Actually I think Robek’s has the best. Their Acai is more of an ice cream/sherbert texture than a smoothie texture… less calories, more fruit and granola! Best bowl that I’ve had yet!

By far, my favorite post-Waimea tradition is throwing on a towel and kickin’ back with a kava roots acai bowl, breeze blowing through the shop, sun shining, cool jamz in the background. All the makings of a perfect day! The bowls are huuuuuuge and come with tons of granola. I haven’t been in a while, but they also sell little trinkets stuff for tourists which is cool. I’ve heard of their open mic or jam sessions but have never attended. All in all, a cool spot. I’ll keep going back as long as they’re around!

I’ve been to several places on the island for acai bowls, but I’ve yet to find one that beats Kava Roots for best value! The sizable portions are served in real BOWLS — as opposed to other places that call them acai bowls but serve them in cups. I ordered my acai bowl with extra granola, and when I got it, it was basically have acai blend and half granola in the bowl! Not sure I needed to order the«extra», since it came with so much to begin with! I had also ordered my blend with soy milk, instead of juice, and they were happy to accommodate my request. The fruit was fresh too, which is always a good thing! Parking is hard to find. I’ve seen others park at a nearby establishment’s parking lot, but my conscience got the best of me, and I parked at a nearby beach’s lot and walked half a block up. No problem. I need the exercise anyway, after that HUGE bowl of acai and granola! :-)

walked from waimeas to kava roots. it’s right by foodland, so the walk wasn’t too bad. got to see some surfers at three tables. i usually have to split their acai bowls with one of my friends because it’s SOBIG… i love it with extra granola. but i also like adding strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. the acai isn’t as purple as the one given by jamba juice, but the taste is all still there. it’s a light, refreshing treat after going to the beach. ooooh, and ask for extra honey :) it’s about $ 8 for a bowl… but trust me, it’s well worth it.

If you’re on the Northshore, this is the place to go for Acai bowls. I’ve tried a lot of different Acai bowls from all over the island and so far, this is my favorite!
