Just ordered take out for the first time(and last). It took almost two hours and the salmon hibachi was not edible. Definitely old(very fishy smell) and just tasted awful. Don’t waste your time ordering from here — wish I knew before we ordered

We came here for sushi, and the fish was really fresh. Great service, too. We will definitely be back!

This place is a little cheaper than other local sushi places; and, you get what you pay for. As far as Westchester places go, this was ho-hum. Miso soup was fine. I ordered the sushi platter. $ 19.00. None of the selected sushi pieces stood out. It was acceptable, but not the Westchester ‘standard’ you get with the places downtown White Plains and Mamaroneck. Our waiter disappeared after he brought the food. Hello, I’d like to take the leftovers home, and I’d like the check. We waited and waited. Our first/last visit.

Amazing food! Every time my significant other and i are hungry, we order from here. Of course it’s a little expensive, but when you’ve tried this food, it’s worth it!!!

Favorite sushi restaurant in Westchester. Me, my friends, and family go there often and they give us complementary crab rangoons. They just renovated the place so it looks more fusion and added more hip items to the menu. Usually that doesn’t look to good for restaurants considering it seemed more authentic before, but everything was consistently amazing. Reasonable prices for sushi, great lunch specials, great atmosphere, and great service. It does get busy, and that can be reflected in the service sometimes, but what can you expect.

I was here on Monday with a friend and we both liked our meals(she had pork katsu and I had the chicken katsu don). The chicken katsu don was very good, although I wish it had been crunchier. Generous portions, too. We ended the meal with the red bean tempura fried ice cream(Amazing!) and the banana tempura. I recommend both highly. The service was underwhelming but not bad. I will definitely be returning to this place for what I’m sure will be another delicious meal.

This place was always good for a quick lunch special, but aesthetically it was a real hole in the wall. Since they have renovated, the sushi is still super fresh and now the décor matches the great food! Will definitely come back for the excellent lunch specials.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Super friendly staff, clean, wonderful service and of course the food… Food was great, came quickly and was beautifully plated. Is it kid-friendly you ask? Absolutely! My 4 year old came home and was still talking about the amazing waitresses and asking when we were going back! Looking forward to another meal here for sure!

I’m impressed with the makeover. What was an old, dark, run down Japanese restaurant with decent sushi has become much more inviting. My wife and I hit it up for a casual sushi dinner on Saturday night — wanting to check out the new Tsuru. We were impressed. The restaurant is a whole lot trendier(design wise) and the quality of the sushi is at least as good as it used to be — probably better. We each had creative rolls and didn’t leave dissatisfied. Oh, and we shared some sort of pistachio gelato dessert — which was delicious as well. Service was friendly and efficient. I’m glad they redid this place as we’ll be back often. PS — I will agree that the two person booths along the walls may be a little tight for most people.

Wow wow! It’s hard to find quality sushi. This place has AMAZING sushi! The menu is innovative and reasonably priced. The portions are large and the food is of great quality! We ordered from this place twice within one day! Absolutely delicious! Pepper tuna roll, spicy tuna roll, and Alaskan Beauty Roll are winners!

To echo John B., what happened to the old Tsuru? I’ve come to this restaurant often and found that it had recently reopened as an oyster bar – a bit confusing! The entire restaurant underwent a huge makeover and looks like a disco. The décor is red and purple. The benches at the tables along the walls are a bit skimpy and I’m only 5′ tall. I wonder how comfortable it would be for a tall person. The food is still good. They seem to be undergoing a shakedown in the kitchen. Although the restaurant wasn’t crowded, it took a while to get my order after straightening out a misunderstanding. Most of the old staff, especially the sushi chefs, were Japanese and were much more hospitable and efficient. This staff as far as I could see, are Asian but not Japanese, and are still learning how to make sushi, which could explain why my 2 sushi rolls took so long. The décor doesn’t seem consistent with a sushi bar and is rather jarring, not very relaxing. It went from old style Japanese to 21st century Asian hipster that isn’t consistent with a sushi bar ambience. I would go back again but maybe for take-out.

I was upset when my favorite Japanese restaurant closed, Months later it reopened under new management. I had to try it twice before I restored it to my favorite Japanese restaurant. I miss the old wooden Bento boxes but have been delighted with some new offerings. Try their crab ragoon included with the bento box. I wish them luck and want them to have many customers and stay open. It is a friendly & comfortable place. Improve the miso soup and you get one more star.

When we entered tsuru we were automatically greeted by someone(i assume maybe the manager or the owner) who was kind enough to interrupt his drinks to open the door for us. The place was full, so we had to wait around 10 minutes to be seated. As soon as were seated the hostess picked up on the seats being a little tight for us(we also had a car seat for my baby niece). She quickly offered to seat us at a bigger table as soon as it was cleared which didn’t take that long. The food was great! Dont understand why some are complaining about it. Really enjoyed our meals, especially the duck breast tortilla and tsuru roll were splendid. Staff was very attentive, exceptionally friendly and patient. We had a baby and a toddler who wasn’t on her best behavior and being a bit hyper(due to her favorite auntie giving her too much chocolate), yet they couldn’t have handled it better. Cannot express my gratitude for their patience and kindness! Especially the hostess was very attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Thank you for a great experience! Will be coming back for sure! P. S. Checked in on Unilocal and got 15% off of our entire meal! Left very satisfied)

Been coming here forever. Great food and service. Very fresh fish and oysters. I like that they are open 7 days a week all day long vs. closing from 3 — 5 pm. One of my favorite go to Sushi spots.

What happened to the old Tsuru! All I wanted was a bento box and since I came past 4 I had to order all the components individually and was faced with high prices and small portions! My colleague ordered general tsos and was very dissatisfied as well. If there’s no bento box, I will no longer be a customer.

This review is for delivery. Very fast delivery of delicious sushi. I think we’ve ordered from them at least once every 2 weeks since we moved here about a year ago. They’re efficient on the phone and always get the orders right. Very friendly too. And, the food is always delicious. The special rolls are great, the dumplings, the bento box… all great. Can’t beat it for sushi takeout.

This review is for their online service. Our experience with Tsuru through grub hub has always been wonderful. Fast delivery, accurate orders, good food and reasonable prices. Really the perfect combination for everything you need on Friday takeout night!

Oh god… where do i even begin… over priced, cutting corners with food, no quality and very sloppy. First and definitely the last time im ordering from here. I ordered the soft shell crab which costs $ 10 and got 5 teeny weeny nugget like looking crabs it literally is the size of chicken tenders broken into half, i took a picture of it. The tempura wasnt that bad, just abit salty n oily. The seafood teriyaki… i dont even know what to say, the put the lobster tail SHELL n the meat was out, when i tried putting the meat in, its obviously wasnt from that shell, way too small. Scallops looked like it was burnt. Then the cold soba noodles with shrimp n scallops like the description said only came with 1 miserable shrimp and 1 tiny scallop and 2 thin slices of avocado. I definitely felt like i got robbed. Very disappointing.

No one who likes real Japanese food should eat here. The teriyaki dishes taste like they placed some unseasoned fish/shrimp/chicken/etc. on a plate and poured the cheapest teriyaki-style sauce they could find. I could make it better from scratch, and trust me, I don’t cook. The rice used for the sushi and rolls needs more vinegar and the chef needs more practice in making them because the rice should not crumble apart when you pick it up. The interior of the place is dingy and depressing. Overall, eating here was one of the most disappointing experiences, as this used to be a good restaurant(10 years ago?)

Expensive for lunch boxes versus those on the area. Age dashi tofu much better than most in the area but there was no AC in the restaurant. Service was good but had to ask for water after a soda with ice and green tea since the place was baking. On the other hand almost nobody in the restaurant so that much was good or bad depending on your view. Whole time there which was about 2.5 hours only two people were in there.

I came here for a quick lunch & some time with an old friend. We had a great time. It’s been a while since I came here. The staff greeted us with a smile and since it wasn’t that crowded we were seated right away. A quiet and clean place to have a long chat with a friend. For starters, we tried the grilled squid and it was good. Soft not that chewy, grilled at it best. For my entrée, my friend decided to try the Tsuru lunch box which I enjoyed my Salmon teriyaki and his kalbi Tsuru box. We couldn’t get the chance for a round of dessert since it was already a huge meal. It was decent and we got what we went there for. Good Food, good service and had a good time. I would recommend this place to family & Friends.

Solid Japanese restaurant that has been around forever. Used to go more often, but found the service to be slow in the past. Came back for dinner the other night. It was a Tuesday or Wednesday and the place was all but deserted. Everything was OK, but not great. Service was fine. You could do better, you could do worse.

I love this place! I used to come here almost weekly but it was hurting my wallet. The staff is very prompt and helpful, and the seating is very comfortable and spacious. For sushi, there are definitely better priced places, however the fish is always fresh and well presented. For starters, get their miso eggplant or their blue crab dumplings. For entrees, I recommend either the tempura or duck udon, eel over rice, or their special combination plates. The combo plates are definitely a better value and you can try a few things at once. Of course, any of their sushi is delicious but I recommend the sushi for two if you’re with a date or friend. Last– get some hot sake. You won’t regret it!
