A $ 6 taco with some shredded cabbage and extremely fishy(old) fish… It was terrible. Our group threw away the food– without asking for our money back– as the staff was rude and entitled and at least we know better the next trip to Hana. Next door to this bad choice is a plethora of amazing food! Skip this place and save yourselves a waste of money. I hope the burro surfs better than the cook and cook.

Best burrito I’ve had in almost 3 years of living on Maui. Got the vegetarian and you’d never miss the meat — so flavorful. Plus extra points for coffee ice cubes in the iced coffee! If you’re staying at Travaasa, skip their restaurant and come here. Depending where you’re stating on the resort, it may even be closer!

My wife and I gave this place 5 stars because of the amazing and flavorful fish tacos with the home made corn tortillas, the Spanish rice was the bomb. Along with that my wife had the pulled pork quesadilla. She stated that the quesadilla«was the best she ever had.»

I want to give this place a 4, the tacos were quite good(fish and pork tacos), and they make their own tortillas. But the two of us had upset stomachs after eating there, and I am Mr. Iron Gut, so… we’ll say it was an off day; hopefully nothing wrong with the cleanliness. It was the best tasting food I had in Hana.

5 stars for the pulled pork burrito and their green hot sauce. Burritos are filled with rice beans and your choice of meat. Pulled pork was juicy and the burrito just melted in your mouth with each bite. 2 stars for their service. It’s 3 hours before closing time but they’ve already put their menus away. The worker seemed surprised to even see someone order from them(we were the only car there). Even then, their attitude and tone seemed to say they didn’t want our patronage.

This place is located next to the general store. It is a fantastic food truck stop after we made it to Hana. There’s a parking lot shared with a Thai food truck with plenty of spaces. The boyfriend and I tried the kalua pork taco and the fish taco. The tortilla shell had a nice crisp to it and was absolutely delicious. The sauce for the taco had great flavor and the meats were cooked well. Great stop if you’re hungry!

We came to the Surfing Burro not expecting too much from a tourist trap, but even then our food was exceptionally bad. We got a shredded pork burrito and a pork taco. The burrito was poorly wrapped and had zero flavor. You can’t just put canned refried beans and old rice into a cheap flour tortilla and call it Mexican food. It wouldn’t have been so terrible if the meat had any flavor but both the burrito and the taco were bland. I don’t know if breakfast is a different story but for dinner it was awful.

The fish burrito was phenomenal! I forgot I was supposed to share it and ate the whole thing! An excellent choice for lunch.

I was in Hana last week and looking for something to eat(Hana is very remote so not many options in this town) when I came across the Surfin Burro food truck. I had low expectations figuring that if I didn’t get food poisoning then I’d consider this a successful meal. Well my expectations were blown away. I ordered the fish burrito while my wife had a fish taco. The fish taco was pretty good but wow the fish burrito was AMAZING! Spicy, creamy, filled with Mexican rice and fish(I’m guessing Mahi Mahi). This was perhaps the best fish burrito I’ve ever had to date.

If you’re in Maui do yourself a favor and visit Hana. While there you have to eat here. The burritos are out of this world. The food has a lot of heart and flavor and it shows. We had the steak, chorizo, and the fish burritos, they were perfectly cooked, paired with an awesome sauce, and a lot of flavor. Come early on a slow day the chefs have a lot of local knowledge and rad stories. Mahalo for making Hana memorable.

Their breakfast burrito is a revelation and the iced coffee with coffee ice cubes is perfect. Super nice folks too. Well worth the stop. Look for the bright orange food truck.

We were starving! This place seemed like the only thing that was open, but it was delicious. That or we were really hungry or both. Ordered the chicken and chorizo tacos and coffee. Honestly, best coffee we had on the island of Maui so far. Check this place out

Best place to eat in Hana, fresh local and organic when possible, delicious options, love the breakfast burritos. Fish is always super fresh and locally caught. Prices are perfect and kids quesadillas are good.

Perhaps I was starving after a long day on the road to Hana or just incredibly nervous that after the clock struck 6 p.m. in remote Hana on a Wednesday, our options for dinner were quickly disappearing. I was reluctant to pay an arm and a leg to have a pretty average meal at one of the more«fine dining» restaurants in Hana whose only appeal seems to be that they are actually open at dinner time. But lo and behold, we drive past the bright orange truck that is The Surfin’ Burro and THEY’REOPEN! Hallelujah. We got one steak and one fish burrito. Both were delicious and very different. Some kind of chipotle mayo went perfectly with the fish. All very fresh. I’d go back in a heartbeat. The Surfin’ Burro saved my boyfriend and I from a very hangry night. Warning: Cash only.

The Surfin’ Burro is one of the more deluxe restaurants in town, and when I say deluxe, what I really mean is that it is a guy or a gal inside of an orange metal trailer slinging burritos like they’re going out of style. Oh they have a few other things too, but it’s mostly about the burritos which, depending on the preparer, either skew Mexican in flavor or Indian. I don’t even know if the Indian thing is intentional, but it works. Only problem? Funky hours, but that’s the drill everywhere in Hana…

An absolute must if you’re passing through Hana! My friends and I came here for breakfast and we were so glad we did. We ate our burritos in less than 5 minutes, that’s how delicious it was! Everything is freshly made, even the salsa. I had the chorizo burrito while my friends opted for the breakfast burrito. Both were so tasty! I can honestly say it was one of the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot since I live in southern California. We’ve got our fair share of mexican food and food trucks. To top it off, the owner was very friendly. If I’m ever back in Hana, I will surely be back!
