Generous portions, great teriyaki sauce and sweet chili sauce. The rice and chicken were cooked well. We also ordered a shrimp kebab, since I love seafood. Shrimps were grilled and in my opinion, slightly overcooked, but not too bad. We left feeling pretty full. Overall, the place is quite nice, just wish the people, who worked there, smiled at the customers, when those walk in. One weird thing bout this place is that they have a note on the fountain drinks machine, which says ”1 refill”…wtf?

I have been forced to revise my previous review on this establishment. So today(aug 1st, 2015) we grab some food from here, the older Asian lady running the front was just out of this world rude. When we ordered she tried arguing with us about what we wanted, tried telling us what we wanted. She also refused to give any teriyaki sauce so the food was unflavored and dry… We both ordered the choose 2 combo with pork and chicken with extra rice INSTEAD of salad. Naturally we got extra rice and the salad cause she doesn’t speak English well. But just immagine… Plain dry sticky rice and overcooked dry meat, yuck… While we were waiting on our food she lost 6 customers, should have been a red flag .And that’s not even the worst part, I had 2 strains of hair on the very top of my dish… In plain sight. When this older Asian lady is working there I will not be taking my business to this establishment.

It’s not easy to find an affordable place to grab a heathy lunch at an affordable price with speedy service. Love this place for that!

Have dinner often here. Tonite service was kind of slow as it tends to be in the begging of the month friendly staff and great prices

Food taste like any typical Teriyaki place. Their Udon serving has too much soup and not much noodles. Teriyaki chicken was too sweet.

I must say this is good food. The staff appear friendly but when the owner waved a receipt at the cashier complaining about a low tip it drew my attention as very unprofessional and extremely rude to your current customers in your establishment. I then also looked up the standard in which tipping is used in different locations. For your establishment it is 10%!!! My future visits will be 0% for you made me feel very uncomfortable in your establishment due to your behavior mister owner!!!

I LOVE joy teriyaki. Their teriyaki chicken bowl is DELICIOUS and it’s only $ 5! The wait is usually short, the service is standard and it’s a hip, trendy sort of place. I would give this place a 10⁄10.

Food is great(spicy chicken specifically) and the portions are huge… especially for the price. Great value and friendly staff.

Food is affordable and great. Seems like a whole the wall place, but you will keep coming back. I have been here dozens of times and have found fast and good every time! The bathroom was dirty once but as soon as let them know they cleaned up quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

OMG this is good food, another 5 stars! Seriously, as I was eating the teriyaki chicken and brown rice, I realized that I could eat nothing but food from this restaurant for the rest of my life and be happy. The prices are awesome and the amount of food in one order is easily enough to feed two people.

I give this place five stars not because the food is orgasmic, but because I am amazed that the food here is so much better than any other teriyaki place for the same price range that I have visited in the portland metro area. The staff here are friendly and hardworking. Your food is made in 5 – 7 minutes when you get it to go(in my experience on a Sunday afternoon). The teriyaki sauce actually has flavor here instead of the bland generic«ashtray» flavor I am accustomed to at other places. The quantity is great compared to the price and all in all the place is clean and well lit. I have only tried the spicy chicken so far and am very pleased with it. My only complaint is that they do not offer vegetables with the plates, but an iceberg salad instead which has little nutritional value to it. So I would love it if they would add the option for veggies or a salad. I will be back more and more in 2012.

Spicy Stir Fried Veggies with Tofu and Brown Rice Tofu Fried Rice *Takeout Only — would not recommend dining in I live in the SE close to a lot of great food and having to work in Gresham bums me out due to the lack of good reasonably priced food. Joy is the exception. Hands down best tofu in Portland. It simple and stir fried but totally delicious. The portions are generous and can usually be split between two meals. Also, the salad dressing is amazing. When it comes to ambiance and service this place would get a two, my rating is based strictly on takeout. There now two locations, this one is quicker.
