Excellent service, great salad bar, and large portions of entrees that taste very good. What more can you ask for?!

For decades, I have driven by this place and told myself that I need to stop by. And for decades, that thought always leaves my memory the instant it is out of view. Truly feels like one of those Dr. Who moments. Well, I finally stopped by… or rather tagged along(because I obviously wouldn’t remember to go). For the lunch special value, I thought the food was ok. I had the Italian sausage sandwich. The salad bar and soup were nice. I’d come back to try it again.

Every year when we come home to Jersey we go to Yesterday’s. We found this place to be the perfect restaurant, Great Service, Great Food, Great Atmosphere. And with having a food allergy it’s not easy finding a place that will take the care to make your dinner special and delicious, We Highly recommend Yesterday’s! Keep up the great work.

I had been coming here for years, and finally after the last visit, I said I would come no more. Yesterday’s used to be really good, back before the fire and renovation. While the place is indeed beautiful and clean, the food and service is sub-par. The menu has not changed in decades, and while it is not exactly an Italian restaurant, per se, Italian dishes dominate the menu. Most entrees are not exactly bad, just bland, below average, and lackluster. There’s really nothing worthwhile to order, though I do love the salad bar which also comes with two choices of soup, fresh baked rolls, and mussels. Drink prices are also really cheap, but $ 5 cocktails still are not enough to get me to come back here unless they get a new chef who actually knows how to season and cook food flavorfully. The lunch specials here are abominable. I ordered a chicken and cheese quesadilla which literally tasted like dirt. Service can also range. Some of the younger ones are nice and pleasant, while there is an older one who is a bit snippy and doesn’t smile until it is time to place the check on your table.

Salad bar was super fresh and well kept up with. The mussels were delicious too and part of the salad bar. I didn’t try that soups unfortunately so I can’t comment on them. I got the Chicken Murphy and it was delicious I just wish there were more hot peppers and potatoes. The flavor was perfect just how I make mine and the chicken wasn’t dry at all very very juicy. My boyfriend got the LA pasta and it was also delicious. I wish I lived in the area to go back as I read their lunch specials are a great price.

I love their salad bar. The waiters are also very professional and helpful. Their lunch special is the best deal you can ever get from an Italian restaurant!

Low quality restaurant. Management should consider staff behavior — one waitress in particular continually verbally abuses hostesses and busboys each time I dine there on weekends. I refuse to eat at a place that condones this unprofessionalism.

I have 6 children… and McDonald’s is directly across the street from Yesterday’s but my children choose yesterday’s every time. $ 5 lunch on our errand day… a weekly treat that is anticipated by us all. Staff is always kind and food is always good. We really like Yesterday’s.

Good food, recently went for a rehearsal dinner, so trays of food were out for the taking and it was all good. Meatballs were the best part! Beer on tap was cold and bartender friendly. Will come back one day for a sit down dinner!

Decent Italian food. Service is attentive and the portions are nice size. Salad bar is a bit sparse. Mussels are excellent.

We have been there tonight. I wish I could give it zero star! Food quality was awful! We ordered steak and shrimp. Steak was like plastic so I couldn’t swallow it! Shrimps were too smelly! Non of sides were satisfying. Salad bar was not bad but not as good that I could forget about bad main course. I think service was ok or at least not as bad as the food. I will never go there again.

I have been here a few times with my family. Nice little place with decent food. Never had an issue with the meals I’ve gotten. The only things I have really had were the L.A. Chicken and tonight I had the Chicken Murphy. Definitely my go to meals here. Very good. Tonight my sister got the Stuffed Flounder. She said the lemon sauce was good but when my mom tried it she said she was glad she didn’t order it. All the meals come with the salad bar. Salad bar isn’t special however if you like muscles(I believe that’s what they are) you can get as much as you want. They also have soups at the salad bar and awesome, warm, doughy rolls!!! They do have a bar but have I never ordered a drink until tonight. Since it was my birthday, and Cinco de Mayo, I ordered a raspberry margarita. Good size and flavor was good but didn’t taste much alcohol in it. This restaurant is right on the highway and parking is super tight. Parking a truck is a tad difficult. But other than that definitely give it a try. Also a private room for parties is available.

I’ve lived in Hazlet with my wife for 7 and a half years now. We must have passed this place 5,000 times as we live less than ¼ mile away. We’ve never gone in for the sole reason that the signs for it were horrible. We kept thinking, «the signs looks bad, so inside must be cheap and bad.» Even after the fire and renovation/expansion, the signs were terrible. Its also in a weird area near a corner. The lot is pretty small and it connects directly to a dry cleaners parking lot. The lot is next to another lot with some pretty low end stores a stones throw from a trailer park. To my wife’s dismay, I went in there a few weeks ago looking at possibly hosting an event. Unfortunately they were booked the day I wanted, but I was stunned at how nice the place looked when I went inside. The bar/dining area looked really nice as did the party rooms. I convinced my wife to go there with our 3 year old and 1 year old today. I could not have been more wrong about not going in this entire time. The food was outstanding for the price. They give you nice portions and its reasonably priced. The salad bar is pretty good, not great like«Whats Your Beef» in Rumson, but you get what you pay for in that regard. Neither one of us likes mussels, but I’ll definitely bring my parents there for that. I got the chicken and rice soup and my wife got the the broccoli soup at the salad bar. Both were excellent. Both of our entrees were very flavorful and filling. My wife got the Beef Rollatini and I got the Chicken Murphy. The décor was warm and inviting. My wife said it reminded her of the places she would go with her family for dinner growing up. Its not super fine dining, but its a very nice place to go eat dinner with the family. We will definitely be back. Tip to the owners: Please do something about the exterior signs… they are terrible.

Yesterday’s has always been a place my family comes to often and when we have extended family visiting, we bring them here a lot. The food is pretty good but I think what makes it the best is the salad bar. The ingredients are always so fresh and there are so many options– salads, endless toppings, 2 – 3 soups, bread, and mussels. You can make a meal out of the salad bar in itself. They give a pretty generous pour with their wine and you rarely have to wait too long for a table. My dad and I also planned a surprise 50th birthday party here for my mom which ended up falling on a blizzard. We called them first thing in the morning and they did not hesitate to change the date of the party last minute and give us the same exact room and food options we had originally planned for(minus the surprise, of course)! Yesterday’s will always be a place I make a point to stop at when I’m home visiting my parents.

The salad bar is great. The food is hit or miss. However, I won’t ever be going back there. I was there this past Friday evening and I witnessed a supervisor berating a server. The nasty woman was doing this within earshot of the table I was sitting at. My husband had to keep me from jumping to the poor girl’s defense. I found the incident to be very unprofessional and totally uncalled for. I will not knowingly patronize a business where the employees are treated badly, especially when it’s done where customers can see or hear it. I’m not saying that employees shouldn’t be disciplined, I’m say that there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it. Humiliation is the wrong way. I hope that server can find a new job where she is treated with respect.

We went to try the $ 5 lunch specials one afternoon and the food wasn’t that great. The service was friendly and the place looks like it has potential, especially by the bar. The food wasn’t of a good quality. I had a sandwich and it was served on a hamburger bun which wasn’t fresh. We also tried the wings, which weren’t part of the $ 5 menu, but probably should have been considering the small portion and subpar quality. I’d consider going back in the evening to give Yesterday’s another shot, but my hopes for the food won’t be very high after my first experience.

This was a nice little place in Keyport, NJ. The food and service was good and we have a very nice evening. The seafood seemed to be fresh and well prepared and as mentioned, we tried the salad bar with the mussels. Very nice touch, though just slightly sandy. It is definitely worth a visit and a great place for a mid-week meal.

We had a ‘repast’ here after a friend’s funeral service(I’m from NY and we never use the word ‘repast’ but it’s all over Jersey). Anyway, I am basing my review primarily on the service. The food was good, too, but really — working with Joe to set this up at the last minute is what this review is based on. The banquet room was just perfect for our group. Tastefully decorated and neutral. We enjoyed the food, too(it’s basically what they offer at the buffet — comfort food that is perfect after an memorial service.

A very good value. At dinner time Yesterday’s has all you can eat muscles in marinara sauce as well as soup and salad. The staff is friendly and the portions are decent and well prepared. Yesterday’s has been offering and still offers good value for the money. As with any restaurant, everyone will not like everything on the menu, but that is life.

To be completely honest, I love going for the salad bar but nothing else. Food is decent and service is pretty good but it is what it is, a nice neighborhood place where expectations should not be sky high. Cheap drafts and a fantastic salad bar with soup, mussels, bread, and great selection of salad ingredients make this the only choice I recommend!

I love Yesteday’s. It’s the only place in the area that is small, comfortable, classy and affordable. The food is not outstanding but it certainly isn’t bad. Plus every entrée includes a complimentary soup and salad bar. They have a decent selection of liquor for better drinks and its a nice clean environment. I would definitely recommend this to any locals

This place just screams trashy. There was pretty much nothing on the menu that a health conscious person could eat. I ended up getting a salmon dish, but everything else was pretty much useless to me. I don’t think their food is particularly great and the cliental is not the best in the entire world. Food is bland. Not many options. Just alright. Would only go again if there was truly no other option.

The hostess Nicole was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. Fried calamari was good. Tried the chicken parm which was too thin and a little dry but the flavor was good. Salad bar was clean and presentable. Had Tartufo for dessert it was excellent. Waitress was excellent.

We were at an awards function in the banquet room. The kitchen was very noisy and loud and had to be asked several times to quiet down. The food was warm and not hot and the salad had browning greens.

To be honest, it’s a little passable on NJ-35, but if you catch it, you’re setting your taste buds up for success. The name of «Yesterday’s» caught my eye and I thought it was a retro place to eat because of the name. Lo and behold, it’s the best Italian restaurant I’ve had in Monmouth county. To start I had the shrimp cocktail, which is a bit over priced with only 4 shrimp, but the homemade cocktail sauce sealed it for me. Along with your meal, you have full access to a soup, salad, bread and mussels bar. The variety of the salad is good, though you only have the choice of 2 soups. The rolls, which are mini Italian breads, are out if this world! I’m not a bread fanatic, but the flavor of the breath is the best Italian bread I’ve ever had and the bread is CONSTANTLY cycled to be warm. They had a special today of a marinated sirloin steak and to be honest, best non-hispanic flavored steak I’ve EVER had. And by Hispanic, I mean mojo like flavors. The mashed potatoes and spinach were delectable and the service was exemplary. Amanda was kind, friendly and exuberant about the menu. In my opinion, you should love what you serve or sell. In all, it’s worth every penny and there’s value at every turn. I may have to come here monthly from Long Branch. You owe it to yourself to come here.

Kitschy Italian restaurant still living in the 80s. The food and drinks are disappointing. The menu is your stereotypical 1980s nj Italian menu. The wine list will not disappoint the yellow tail or woodbridge enthusiast in you! The décor… Let’s just say that after the fire, they went to homegoods and picked up every kitschy thing they could find. And finally, if I owned a restaurant, I’d pay someone to make me a solid logo/sign, as random passerbys can be reeled with a solid sign Well… I’ll be polite and say that someone’s grandson had some fun designing signs in WordArt. Seriously, type yesterday’s in Word, then pull up WordArt. You’ll have their awful signs in 5 mins.

This place was solid. A close friend’s baby shower was this past weekend and the food was good, the ambiance in the banquet hall was bright and cheery, the bathrooms were spotless, the bar was lovely. The staff was a little dull — not very quick to bring beverages or coffee; the bartender was seriously delayed but other than that, nice enough. Certainly give this place a look if you’re looking to host a party and want good prices!
