Pretty good. Got chili and rice. Not the best I’ve had but hit the spot.

Everything was great right from the friendly greeting to the dishes we enjoyed, coconut and garlic shrimp, oh so good. Serving sizes are generous with a great view. Strongly recommend.

By far the best shrimp truck on the island!!! It’s not only the shrimp but also the other seafood and steak. Comes with rice and the butter sauce that flows all over and is delicious. The pricing isn’t bad either. $ 13-$ 16 a plate and you get decent portions. You’ll pay more or as much as you do here to go to any other shrimp truck. And none of them compare. I’ve tried a handful just along Kam Hwy, so I kinda feel I can back this up. There’s a great convenience store next door too! You can grab a drink(even brown paper bag it), poke, fishing tackle, sugar, and all the other miscellaneous things. The brownies they home bake are da bomb! They have an outdoor patio area in front of the convenience store to eat. It’s nice and clean. There’s a park across the street that runs along the beach. It’s a beautiful view.

Love this place! Shrimp truck located right next to the Ching Store in Hauula. They have combo plates here like steak and shrimp or mahi mahi and shrimp. They have variety of different style shrimp here such as garlic, spicy garlic, or coconut. The prices are bit less than the shrimp trucks in Kahuku and also there’s less of a line to order too. This place is cash only so make sure to bring cash. Shrimp here is not bad and there’s tables here where you can sit and eat and view the lovely beach across the street.

Awesome seafood! Got the steak and shrimp(medium spicy) and clam strips appetizer. Clam strips were delicious and the steak was seasoned and flavored well. Garlic shrimp medium spicy was perfect not too spicy.

Long line when we got there but well worth the wait. Food was outstanding. We had the chili dog and surf and surf.

Campy food truck with friendly hostess in the back window taking orders. Simple menu with photos of all the dishes to help the novices. Small tables line the front of Chang’s Store(est 1935) which acts as watering hole and restroom facility. Basically a welcome pilot fish to the Shrimp Snack attraction. Service is paced and thoughtful. Lots of smiles everywhere. View of the adjoining bay enhances the perfect flavors of the shrimp, clams and fish. Kona coffee is also available with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Entrees are in the $ 10 – 15 range but go as high as $ 25. Well worth the drive out of the major tourist spots.

Excellent shrimp plate! We ordered the garlic shrimp, medium spicy. I also enjoyed the Kona volcano, hot Kona coffee poured over vanilla ice cream. The owners are very nice and personable. The wait was an hour, way too long for me. I understand it is because each plate is made fresh to order, however I have no patience to wait an hour for any meal, hence 4 stars instead of 5. My husband insisted on trying this particular truck however, so we stuck it out. A local in line said she comes here once/week as it’s the best shrimp truck on the island. If you see a line, just know it does not move fast! Get a beer from inside to drink in line at least!

This place is pretty legit! Right along the coast line. Good food with pretty simple accommodations. You can only use a credit card with purchases over $ 20. Make sure to check in on Unilocal to get a discount– I missed the offer! Keep an eye out because it’s so small you could totally miss it!

I swoon just thinking about our entire experience at this place! It’s one hidden gem nestled right in Punalu’u, and has been a popular attraction for years. I remember first reading about this in the Ilima Awards Restaurant Guide many years ago, but have not had the chance to try it until yesterday! For one thing, this is actually a food truck, and not a walk-in restaurant. There are, however, tables and chairs to sit at that are apparently owned by the establishment. Right next door to this shrimp truck is also Ching’s store, where you have to take your credit card to be run, if you’re paying with such. Once you order, they give you a number that you place on your table. And…on to the food. We ordered the crab cakes, the steamed clams, and the spicy garlic shrimp plate. The crab cakes were mouthwatering. Chunks of real, sweet(I’m guessing snow crab?) meat all encrusted in a crispy, deep-fried coat. It was served with some kind of ketchup and a slice of lemon. I preferred the crab cakes without the ketchup. The steamed clams were delicious, as well. The clams were a bit on the small side, but the sauce it was steamed in was fantastic! I think the owner mentioned to my boyfriend that it was a combination of butter, beer and garlic! It was also served with a side of white rice, which was great for mopping up this sauce. HOWEVER… …we also ordered the spicy garlic shrimp plate! The shrimp is served with butter, and you can either eat the shrimp whole, shell and all(just remember to chew well, and not to eat the tail!), or you can get your hands dirty and peel the shrimp. The reason for the however, though, is that the shrimp is DELICIOUS with the clam sauce. Trust me, if you order these two together, make sure to try this combination! I don’t know if I actually enjoyed the shrimp with the sauce, or with the butter more! And that’s saying a lot, considering that I really love butter! The price isn’t bad, either. I think for everything we ordered, our bill only came out to about 30 bucks. Plus, it’s right across the street from the beach. So, with the beautiful view we had, and the delicious food to add to everything, it was just the right way to spend my Sunday! (Not to mention, you can even get your order to-go, and feast at the beach across the street!)

Shrimps galore! Hearing that you need to stop by a shrimp truck while driving around the island, I knew we had to stop here for a lunch when we passed by. The truck itself is next to a small convenience store, with a few tables outside for eating. Following recommendations, I ordered the garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp to share with my husband. The garlic shrimps were pretty good, and it came with a generous portion of rice to go along with the buttery sauce. The coconut shrimp was not bad either. I thought price to value was a tad higher than I expected from a food truck, hence the dock in the number of stars. I was also not impressed with the kona coffee with ice cream. It sounded delicious, but it wasn’t very drinkable. A side note: there are restrooms inside the convenience store that you can use, but it’s pretty gross if you ask me. At least I can say I tried a shrimp truck while at Oahu!

The clams in garlic sauce was phenomenal, this was everything that is right about food trucks. The workers were extremely charming and a pleasure to chat with.

Very tasty garlicky shrimp however, hot is not hot and be prepared to have your rice swim in the butter that the shrimp is cooked in. I would have prefer the rice to be kept separately rather than in a pool butter hence 4 stars instead of 5. Pricing wise, $ 10.75, fastest service ever and check in with Unilocal saves you 10%.

My mom and I saw signs for Shrimp Shack several miles away and decided to stop by for lunch. The yellow truck is hard to miss, but be careful when you pull over to park as cars go pretty fast at this point on the highway. We had 2 orders of the Surf & Surf(medium spicy garlic shrimp and mahi) and used their Unilocal check-in offer for 10% off the total. There were about 5 – 7 tables lined up along the wall of the convenient store next door, where we bought some drinks to go with our meal. A bell was our signal that our order was ready, so we had to listen carefully over the sound of the passing traffic and waves crashing across the street. The plate came with a side of butter to dip our shrimp in and lots of onions. I wouldn’t say this is the best shrimp truck on the island, but we did leave satisfied. Give em a try!

This place was absolutely why shrimp trucks are all the craze in Hawaii. I wish we could have such buttery garlicky fresh shrimp here on mainland but Hawaii just does it better. Checking in on Unilocal gives you a little discount, which always helps. The ladies cooking up a storm in the shrimp truck are friendly and cool and they are next to a small convenience store so you can pay with a card, get some cold beverages and even use the restroom if you need to. My family of four absolutely devoured those shrimp plates like nobody’s business. When you come here, you don’t mess around. Get that original garlic shrimp and be prepared for a meal that will knock your socks off.

Unfortunately the day we came here I couldn’t eat a lot :(It was already 3pm and I had to be at a dinner by 6pm! UGHHHH! Not fair =___= I love shrimp trucks! Since it was so late in the afternoon already, my boyfriend and I decided to split a popcorn shrimp(half size). The popcorn shrimp was good and came with some yummy dipping sauce. My only complaint was they were really slow bringing out the food. I think it only bothered me because I was already on a time crunch. Overall: I definitely want to come back here to try the garlic shrimp plate!
