I’ve been holding off on writing a review because I really like the concept and I think the chef and his wife are just delightful people however, the meal I had on my birthday left much to be desired. Everyone in my party ordered an appetizer and entrée however they ran out of entrees so not everyone in my party was able to get dinner. I made a reservation for 7 ahead of time knowing the nature of their«pop-up» concept was so was a bit bummed and embarrassed that not everyone in my party received a meal. Everyone was a good sport and the Chef gave us free dessert for the blunder. On to the food, everything that I ordered was just meh, nothing special and that really disappointed me as I had high expectations. I had the ribs as an entrée and not only were they bland but they were extremely tough as well. I wasn’t able to finish more than one bite as I had difficulty swallowing. On a positive note the other appetizer and entrée offered on the menu that evening were a huge hit with everyone in my party. I will return, it is my hope that my experience was an isolated incident. I will update my review at that time.

We ate here a few Sunday’s ago, and have been hankering to go back every Sunday since. His menu is different each Sunday, so as to not miss out, we ordered everything on the menu and were unable to escape without ordering an additional Soba Bowl for later. EVERY dish on the menu uniquely delicious and beautifully presented. If you get particularly lucky, he’ll have made his divine lavender gelato!!! Thank you for sharing your magnificent palette with Newport News, Chef!!!

I’m a huge fan of pop up shops, and I’ve been wanting to try Le Mu Eats for a while after seeing it on Unilocal. My two girlfriends and I came by today to finally try it out, and it lived up to the hype. Their menu is creative with great flavors. I actually got an appetizer, main entrée, and a dessert, that’s how good everything sounded. Our waitress was super sweet and friendly. I started with the tomato tartare with basil gelato, fried wonton chips and roasted rice. It was had more of a kick then I thought it would. The basil gelato and tomatoes went well together. It was sweet and a little spicy all at the same time . For my main entrée, I went with the sweet chili pan seared salmon, forbidden rice risotto, and bok choy. I never ever get salmon as an entrée because my parents use to cook it so much, but it sounded so interesting, I had to try it. They give you a very generous, thick portion of salmon. The skin was cooked perfectly crispy and had a very nice sear to it. It was on top of a bed of purple rice. The flavors again worked well together. The rice alone was a little spicy, but with the salmon it blended well together. I love bok choy, so it could have just been steamed and I would have liked it. For dessert, I got the thai coffee cheesecake. It was just okay, it didn’t have a great thai coffee flavor to it, but it was still a decent cheesecake. Food came out pretty slowly, but it was worth the wait. They also serve water with metal straws, I don’t know how I feel about that. But overall, it was a great experience. The food was delicious and had some awesome creative Asian flavors. I would definitely be back since I heard it’s a changing menu every week! I also saw a bunch of people order take out as well.

Food is so amazing. Every time I have tried the food here it has been better than the last time. You will not find a place like this anywhere else. The chef has such a creative palate and knows how to put ingredients together to have your tastes buds wanting more. The servers are nice, friendly and more than accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

The food is absolutely delicious! Every dish looks like it could be on TV or in a magazine. My wife and I love it! We like that the menu and foods are so unpredictable. It’s a special treat of asian, southern, french fusion. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of food is better than most of the well known restaurants in Williamsburg and Virginia Beach that would cost upwards of $ 100 for 2 people. I wish it was open on more days and in Newport News.

For Lé Mu, the menu is small, but the plan is for it to change every week. And even though it is small, the chef has managed to accommodate a multiple of dietary needs, including dairy free, and vegetarian. We went with a small group of friends, and between the five of us, we ordered everything on the menu. And every dish was absolutely delicious. The night we went, there were two appetizers on the menu: waffle breaded chicken tenders with a maple-sriracha glaze & green mango slaw, and green mango, beet & radish carpaccio with watercress & a lime & Thai basil vinaigrette. Everyone else ordered the chicken tenders, but since I knew I was going to get dessert, I wanted to make at least one healthy choice, and I’m so glad I did. I LOVED the carpaccio. It was absolutely delicious. It tasted light & fresh, and was the perfect start to my meal. Everyone else was incredibly pleased with the chicken tenders. I had a bite of my husband’s, and they were so good. The chicken was moist, the amount of breading was perfect, and the flavor was awesome. They were sweet, with a slow building heat. A bite of the chicken, with a little bit of the slaw, was absolutely perfect. For our entrees, most of us went with the grits(green curry grits, caramelized galanga braised pork belly & watercress). Holy crap, this was amazing! I typically stick to goat cheese grits, so the curry was a nice surprise. The star of this was the pork belly. The pork belly had amazing flavor, and was so incredibly tender. I was starting to get full before I had finished this(and I still planned on getting dessert), so I left some of the grits behind, but the pork belly disappeared quickly. My husband went with the vegetarian option: the vegetarian bahn mi, which was grilled Portobello, sweet potato pâté, and pickled mango, radish & carrots. It was served with house made beet & sweet potato chips, and it was so, so good. This version was hearty, filling and delicious. The grilled mushrooms gave it a wonderful smoky flavor, and all of the flavors just worked really well together. As good as the pork belly grits were, my husband actually said he liked this sandwich better. And don’t even get me started on how good the chips were. There were two options for dessert: a salted charred corn crème brulee(made with coconut milk, so it was dairy free) and & peanut butter masaman curry glazed doughnuts with coconut crème. These doughnuts were so, so, so good. The doughnuts themselves were deep-fried balls of deliciousness, but the curry took it to a whole new level. The curry was a really strong flavor, the coconut crème was much more mellow, and when you got a bite of doughnut with both, it just knocked your socks off. If you’re in the Hampton Roads area, you HAVE to check them out. The food is top notch, the service was excellent, the portion sizes are generous and the prices are great(we had two sodas, two appetizers, two entrees, and a dessert for about $ 50). The amazing food is all the reason you need, but if you need additional encouragement, it’s so important to get out & support local businesses.
