to drink and then we proceeded to the buffet. Got up there and from one look the food was under par from what it should be, food was so hot that it was dried and stuck to pans, serving tongs were to hot to grab. The selection was interesting, serving personal size totinos pizza, ans making noodles from spaghetti noodles, there mussles and fish was DISGUSTING looking. I plated a small portion if food and from the first bite the food was NASTY!!, sweet and sour chicken was horrible. The only think i could finish was texas toast garlic bread and a couple bited of Hawaiian bbq. My boyfriend got a generous amount of food and couldn’t even stomach but maybe 5 bites of food, i asked what was wrong and he said he found hair in his food. I told him that this food was more than disgusting and that i wasn’t going to pay for this… we went up to the counter and told the guy that there was hair in his food, the guy said «your just bringing this up now» and i said yes because he just saw it in his food just now and it was his first plate. We had to explain it over and over and over to get his to understand that there was hair in his food. Being im a decent human being I told him i was only paying for one meal and drinks, he quickly agreed. I wouldn’t feed this good to my dog, I dont see how this place is still in business. The language barrier is insane, like they have to focus extra hard to speak English to communicate but even then they cant comprehend what is being said to them, that alone is going to bankrupt them. If i get sick i will be reporting them to the BBB. I encourage people to NOT go here because their food is nasty and customer service is horrible.

I can get better food out of a vending machine. Don’t waste you money so up the street.

HORRIBLE PLACE! I wouldn’t even rate one star at all, it was terrible and disgusting.
My boyfriend and I wanted to go out for the evening and saw this place near us and said why not… never again. Place smelled like urine and that sour rag smell. I thought to myself, maybe I’m being too harsh… turns out NOPE! So we got our food and it was just covered in oily and fatty sauce. I got just the various kinds of chicken, rice, spring rolls, and fried noodles. So first off the chicken was really fatty and it was just blahh. So I moved over to the veggie spring rolls and it was stuffed with mainly mashed potatoes or something, I had no idea what the hell it was. Next came the fried noodles, they were soggy and no flavor at all. So I got up and decided to get some salad and fruit, thinking that they can’t screw up on that… totally wrong! Salad was covered in water and was soggy, you could actually see a lot of excess water dripping off of my lettuce. Fruit was good because all they had to do was frigging slice it up. So then I made my way to the dessert and the ice cream they had was supposedly vanilla ice cream, nope it was tapioca and vanilla custard mixed together. Overall food tasted horrible, not a lot of selection, and tasted like it came right from the store onto my plate, no cooking at all. Also tasted like canned food.
The service was horrible, even though we got greeted by a smile by our hostess, she never stopped by to refill my drink, I actually caught her when she was seating a family down. Then we got the bill, it was 26 bucks for two meals and two drinks. Not worth it at all! Never going back there again even if they do have free birthday meals.
My advice is to go Panda Express instead, it’s way better than whatever crap that they serve at this Chinese Buffet and cheaper as well.

There was a guy sitting behind the counter when we arrived in which he didn’t greet right away. When we went to the table and went to get our food, there was a lot of empty items. This was around 7:30 pm and they don’t close till 9pm.
During the time we were there, the food wasn’t being replenished and several people had asked the waitress where the food was and that there was empty items and there was nothing done about it. I went to get some Mongolian around 8:15 and all the tongs were pulled away already. When we asked about it, we were told that they close the Mongolian at 8:30 which we had 15 more minutes. When we asked why there wasn’t a sign for this, they said they need to clean. When we asked the waitress about the food she had nothing to say. A cook came out to look at the food and when we tried to talk to him he walked to the back. When we asked the waitress who the manager was she said she didn’t know.
The host who took us to our seats in the beginning was passing by and we asked about the food being replenished. He said there was food. Another customer who had asked an hour prior for food to be replenished came over as well. We pointed out that there were at least 10 items that were emptied and that most were not replenished since we arrived, the host answered that «you can see there is still food». We were about done at that point. Barely eaten anything worth what we paid.
As we went to the counter we were being charged full price. I asked how can you charge me full price when you don’t have a full table of food? He ended up giving me lunch prices. When I asked how come they don’t cook items and replenish when there is still an hour and a half left till closing, he said that there is still food and they can’t just keep cooking. We told him that is bad for business. We asked what about the other people who kept asking about food as there was at least 3 other people asking, he said there was some food. He also said as he pointed at the customer who came by as we were talking saying that he is there all the time and always eats shrimp so they can’t keep putting it out. Really?
I suggested that for better business he should put up a sign of when something ends so their customers are aware. If something is closing or they stop replenishing food at a certain time, let your customers know.
As we were headed out, customers were coming in and still no food will be replenished. A good business would try to make things right and not have 10+ dishes go empty with more than an hour left before closing. They also wouldn’t ignore their customers or tell them that there is food and they can’t keep cooking. It’s not a buffet if you are limited. We asked for a compliment card and they said no they don’t do that.
We will not return and unless something changes, I do not recommend them either.

This restaurant made my whole family lose it’s appetite! Last Sunday my father in law really wanted buffet, so here we are… One plate in… My sister in law noticed the lady at the sushi bar was eating an apple. Then my husband went to go get some sushi, he comes back to tell me that the lady was taking garbage out and whatnot and did not change her gloves or was her hands. That’s not very sanitary!
My father in law then notices that she went to the hot foods bar, picked up an old green bean from the floor and tossed it back in the hot foods. From what my husband says… That green bean has been on the floor for a long time. Right after one plate in my family just called it quits on eating dinner.
Been to this restaurant plenty of times to know how they run. This place was a go to whenever we didn’t want to make the drive to somewhere far from Gresham. Well…
This is not the place to eat at, it’s unsanitary, there isn’t much of a variety of food, and who knows you could get food poisoning from this place… I wouldn’t doubt it!

We love it here! For the price they have a great selection of seafood. Always the best fish! They have a small sushi/​dessert bar. We come here pretty often & always leave so full we can hardly walk. The price is decent for the amount of food you get. Don’t expect much for service. Besides drinks the whole meal is self service. It’s pretty casual dining.

Food was cold. Not Good variety. Lady sat us, asked for drinks then we didn’t see her again for almost 45min. My drink was empty for at least 30 minutes until I literally walked thru the restaurant, found her and physically gave her my cup and asked for a refill. We then waited another 20 minutes for our ticket. We ended up just walking up front ourselves. the guy cashier didn’t say a word,.and wasn’t friendly. For $ 14 I. doubt ill go back.

We ate there New Years day because they had the dinner all day special. We went for lunch.
(Stop reading here if you dont want TMI)…That evening my 2 year old had the poops like none other. 2 messes in 1.5 hours. Woke up several times for diaper changes over night and continued having loose stool through out the following day. She was a happy being her usual self even though her back end was exploding. My husband got heartburn from it but little girl got cleaned out.
No idea what they did but yikes. Go here if you’ve gotten constipated.
