Keep driving. Much better places around and you can do better than frozen then fried packaged food served with out of a bottle sauces. Come on, takes 2 mins to make a decent gauc. Cut the menu down and focus on freshness.

Very good food, prompt service, perhaps a bit overpriced, but the portion sizes are so big, you’ll probably have leftovers. Definitely would like to return.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that’s casual, comfortable, with great food, and not too expensive — this is a solid choice. I’ve been coming here for years for dinner, and always had a good meal. It is well-priced(remember folks, you’re on Cape Cod, nothing is ‘cheap’ here!) and friendly, efficient service. Decent wine list. Love sitting in the booths, very cozy. Centrally located to Chatham and Brewster too. You won’t go wrong here.

Went on a Friday night, was greeted shortly after entering, and after only ten minutes at the bar were seated at a quiet booth for two. Our waitress was attentive and our app(see photo of awesome boneless buffalo tenders) was delivered in a timely fashion considering how busy it was. My prime rib and my wife’s entrée were hot and tasty. I felt compelled to write a review because we have been coming here for years, having booked company Christmas parties, graduation dinners and the like. After not coming here for awhile, it was great to go back and again enjoy the food, drink, atmosphere, and service we remembered. Great night at the 400

400 East is a standard 3-star establishment in my book. We went looking for a ‘nicer’ dinner while on vacay without blowing a ton of money, but still expecting good food and maybe a nice setting. All in all the experience was fine, but I think a bit overpriced. So the food was okay– I had the panko-crusted chicken marsala(okay– kind of like chicken parm but with marsala sauce), my husband had the braised rib ravioli(good), and we split a goat cheese bruschetta appetizer(SOGOOD!). Beside the appetizer, nothing was outstandingly delicious. I’m fine with just okay food, but the entrees seemed overpriced for being so– they were both over $ 23. Also, I read somewhere that they were all about ‘no frills’ and focused on the food. There were no frills to be seen– our waitress was not very friendly(not unfriendly, though) and seemed in a rush(it was a Friday night though, so to be expected?) just kind of dropped things at our table as she ran by. The décor was comfy and kind of reminded me of Outback-goes-nautical, but the music kind of through off the ambiance(Top 40 I think, I know I heard Katy Perry and Tove Lo). Bottom line: it’s a decent place to eat, but it just seems out of step with the price of the food.

Stopped in for dinner without reading the previous Unilocal reviews and we were glad we did. We were greeted very warmly immediately and sat at a booth. The waitress was very friendly, warm, and we felt welcomed. We noticed they had a nice bar with tv’s near the center of the restaurant. We began with the house salads which were very basic but the portion was satisfying. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and the margherita pizza. Both pizzas were the size of a large serving plate and one pizza was enough for 2 people. We had leftovers. There was plenty of pepperoni on our pizza and the other pizza had plenty of tomatoes on it. We were very happy with our bar pizzas. We knew this wasn’t going to be pizza from NY/NJ but for bar pizza it was perfect. If you want pizza from NYC, don’t order it. The place was very clean and the service was top notch. My daughter commented on how clean the bathrooms were. That’s a good sign they care. For a Sunday night, the place was packed. Obviously, the Unilocal reviews aren’t hurting this place. I would go back.

The service was excellent. The food was average. I had their special Lobster Ravioli and i did not like the stuffing or sauce. My family said their food was good.

Overpriced for the food. I had the clam chowder which was good and had the fried clams for dinner. The bellies were squishy and one was bad which almost made me throw up.

Great service even though it was very busy. Waitress was nice and personable. However, the main highlight was the lobster roll. Holy moly, was not expecting the size! For 19 bucks you get a very generous serving of lobster in a large hotdog bun. Very light dressing with spare bits of celery. I’m actually curious if they lose money on it. The lobster Mac and cheese was also great, along with the potato skins. Great place, glad I Unilocaled it!

I’ve been coming here for many years and it has never failed to be absolutely amazing. Some of my personal favorites are the French onion soup, caesar salad, and definitely the Buffalo chicken tenders. Overall a top on my list!

This is a American pub that has a wide and varied menu that has been there for years. I was not going to write a review till I read some of the others and actually laughed at them! Onion soup that had to many onions?15 years of good meals but one undercooked item warrants a 1 star? Why would you go back if you gave it one star last time? Dinner date out for 2 and the bill comes to 30 dollars, my god! So they get 5 from me based on there fresh hand formed burgers, butcher shop quality steaks and half priced apps at the bar as a mass. Legal happy hour! Drinks are always a good pour and you have a tv in front of you at any seat in the bar. Waitstaff and bartenders have always been professional with me but then again I tip at least 15% unlike others on hear! Don’t be cheep or take a kitchen mistake out on your server people, it’s how they put food on there table at home…

Well thought we would try it! Lunch on a Saturday was nothing note worty. Not busy and kinda dark like a bar should be. Service just ok nothing special. Not great not bad just average. Orderd mashed potatoes but she stated not till after 4 no big deal but obviously i wanted them for a reason so she shouldn’t walk away??? I had to get up to order something else with her for the baby. Mac n cheese was kraft from a box again nothing special. Crab Cakes looked old and smashed with a pan. Lifeless lettuce and old tomatoes on the plate as a garnish. Im really not being harsh but it needs replating. Potatoe skins were good! Dessert was good. Just wasnt a favorable experience. Having lunch with my girls and grandbaby and husband was!

After eating at 400 for years, you have changed a few menu items. But give a break the house salad is awful, Ceasar is much better, the pickles served with burgers are from 50 years ago. Everyone enjoys a good condiment, I can’t believe you still serve them. Martini glass could be updated to its original type, it does make a difference

For years my family has occasionally frequented 400 East because of its proximity to our vacation home and general steadiness of the quality of the food. The food is nothing special but has historically been consistently ok. Until yesterday that is. We stopped off for some chowder/soup and apps for a light lunch. While the majority of the items we ordered were ok, we were surprised when we cut open a boneless buffalo tender to find it raw inside. I get that cooking mishaps happen, but this should never happen at a restaurant. While our waitress promptly brought us a new order, I was shocked to find it on the bill at the end of the meal and no visit from the manager. That’s pretty lame considering it is only an $ 8 item. I’m not into salmonella poisoning any time(especially while dining out), or short-sighted customer service. After over 15 years of occasional visits(2 – 3 times per year) at 400 East, yesterday’s was our last.

I’m here again for Mother’s Day and the only reason is because my family lives down the street. Let me tell you, the service here is painfully slow. Ridiculous. The food is just not worth it. I am only here because I love my family I really don’t recommend this place.

I have been twice, the first time I got apps, very well prepared, tasty. The waitress knew the beers on tap, specials, I thought the service and the atmosphere were great. The second time I went, I got their burger with Boursin cheese. I got a very rare burger when it came out. The waitress was nice enough to recook both my wife as well as my burger. Overall I thought the burgers were not so great. Every place can have an off night but all in all 400 east is a nice place to grab apps and drinks after work or before you go out for the night.

My husband and I had an early dinner this evening at the 400 E. We enjoyed every minute! Our server was Lizzie and she brought us our drinks very promptly and our meal was served quickly as well. My husband had macaroni and cheese with sausage and he absolutely loved it! He is not one who would ordinarily order that kind of food out but we did and he was very happily surprised! I had the spinach salad with roasted scallops which was served with a blue cheese vinaigrette dressing and homemade croutons. It was really good, in fact that was the second time I have ordered that at the 400. Lizzie made the whole visit especially nice & she was just smiling and happy to get whatever we wanted.

Went to 400 East with my family for my birthday last night — Always a good meal! They treat us so well — service is friendly and fast! LOVE love love the spinach, scallop salad! Burgers are really good too and the french onion soup is my favorite on the Cape.
