I went here for a birthday dinner and didn’t have any expectations for a small town place. I was truly shocked at the quality of the sushi here. We all did the 16 piece Omakase at the sushi bar w/Yasu and it was awesome! One of the best sushi experiences I’ve ever had. Omakase is a great way to explore new sushi and we were not disappointed. Even fishes I’ve previously had and were not a huge fan of(ie mackerel) tasted incredible. There honestly wasn’t a bad piece in the whole meal! Can’t wait to go back.

Yes, there is delicious sushi in New York City. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get amazing sushi outside city borders! Azuma has to be the best sushi in Westchester. I’ve been here twice and I really like that it’s legit Japanese owned/managed. They get high quality fish and you really get that authentic feel. What I get excited most about it uni, and this place definitely does not disappoint. Both times I’ve been here they have had some of the most delicious uni I’ve ever had. Fresh, tasty, just the perfect bite. I can never have just one, so it’s a good thing the prices here are very reasonable! The rest of the sushi is also notable, with their sushi rice being the perfect texture and size. We usually ask them to bring out whatever fish is freshest and have been happy with the assortment of their choosing. Worth the trip! If you’re not sure what to order, just ask the owner as he is super personable and knowledgeable.

Always incredible sushi and always incredible service. We have been coming here for at least 10 years and the quality has never changed it’s always been impeccable. Probably one of the best sushi restaurants in the entire New York metro area.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in this area! One of those places that let’s the food stand on it’s own… fresh and delicious! NOT like any other sushi place you’ve been to around here.

Had Omakase Sushi $50@ the counter 16 pieces plus 1 roll, very good ! If you do not know what to order Omakase is the best, which is up to the Chef … But also if you want to sit at the counter, it’s Omakase menu …

Wow this was incredibly good sushi, but make a reservation! We visited on Friday night and fortunately they were able to find us a table in 30 mins. We returned with appetites whet and were not disappointed. The menu is small and simple. If the sushi chef is good then I’m a big fan of Omakase; a lucky dip of sushi! The plate that came out for $ 35 was exceptional — a good selection of favorites and new flavors. I’ve had a lot of good sushi, but this was great! My wife had the Azuma Special Box which was a smörgåsbord of delicious and traditional Japanese food. Green tea ice cream to finish was superb. Service was prompt and friendly. Drinks were well priced and we will definitely be back. For the Omakase Chef’s Finest which is only served at the bar.

Our family had lunch. The owner welcomed us. We were immediately seated. The deluxe Chirashi was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. The décor was simple. I can’t wait to come back!

I had almost every kind of fish in the menu. The fish is very fresh and cut very well. The rice had the perfect texture and tasted really good. In my opinion this is a real sushi restaurant and not some cheap place that serves rolls dripping with mayonnaise and other crappy sauces. The staff is super nice and never too far to help out. Parking can be difficult as there are only metered spots close by. But this place is worth it for the quality of the food. If you like sushi the way it is meant to be, you’ll like this place.

My girlfriend wanted to try this place since ever. And we finally decided to go during New Year’s Eve, thinking we’ll end the year with some good sushi(we got the 10 piece omakase). All I gotta say is that the rice was shit and it ruined everything. WAYTOOMUSHY. A sushi place that doesn’t know how to make rice is just completely sad. The fish was just okay — it was just a piece of fish on top(not seasoned or brushed with soy sauce). It would’ve been okay if the rice was good, but all I tasted was the soft texture of the rice. I was so disappointed… and it’s Japanese owned… OHYEAH. my girlfriend just removed the fish and left the rice on the side. That’s when you know it’s just THATBAD. Two stars for the fish being okay, the tea, and sake. Note: JUSTGOTONYCFORGOODSUSHI

Itsumo oishi desu! Always delicious, always fresh, always authentic. Pricey, but I guess that is part of being authentic.

If you like traditional, super-fresh, well cut sushi, Azuma is one of the best places in Westchester. If you want huge pieces of inferior fish, or fancy rolls glopped with special sauce, go elsewhere. We go to Azuma frequently, as I am really picky about the quality of any raw fish I eat. The quality here is consistent and excellent. Depending on who is serving, there can be a bit of a language barrier, but nothing insurmountable. Service is quite accommodating. There are always many Japanese diners here, which is a good sign. I especially enjoy the Matsu omakase selection, which has 12 pieces of the best fish of the day and a roll. Half of the pieces are specially garnished for eating without soy sauce. Delicious! It is a treat watching the skilled chefs at work at the sushi bar. Highly recommended for those who appreciate what sushi is supposed to be, before it became trendy and prepared at every supermarket counter and pan-Asian restaurant by poorly trained chefs.

I enjoyed the food but I’m not sure if I’l be back. I gave it 4 stars not because of the service and food but for the décor. I felt like I was in an episode of Three’s Company. In addition to the décor, the restaurant was soooo quite. There were few tables but the atmosphere was dead. I don’t personally like loud places but it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. And it was pricey! Here’s the good part. Fresh fish and service was excellent. I was kind of surprised some people mentioned the staff was rude. They were very courteous and made us feel welcomed from the minute we stepped into the restaurant until we were leaving.

Not the friendliest Sushi place we have visited in Westchester. Maybe we are spoiled by living in Dobbs Ferry and having Sushi Mikes so close but we figured we would explore a little. My husband wanted to turn around the minute we walked in as the staff seemed almost annoyed we had entered, albeit the only ones at the time. He ordered chirashi and basically paid for an overpriced bowl of rice with mediocre sushi. Décor boring. Not a lot of variety. Save your money for a better offering.

The area around the Hartsdale train station has alot of restaurants but most are average if you ask me. You got the Indian place that serves reheated dishes, the mediocre pizzeria with subpar entrees and salads, the generic and boring Mexican place, and the juice bar with the broken juicer(yep, it’s true). Until today, it seemed that Starbucks was my best lunch option. How the hell is that possible? Today I stumbled across Azuma. Even though I must have passed it a million times I never even noticed the place. Maybe its because its situatied somewhat anonymously between an art gallery and credit union, or perhaps its the dark sign in black and gold? Regardless, it never registered as a place to try. As for the food, the sushi was dynamite! The tuna was buttery smooth, and they even have fish direct from Japan which was stellar. Preparation and presentation was top notch. Very solid skills. I also want to mention the excellent atmosphere. This place seems like its a bit old school, the kind of spot where you could go for a intimate date or even a business lunch and feel like you’re in your own world. Or if you prefer, sit right at the bar and watch the guys do their stuff. I loved Azuma and look forward to checking out some more of their sushi in the future.

I’ve been coming to Azuma for 10 years. Tony the owner is always accommodating. They have a small menu and everything is super fresh. This is a more traditional sushi place. Rolls are bite size as they should be. Hand rolls are traditional as well. My usual is salad w ginger dressing, soft shell shrimp or crab appetizer, shumai and 2 spicy tuna rolls. They put sesame seeds on the outside of the rolls! Yum! I won’t eat sushi anywhere else!

Wow. By far the most overrated place I’ve been to in the area. The mgr/owner is so rude he ruins the night before you sit down. We tried to get past it but then the sushi was so average we were sorry we stayed. Sure, it’s also the most expensive sushi in Westchester — which I would be absolutely fine with if the place wasn’t so far below average and the service so horrible. I would have given zero stars but it’s not possible. ;-) Will NOT return.

Now I know why this place is the best sushi restaurant in Westchester County. The omakase is such a great deal. In the city you are bound to pay over $ 100 for an omakase sushi dinner; here it’s like $ 40 for the most expensive one. SAYWHAT? And the sushi is legit. They have your standards, but then they have their special sushi pieces, so it sorta reminds me of Sushi of Gari when they add a little bit of flair to the sushi. Complimentary hot green tea too, and they give you a hot towel right when you sit down. The place is small, and it does seem to get busy quite quickly especially during prime time. Do yourself a favor and splurge on the Omakase.
