The breads, cakes and cookies are great! Especially the sponge cakes with cream inside or the coffee & almond bread. So why the two stars? Can’t stand rude service. The two ladies straight up scowl at you while you decide and scream in Chinese… at you or to each other or to the sky… Who knows. I’ve been a couple of times and each time, it’s the same… They keep screaming… O_o

I usually come here for quick breakfast. There are good selections of sweet and savory bread. The window is clean, and the usual morning cashier is friendly, too. My family loves taro cakes here, both fancy red bean taro pudding cake or the plain simple taro cake are good.

This is my favorite place to get cakes for any of my family members birthday ! The cakes that they have in the display are always fresh and great looking ! They have so much of a variety from chocolate to vanilla and even rum! They’re flavors are always on point, not to sweet not to dry, and their fruit on the cakes are always fresh and cut perfectly. What I like most about their fruit cakes is the whipped cream they make, other places for some reason taste like plastic, so gross !! Even the box that they pack the cake in is beautiful and very sturdy ! They also throw in a happy birthday sign, candles and a plastic knife. Their store is always clean, the ladies very helpful, and always have great quality desserts!

Awesome pastries, love that they have a large selection! Better than 85c Bakery. Will definitely be going back!

Walked in and the employee Faye was clipping her nails behind the cake casing. GROSS. Didn’t even bother picking up her head or stopping. I wasn’t the only customer inside as well.

It is always so pleasant to visit Hacienda Heights JJ Bakery. It is actually farther to me than the other locations, but I only come here. Here, I get the personal service I love. The ladies try to get to know me. This is my store. Keep up the good work.

Have been going to this place since I was a kid and wanted to give it a try again today for nostalgic reasons. A lot of the really good items aren’t in stock anymore, but hey it was fine… until the workers who acted like I was getting in the way of their conversation, straight up insulted me in my face assuming I didn’t speak any Chinese??? Jesus Christ. I don’t typically give bad reviews but this was horrendous. What happened here?

I’m a fan of their cakes. It’s never too sweet and the chiffon cakes are always so moist and fluffy. This location has been around since I was a kid and we’ve always ordered cakes from them for all our celebrations. My faves are Black Forrest, vanilla chiffon cake with taro filling, and their tiramisu. The bread’s are awesome too. the savory green onion bun is always satisfying and filling.

I’ve been going to this bakery ever since I was little and although I prefer their cakes to neighboring bakeries, such as 85 degrees, they need a lot of work in the customer service department. I know it’s not uncommon for Asian establishments to have bad customer service due to language barriers, but this particular JJ Bakery takes it to a whole other level. Every time I go, the two ladies that work there are always rushing me into making a decision(and I’m not the type who is slow when deciding what I want). One lady in particular always has a scowl on her face. Although I do speak Chinese, I don’t go out of my way to speak it, and I can literally hear them talk crap about all the customers in there. Sorry JJ Bakery, your cakes are pretty good, but I think I’ll avoid this particular location for a while.

Very good bakery and reasonably priced. And I feel it has better quality & price than 85 degrees. I also like their ice coffee(strong!). They recently started doing boba milk tea. The milk tea is great, however the boba is a bit too soft.

It’s been a while since I gave out 1 star to a store. But JJ Bakery has done it. I went there in the morning to get a box of 9-set mooncake. FAYE, who took my order, her service was horrible. Her tone of voice sounds like I gave her a hard time for ordering just one box of the mooncake. She told me straight out that she is busy to pack for me now, which I totally understand. When she told me the price, i was shocked. Just one box of the 9-set mooncakes cost $ 230. What happened was she misunderstood me saying 9 boxes of the mooncake set. i know that I have to be responsible for confusing her, but she gave me an attitude and tear the invoice right in front of me. Are you f***ing serious on that? I totally don’t understand why is the owner still keeping her at the store. As long as she is still working at JJ Bakery, there’s no way I am gong back.

I am certifiably 100% Asian: born in Taiwan, love stinky tofu, speak Chinese, traveled 9 asian countries, would be an Olympian if haggling were a sport. But I HATE this place and all I’ve had from here. The ingredients just don’t come together into anything worth eating. Case in point — The diagonally cut ham and egg sandwich from JJ Bakery(pictured). While both this sandwich and the USDA Food Pyramid are both triangles, they are completely different. One triangle encourages you to eat carbs in moderation. The other contains more white bread than a trailer home, plus a micro slice of ham and American cheese(worst cheese ever). So it’s really just 3 slices of crap bread — imagine if Burger King sold you a Big Mac but left out all the meat and veggies. Yeah, I’d toss it out and throw a tantrum too. Second case in point — The pork sung(appetizing name, right?) roll(pictured). Who on earth had the bright idea of slathering a sweet roll with a thick coating of mayonnaise before rolling it in dried pork shavings? Then the roll sits on the bakery shelf for hours without refrigeration! YUCK. I know that lots of other Asians love this place. They must have been infected by the brain clogging mad cow disease… Don’t do it. Run far, far away.

I decided to try this bakery because prices at ninis bakery have gone super high! I actually believe I like this one a lot better. The prices of their cakes are really reasonable and they taste amazing! I surprised my boyfriend with his bday cake from here as well as I got my coworkers a little Thursday treat. Their sweets are really good. If in the area make sure to give them a try.

As stated by the other patrons, this location offers terrible service. I also encountered the two women who were busy talking to each other, they have no idea what a common courtesy is. I almost felt as if I was invading their space. At an average $ 2 per piece you are better off buying from another bakery, seriously not worth it. I once was a fan and now I’m done.

Awful service. Rude customer service. Despite that I like their cakes and bread those ladies behind the counter has pushed me to go buy elsewhere. Please teach them some manners

The Chinese lady Staff called Cathy is so rude and bitchy. She seems doesn’t really like I only bought 1 piece of cake and 1 pack of cookie. Please hire some staff who will say thank you and be polite if you want to keep this business grow. There has many bakery shop the area. And, there has one at the corner beside Vons is far better than you guys! Definitely won’t come back again even it’s free!!!

The lady there was extremely rude! She had a really bad attitude and she seem annoyed helping us. We were buying a lot of small cakes so we were looking at what we wanted. She kept asking us, «YOUWANTMOREEEE???» We had to keep telling her that we weren’t done. This is the first and last time we will be coming here. There’s other bakeries where you can get better service and amazing cakes. Just avoid this place.

Came by here last night at 7:30 pm(half an hour before closing) and we were pretty much the only ones in the bakery. I picked up a birthday cake for my mother’s birthday dinner for today(Vanilla Chiffon Taro Cake $ 24) and also decided to pick up a few baked goods for some of the awesome people at my work place My family and I tried the cake today and it was pretty good. If you like taro, then this is the cake for you. The purple whip cream is nice and light and really complements the soft, moist and tender crumb of the cake. The filling has a real strong flavor of real taro and really all went perfectly in my mouth in the 1st bite. This cake is definitively a great price and can serve at least 8 people easily. As for the other baked goods I picked up(Frosted Almond Danish $ 1.55, Pineapple Bun Pudding $ 1.35, Red Bean Custard $ 1.35, Pineapple Bread $ 1, Sponge Cake $ 1.25), I only got a chance to try the Frosted Almond Danish. The danish itself is actually a croissant with flaky and melt in your mouth texture. The filling had a nice and not too sweet almond taste. From what the other people had said about the baked goods I brought in, it was all positive and nice ask that I come back to this bakery and bring them some more next weekend(oh no, what have I started?). JJ Bakery never disappoints(I frequent the one in Arcadia more often) and there is a reason why people are willing to wait in line to buy delicious baked goods from this place(go towards closing and you can avoid waiting in line, but there is no guarantee that you will have the best picks though, but I still was able to score a wonderful cake for my mom and I had more than a handful of cakes to choose from). By the way, this bakery is located in the same plaza as 2011 Noodle House & Quickly. Parking wasn’t a problem for me. Oh and this bakery does accept credit card(but since my total was over $ 30, I am not sure if there is a minimum transaction to pay by credit card).
