Delicious fresh burgers, cheese fries and my god the shakes are amazing. Service is very nice. Located in a small plaza by Hamden Plaza.

It’s pretty much what you would expect… better than the big fast food chains but not as good as Five Guys or Shake Shack and definitely can’t hold a candle to places like Plan B. Both times I’ve been there it doesn’t appear busy yet seems to take more time than you’d expect for the food. They appear to do a decent amount of call ahead and delivery now(via Silver Spoon) which I think slows things down a bit if you are actually ordering in the restaurant. The burgers are tasty but given the patties are very thin and quite well-done, I’m pretty positive the bulk of the flavor comes from the fat and the cheese. The shakes are far better than average. So if you are in the mood for a greasy but tasty burger and a shake, have some time on your hands, and there isn’t a Five Guys close to you, give it a try.

Well ordered food but the kid was too busy showing a girl something on his tablet or phone before starting it. Food is great. But honestly mostly kids work here. Can’t expect too much.

These must be franchises and this manager is unfriendly. Workers in back kind and accommodating. Stratford is a superb location and the reason why I’d go to a Jake’s — this location I’m not so sure I’d return. It is clean though and has plenty of seating. Ordering my veggie burger was easy. Thank you. But ordering a burger for my pooch — the manager says there is no way to put a patty order in the system. Um, you are standing right next to the men making it. Why is a plain patty difficult? Again, workers in back are kind, humble and accommodating. New to my last visit are a ton of shakes. That’s a nice touch. The Plus of Jake’s over Five Guys is the fact they even have a veggie burger. Thank you. When I went back to order my yearly Coke guy in the back rang me up and is super friendly. They have Pepsi line and not Coke products.

Food is ok, prices are high for what you get, and they seem to lose quality each time I visit. Sad to say this visit was my last for that reason.

Went to the one in Cheshire, nothing special, not worth the cost, slow, I did enjoy the milkshake they have several flavors, beer on tap was a unique feature.

The burgers and fries are very good. I havent tried the shakes but they look good. Much better than a typical fast food restaurant. Everything is made to order right when you place it. The seating area is clean and the people were nice. The only problem was the wait. It was crowded and not many places to sit.

No complaints about the food. Everything is made to order and made quickly. It can get pricey, but I’ve never had a bad burger from this place. The fries are always good but from time to time will be over salted.

Very average burger place. Service is pretty quick, and the place is clean and usually quiet. The shakes here are probably my favorite, the black&white is delicious. They bring the food to your table after you order which is cool. They have gotten my order wrong a few times(Ordering grilled chicken and getting fried chicken, forgetting tomato) but overall the food and general experience is what you would expect. Decently cheap for a better fast food joint, kinda like a step down from shake shack and 5 guys but a step up from Wendy’s in terms of the aura of the place and the quality of food etc.

This place is awful. The owner is a complete jerk.

Typical burger joint. What I do like about it is that the burgers are made in front of you. The fries are good. What I didn’t like about it was I got a Ruben burger it was awful, other than that — pretty good.

I came here with my 12 year old sister to eat dinner on a Wednesday. This place had a promotion that said kids under 12 eat free. The cashier had the audacity to tell me that my sister wasn’t 12, essentially asking to see her papers. Won’t be coming here again. Btw the burger was meh.

Cheap burgers, good topping, but keep your eye on the cooks… One girl kept leaning on the burgers so much that the cheese was sticking to her shirt.

The burger was very bland, no caramelization ok on the burgers equals no flavor. Fries are the worst in it class, five guys are the best in this class. If you like ketchup with your fries, bring your own as I have no idea what is in these squeeze bottles.

I’ve had Wayback a few times and it’s a solid burger spot if you’re looking for something a grade or two above the typical fast food joint. The burger and shake of the month feature is a nice touch, but I’ve never really felt inclined to take the risk and order one. Quite honestly, if you’re looking for a burger of similar quality i would just go with Five Guys or Shake Shack. Wayback is more or less the same price with slightly smaller portions and just not as good in my opinion. It all comes down to preference though. I have friends who think Wayback is better than 5 Guys, so give it a shot and see if you like it. At the end of the day a burger is still a burger.

Great burgers and shakes. This is one of my favorite burgers. It’s right up there with Shake shack, Prime 16, and Five guys. It’s not much for atmosphere and really just feels like a fast food joint. They bring your food out to you at your table as opposed to just calling you up to the counter(even if you’re getting take out), which is a nice touch.

Probably the best fast food burger I’ve ever had. Went on a whim and was very pleasantly surprised. Staff was very helpful and eager to answer any questions. Definitely on the greasy side, but really tasty.

Pretty good place for a quick burger. I like it better than Five Guys. They have a burger and shake of the month to help keep things interesting. I had the mustang burger and it was good. It had bacon and barbecue sauce. It’s good for a quick lunch during the work week but not quite foodie grade.

This is a good choice for a quick local burger. Faster than the local«chains» like TGIF and Chilis with about the same quality but a little cheaper. I agree with Rich H on the proportion size vs value but maybe we are so spoiled by Glenwood and 5Guys that we just think we should be getting more. With the local competition, I hope that they are able to maintain enough business at this spot to stay open. The one thing that does set them apart are the milkshakes. Everyone I know who has had one loves them.
