STAYAWAYFROMTHISSPOT! !! Decided to check this place out based in the Unilocal reviews. We were just looking for some decent take out. The rudest most disrespectful, place I’ve ever been to! This lady’s attitude toward us does not have words. She was even too busy to acknowledge us and we’re literally standing right INFRONTOFHER! Every time(5+) we literally opened our mouth to order she said«I’m too busy». After she helped everyone who came in after us, she proceeded to take phone orders! !!! Right there 2 feet from us. We were standing right there by her phone, counter, calculator, and register. … we waited a good 10+ minutes and all she kept saying whenever we tried to ask to order is «it’s Chinese food, you know». The customer service was awful. Her attitude is awful. The fact that there is only one person running the whole operation as an excuse is pathetic. Their chow Mein looked tasty, but all I have is a bitter taste for this place. ZEROSTARS!

Okay, don’t order when you’re hungry. I’ll start that with that, but that’s just a personal tip. Although this place was pretty good, I expected a cheaper price, given, well, the single $ on Unilocal.I ordered without really thinking and when I paid(for takeout, mind you) I was a little surprised with how much it was. I read on these reviews that the place has very rude staff. I went in for takeout, ordered, left and came back for my order, and didn’t get any of it. Nothing exciting, but no one was rude. May be with Dine In, but won’t know, not looking to go back. I expect fairer prices for«mom and pop» labels. I live too far from this place now to make the drive for average over priced Chinese food. The food was average. I ordered House Noodles, Fried House Rice, Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce, and Kung Pao Chicken. Tasted all like any other mom and pop place. Nothing outstanding. To be fair, I wouldn’t turn this place down if I was in town again and someone else suggested it.

I think Pauline’s Chinese Kitchen is a good one. The chicken dishes r good. The noodle dishes r good. The beef soups r good. There are also different kinds of soups too.

This place is unpredictable sometimes it’s good enough and other times it’s bad. The shrimp always varies in sizes, sometimes it’s cooked well and other times it’s hard. The egg sometimes it’s fluffy and other times is shriveled and cold. I feel we’ve been given the bottom of the pan on our to go orders many times and just because it’s closing time does not make it right! No matter how hard we try to be polite they’re are not. They also have a language barrier.

The food here is great but they are definitely rude here. Really bad customer service, they really should hire and extra hand that knows how to keep customers satisfied, wait time on the food is ridiculously long when it’s not even a busy time. The food is great but I would only come back if I was really craving for something from here other then that i would pass this place up.

If you want good service then do take out only as dining here will frustrate you eventually. When I was in my teens during the late 90s Pauline’s Kitchen was the go to place for my family. The original owner took care of us through good food and good service. It was with heavy heart when she told us her plan to leave the business. We try the new place under new ownership, it just didn’t cut it. Years past and we heard that there was yet again new ownership who turned things around. I try some take out and tried the Shanghai Rice Cake(first trip), Kung Pao Chicken(2nd), MuShu(3rd); all amazing in terms of taste. It became my routine to come here for take out after work. Parents came along for family night and we bumped into some old family friends. Got ourselves a table for eight. Had to sit in the big dining room. They had a buy four and get one free. However the lady logic is buy five and get one of the dishes free. Yes these are the same thing but it’s like one person insisting a certain way of saying potato. Or when I pay 2.15 for a 1.65 can of soda, she would ask me why would I pay 2.15 rather than two dollars; hint so I can get two quarters. We got ten dishes(and two of them are free). Done in Kao Pao still amazing. Parents approve. Salted fried fish, spare ribs, beansprouts, egg drop soup, eggplant with glass noodle, MuShu, two other dishes I didn’t care for due to personal preference for but my parents and our friends would praise. The $ 24 roasted duck, ouch it was very dry. But hey 9⁄10 is still an A– but this is an Asian F in my family friends eyes. They complaint to the lady. Lady refused to acknowledge it, I didn’t care personally. Eventually lady conceded but told us that they had to charge us for use of the big room. Cue Chinese mumbo jumbo of negotiating. In the end we got the roasted duck off the bill and not charged for the big room and still got two dishes free. Pretty epic on part of my family friend and her sister. But going to keep this as a take out spot only as crazy Chinese logic frustrate me.

When this business just started, My husband and I went there pretty frequently but recently we noticed the owner became quite impolite. We did not deserve the type of service so we stopped going there since.

This is my new go to place for quick and inexpensive meal. It’s a small restaurant with friendly service and a decent menu. They have a good selection of dim sum, chow mien, fried rice, and others.

Cheap, fast, doesn’t taste like fast food. Great for take out. I like how they include sides of white rice without me having to ask. It’s also on the greasy side at times but it still seems tastier and the ingredients are fresher than other Chinese take out joints.

For days I craved shrimp fried rice so what do I do I call my go to place for the stuff. They were closed! I even tried calling back 4 times just in case they didn’t hear the phone(false hopes) I wiped the tears away, looked up and saw Pauline’s Chinese kitchen. Unilocaled them and saw a decent pic of fried rice. Ok let’s give them a whirl. I’m sorry Pauline but I think you may need a new cook in your kitchen. We ordered hot and sour soup, chicken chow main and shrimp fried rice. The soup was no bueno and cold! The rice was mushy and a very dark brown unappealing color and the shrimp looked like it came from a freezer bag. Not what I was hoping for by far. The chow main on the other hand was pretty tasty. I hate to give a negative review but please remember this is just my opinion you may love what Pauline has cooking up. Next time I will beware and read the signs and hang on for another day to enjoy my neighborhood fav. Sorry Pauline :/

For a casual business lunch meeting, Pauline’s Chinese Kitchen does the job just fine. If you want to impress a client, you might not want to bring them here as there is zero ambiance and the restaurant is literally a hole in the wall. We were a group of seven and seated in a single private room. I didn’t order any dishes since my boss’ colleagues ordered for us, so I don’t recall every dish we had or the names. What did stand out for me in particular were two entrees: a shrimp with egg dish, and a spicy beef dish. Overall, most of the plates consisted of mediocre Chinese food and I probably wouldn’t go back unless I have to.

I’ve been here many times and am convinced that this local business’s only attribute is its location close to home. This review is based on my most recent visit. We ordered according to the buy 3 get 1 dish free dinner special. Note that this only applies from #1−130 something on the menu. The cooks added way too much salt to the Sour & Spicy Soup(suan la tang) and there was no spice. It may as well be called Sour & Salty Soup. I typically think the Orange Chicken(chen pi ji) is pretty decent and get it every time. They cook with actual orange peels, though it’s quite horrifying to accidentally bite into one of them. Why am I then not recommending this dish? I began finding bones in the chicken. The server often forgets orders and sometimes is nowhere to be found. She also seems to be very short tempered and rude. Not a place worth coming out of your way for.

My Mom likes this place, and it is solid good food with lots of dishes to choose from clearly marked sections in the menu for chicken, beef, pork, seafood, vegetables. There are lots of tables and seating and even a private room for small-medium parties. It is located in a good, central location right on Halliburton with easy access. Prices are not bad and they give you plenty to feed your family.

Good down home flavors. It’s a little bit on the expensive side for Chinese food, but it’s tasty. Atmosphere is a big weak, but again, it’s a Chinese restaurant. They have a buy 4 get one free special at dinner and a buy 3 get one free at lunchtime.

Um, probably not the best choices around. Came here only because of lunch specials. Expect the quality to be equivalent to what you pay for. There is only one waitress for the small restaurant(though its small, orders do add up), which may really slow service down. However, the waitress was very nice and accomodating. For example, our braised eggplant dish came out cold. and we asked to have a hot dish. Why was it cold in the first place? Anyway, I’ve presented the facts, come at your own discretion.

The lunch menu is made up of 3 categories: $ 4.99/5.99/$ 6.99 dishes. Some of these dishes as straight up Panda Express, others are more homestyle. See my pics. Of the traditional dishes, they have quite a few tofu(skin, etc.) dishes to choose from. The sliced tofu braised dish is good. The fried fish croquettes with dill batter are also good. We’ve been here twice in recent weeks so I need a break, but it’s a reliable cheap restaurant in this part of town with room for groups of 8 – 10. The décor is very functional. There’s a TV if you like that in your dining room.

Just have to give props to places, especially restaurants, who caters to your wishes. My son is very picky when it comes to vegetables touching his rice or noodles. I ordered their beef chow mein noodles no veges and they did great in making my hungry 6yr old smile.
